《Grand Magus》Chapter 31 Experimenting with dark rope

Black dots formed in front of Fraser's palm as the runic spell model ball dark rope absorbed spirit in order to form something along the lines of a magnetic attraction.
Quickly a black wooden log formed in front of Fraser's palm and it was about 6 meters long or about twenty feet.
‘Does controlling the dark rope cause my spirit to vanish? Maybe I don’t even need to focus the dark rope on my hand palms. Maybe I can even create a dark rope simply by forming it near my body. Maybe there is some kind of practice that needs to be done in order to control the spirit from the whole body.’
Moving the black wooden log which followed his palms, Fraser would always glance towards his body stats in order to calculate whether controlling the dark rope would need spirit.
Without any surprise moving the dark rope with his hands didn’t need any additional spirit.
Instead, Fraser felt like he controlled a weightless staff which he didn’t need to grasp and would always follow his hands.
Focusing back to his spirit room Fraser could see a weird thing happening. The spell model of dark rope would stick towards the jelly wall of the spirit room.
Fraser could see how the runic ball shape opened in two directions. The first direction on which the spell model opened was towards the spirit room, probably absorbing spirit.
The second opening was towards the jelly wall of the spirit room.
‘Does the spell model act like a converter of spirit power? Maybe it can be compared to something like electricity and machines, the spirit is electricity and the spell model are machines, so each spell model is a machine, designed to do something with the electricity and the machine can always be re-designed in order to increase its functions. Something similar to the modified spell models.’

Fraser pondered about it while looking at the runic spell model ball which now looked like a runic tunnel.
‘If I shift the position, does that mean….?’
The black wooden log wandered from his palms towards his arm, only to end up on his belly.
Now it looked like a black wooden log floated above Fraser's belly.
Glancing at the spirit gauge Fraser could see that the spirit increased faster than usual.
‘So moving the spell model around the spirit room also means moving the spell model around my body. Does that mean that the spirit room is an abstraction to my body? Maybe it is a symbol of my soul. I need to gather more knowledge about the spirit room. There is a high chance it is the key to being a Magus. Also what would happen when I squeeze the runic tunnel?’
With a quick thought, Fraser squeezed the runic tunnel into something smaller: a runic staff, though only the staff surface was covered with runes, the inside was hollow.
Looking back into his private Chambers Fraser could see that the black wooden log turned into a pitch black rope.
Though it didn’t look like a rope, instead it looked like a staff in the color of pitch black.
‘As I am able to change the shape of the dark rope by squeezing the spell mode, then…’
The dark rope projected out of Fraser's belly started to shake like a real rope. To be honest, Fraser thought the spell looked like a pitch black whip rather than a dark rope.
‘So influencing the spell model in the spirit room will also influence the spell in the reality.’
Fraser continued to make the dark rope wiggle while also testing whether the dark rope would be able to grab things.
In order to test that Fraser used empty glass flasks and slowly wrapped the dark rope around it in order to lift it.

It failed.
Miserably.
As soon as Fraser tried to lift the glass flask it got crushed under the force of the spell model.
The glass flask splintered into countless fragments.
Without any delay Fraser continued to test his spell model dark rope, however this time he used more objects, an empty wooden crate which once stored the bloodstones for the basic wound mending potion, an old wooden table which he found in one of the rooms, a stool which looked like a bigger stone and a few old craps left behind by the former inhabitants of the chamber.
The result surprised Fraser, the wooden crate got crushed without any real resistance, the wooden table wasn’t even able to take one slap of the dark rope before splitting into two pieces and the stone which probably got used as a stool got crushed into stone fragments and chippings as Fraser tried to lift it.
‘So the dark rope isn’t used as a second arm, instead, it is used as a whip in order to slap things away. I can’t even lift things as most would get crushed under the force caused by the dark rope.’
This caused Fraser to frown. His plan was something along the lines of using the dark rope as a slingshot in order to throw his basic explosion potions or normal stones in order to have a ranged attack. Also, Fraser imagined the dark rope as a controlling skill which would allow him to bind his enemies.
The rather huge might of the dark rope wasn’t something that Fraser deemed as bad, instead, it was the fact that Fraser couldn’t even control how much force the rope used.
‘I don’t know how I should control the power of the rope. I tried to feed the spell model less spirit yet the only thing that happened was that the dark rope vanished.’
Fraser pondered for a while before trying to split the runic staff into two halves.
‘As the dark rope, in reality, would follow the changes of the spell model in the spirit room, it is worth a try.’
Concentrating, Fraser used his spirit in order to slowly separate the runic staff in his spirit room into two halves.
Looking back into reality Fraser could see that the pitch black rope also split into two.
Just as Fraser wanted to experiment with the result a severed pain shot through his head.
The dark rope in front of his which split into two halves vanished within the blink of an eye, the spell model also turned back into a runic ball floating in his spirit room.
Sweat poured out of Fraser's body as he immediately asked:
‘AI, scan the state of my body. Search for the cause of the headache and immediately report the cause.’
[Spirit reached a critically low of 0.01]
‘Urgh, AI safe the data in the specific folder of dark rope.’
With that last command, Fraser wobbled through his chamber, ignoring the chaos he caused.
Splinters and fragments of wood and stone were scattered around in the test room.
Passing through a few rooms Fraser reached his bed and fell on top of it.
Closing his eyes Fraser embraced the sweet allure of sleep and thus allowing his spirit to recover.
Fraser's last thoughts before sleeping were: ‘Probably the splitting of the spell model caused my spirit consumption to spike.’

I have no Idea what will come of this, but it should at least be a fun experience for all involve. The writing improves gradually as the chapters go on. I invariably learn some stuff after writing a bunch, finding what works and what doesn't. I definately need to work on paceing and dialouge and flow. Those are the three main goals for now. **Chapter lengths float around the 2300 to 2500 word range as of current chapter Thank you and happy reading.
