《Grand Magus》Chapter 4 Crossing the Wildlands

Fraser bought a considerable amount of rations and stored them inside his wooden carriage. As the 5 wooden carriage trains departed, Fraser looked at the so called “formation” with a frown.
‘They only put the 5 wooden carriage trains together, so now it’s not a train, it’s a moving block of carriages.‘
Frasers carriage wasn’t protected by other carriages, his carriage was placed at the outermost layer.
The good thing was that the position was right next to a pair of caretakers sat ontop an unknown species of horses.
The horses were bony and had little to no muscles. The eyes were kinda creepy as there was no real pupil, everything was white.
As soon as the 5 carriages entered the Wildlands, the caretakers surrounded the moving block of carriages with pairs.
Sadly Fraser wasn’t really able to use the improved Basic Knight Breathing Technique as much as he wanted.
Why? Because the Basic Knight Breathing Techniques enhanced the metabolism in order to improve the general body numbers of a person.
So he would have needed much more food than one stew and one piece of bread every single day.
Not only that, the portions given out by the caretakers shriveled from day one.
Thus Fraser was only able to use the enhanced Basic Knight Breathing Technique once everyday, parallel to the speed in which the caretakers would give out free food.
Naturally one portions given out by the caretakers wasn’t enough, so Fraser would always ate one of his private rations which he bought from the Wildland Border City.
‘AI, show me my Body numbers.’
[1.67 strength, 2.02 agility, 2.24 vitality]
‘These numbers sounds impressive, yet my overall body numbers are only compareable to a healthy young teenager who will almost be a young man.’
Fraser continued to daze off as he tried to conserve his energy as much as possible.
“We will have a five hour break at this place, if you want to walk around then you will be allowed to. Don’t stray too far off or if you are eaten by monster then we won’t care.” shouted a caretaker while hitting his bell.

Fraser armored himself with his leather armor, crossbow, short sword and small hunting knife and prepared to search for something to eat.
‘It doesn’t have to be much, a small rodent, snake or even eggs would suffice to train one more session of the Basic Knight Breathing Technique.’
Looking for the caretakers or the mysterious beings Fraser realized that the caretakers would occasionally look at the children before doing their own stuff like playing cards, gambling or training with their swords.
However the mysterious beings who could use magic stayed inside their carriage at the front.
With coincidence Fraser walked past a group of nobles who formed a group.
One of them actually recognized Fraser.
“Hey Fraser, want to join our noble group?”
It was William who mingled with the other nobles from the other trains.
Soon William introduced Fraser to two boys with Viscount background, one boy who like him had a Dukes background and four girls with seemingly developing breasts with smaller noble background.
“We are the so called Eagle Brigade, we are all from noble birth so we should work together.” said William with excitement.
At this moment another group joined the conversation, naturally each of them were from noble birth as well or else William would have left immediately.
The guy who joined the conversation remained in Frasers mind, else he only registered 2 others boys and 5 girls joining the eagle brigade.
In other words the entire “Eagle Brigade” now held 8 boys including Fraser and 9 girls.
Fraser pushed every single “old” member of the Eagle Brigade into the weakling category as they had little to now weapons and only wore “noble” clothing.
The “old” boys of the Eagle Brigade even belittled him a little bit with small smirks, as he was the only one from the boys wearing armor and having weapons.
This soon changed as the joining three boys also wore armor and weapons, however they naturally received the respect as they had fancy weapons like rapier or a decorated dagger with gems on the handle.

Fraser could literally see the frown on the guy who joined the conversation as he realized that only Fraser had real weapon.
His Name was Richard and his father is the King of a small kingdom.
While the Eagle Brigade mingled and the boys tried to impress the new girls Fraser only listened to the conversations. Apparently the two boys following Richard are twins.
“You wanted to go hunting?” asked Richard as he pointed at Frasers crossbow.
“Yes, but we have 5 hours of resting time so I will probably gather something small to eat like eggs, a snake or rodents.” replied Fraser.
“Don’t be so cold hearted, how about my group goes hunting with you? Since your group is full or flower boys they probably won’t survive that long, but I have to say the girls would probably be really tight.” said Richard while whispering the last sentence to Fraser.
Fraser stared at Richard before smiling and replying: “Yeah I would like to, are you a knight?”
Fraser smile wasn’t really genuine, yet it was good enough for a smart 12 year old horny children who probably only had two goals right now: survive and reproducing.
Richard also offered the Eagle Brigade to share one carriage as one had enough space for 30 children, even if it would feel stuffed.
Naturally William and the rest agreed to it as Richards group leaked a little bit of their information that children will actually die, even with the protection of the caretakers and the mysterious beings who probably were Magus.
Fraser excused himself for a short moment in order to sneak back into his carriage and ate the rest of the rations he bought at the Wildland Border City. With a fast metabolism and a stomach that screamed food it was easily absorbed into Frasers body.
As Richard wanted to take the group to their carriage, Fraser offered his carriage as two caretakers would be riding beside him when the block of wooden carriage moves.
Richard agreed to the moving and introduced more members of his group who waited at their carriage. Naturally everyone was somebody with noble background. However a few were only the son/daughters of “knights”. The Flowerboys like William complained a little bit but Richard soon silenced them with the fact that they had weapons.
In the end the amount of Eagle Brigade members increased to 12 boys including Fraser and 15 girls.
Richard easily took the leader position and the first order he gave was that they would take all three water barrels from every carriage and deposit them in Frasers carriage.
Thus they would have a lot of water compared to other carriages and the girls should be able to wash themselves with a rag.
Naturally Richard gave the task to the girls and ordered the twins and the Flowerboys to protect the girls. They should also fill the three barrels to the brim with water. #
Richard tasked his little sister to coordinate his order.
The other 7 boys would try to get some food in the Wildlands.
Richard gave each boy a leather bag and then armored himself with a chain mail, a sword and a thick wooden shield.
With a short speech Richard started the hunt: “Brothers, our goal is it to acquire food for our young and beautiful maidens, our main goals will be rodents, eggs, fruits, mushrooms or even snakes if we are able to kill them. But remember the most important thing is it to survive.”

Elizabeth Wilson commits suicide. She was the golden girl among her peers in Darkwood, Washington who stood above the pressure of her drug-ridden town. Explore the summer before her senior year that triggered the domino effect of Elizabeth's emotional and psychological breakdown that lead her to take her own life. This is the prequel to the main story, Petrichor and was never intended to be made. I wrote this because I wanted to explore Elizabeth's character and show how the main characters have changed since this event. I decided to release this first because Petrichor is undergoing a full rewrite. In the meantime, I'm writing a side story called Mourning Glory that takes place between the second and third act of Petrichor. Development is going rather fast so I suggest to to read that if you like this story
