《Legacy of the Ancient》Chapter 27 - Relaxing on Lake Olren

Cain was packing up in his room in the morning. He decided it was time for him to go back for his track to Krevias.
“Hmm…” Cain was looking at his clothes on the bed. Some of them were ragged. “The life of a Hunter is really spendthrift, huh.” he sighed.
“(I should looking for cheap clothes before I left Haneama.)” thought he.
He wore the fingerless gloves from Igo, and the cloak he received from the Kingsmight. He put the rest into his bag.
“Alright, all set.”
He went to Throne Room, but did not find Calbot there. The guards pointed him to the Dining Hall.
After said his thanks, he went to the Dining Hall.
The guards in front of the Dining Hall door opened the door for him.
When he entered, Calbot and Meira were having breakfast with Igo, Ivela was there too. They were having breakfast on a long table. Calbot was on the middle.
When they saw Cain entered the hall, they stopped their chat.
“Cain? Where are you going?” asked Calbot. All eyes were on Cain.
“This is the time, I’ll continue my journey.” Cain replied.
“So fast? Ughh… come, sit down, have breakfast with us,” said Calbot. “At least I won't let you tell everyone that I see you go while you have an empty belly.” he continued.
Cain laughed then shrugged. After he put down his bag and the cloak on the table near the tall window, he sat down beside Meira, across from Igo and Ivela. He took a slice of buttered bread from the plate and ate it.
“So, where will you go, Cain?” asked Meira.
“I’m going to see the beauty of Olren Lake.” said Cain.
“Ah, Krevias? Good choice!” responded Calbot. “Then, after that?” asked he.
“After that, hmm… I want to say wherever the wind takes me or something like that to make me look cool, but I’m sure, Lady Ivela here would say that line is overused.” Cain smirked.
They laughed to Cain’s reply. Ivela just laughed softly and smiled.
“So, how’s the dinner?” asked Igo to Cain.
“Your Majesty!?” gasped Ivela.
“What’s wrong? That’s just a simple curiosity from a King to his bodyguard’s happiness.” Igo shrugged.
“I want to know too!” said Meira. “Ah, you’re so beautiful in that dress! I bet Cain lost his mind when he saw you.” teased Meira.
“I actually went to the otherside for a while last night, Meira.” said Cain.
“See?” said Meira.
“Cain!?” said Ivela with a blinking expression as she was being teased by them.
They laughed blissfully.
Jared came with Beil. Beil ran and jumped to Cain’s lap when he saw Cain. Cain gave him a little piece of bread he was eating.
“Mee~eip.” Beil happily ate the bread.

“Your Majesties.” Jared greeted his King and King Iligo.
“Sit down, Jared. After this breakfast, Cain will continue his journey. This is likely our farewell breakfast.” said Calbot.
“Really? Too bad you choose not to stay, Cain.” Jared sat next to Cain.
Cain smiled. “I’m gonna see what the world has to offer.”
“Meip!” Beil sounded to agree.
After the breakfast, they went to the Throne Room. Where they saw him off.
“Take care out there, Master Cain.” said Jared.
They shook hands. “Thanks… do you also get it?” asked Cain.
“Of course! You were late yesterday,” Jared puffed his chest. “Oh yeah, Rinrai and Marna will be sad when they know you had dinner with that beautiful Rose.” whispered Jared.
“You sounded like I’m the bad one here, Master Jared.” responded Cain.
They both laughed.
“Say hi to the Order from me.” said Cain.
Jared nodded.
“I’ll miss you, Beil.” Meira hugged Beil. Rubbed her cheek to Beil’s.
“Mee~eip.”
“Are you sure you don't want a carriage or at least a horse, Cain?” asked Calbot.
“Nah, I’m good, Your Majesty.” said Cain.
“Please, just Calbot. I count you among my closest friends.”
Cain smiled. “Thanks, Calbot.” he said.
Meira stepped to Calbot’s side after she put Beil down.
“I can’t persuade you to stay until we get married, huh?” said Calbot.
“Yeah, stay longer, Cain.” Meira added.
Cain laughed lightly. “Actually, I can solve that,” Cain took a little box from his waist bag, then he handed it to Calbot. “This is an early gift for you, congratulation, Calbot and Meira. Long live, and always be in Goddess’s care.” said Cain.
“A gift?” Calbot took the box and opened it.
A pair of bracelets were inside the box.
“A couple bracelets?” said Meira as she took the bracelets.
“It’s nothing fancy. But, those are actually magic items, it can track the pair, or warn the wearer if the pair is in danger.” said Cain.
Those were Higa and Lexa’s bracelets. Cain knew they would be happy if the bracelets found its use in the hands of the couple in front of him. He initially thought he would give it to Ivela, but he was more convinced that Calbot and Meira were more suitable.
“Aww, thank you, Cain.” said Meira.
“I… don't know what to say, truly, thank you, Cain. We’ll keep it well.” said Calbot while holding close Meira with his left hand.
Cain nodded.
Igo walked to him and tapped Cain’s shoulder. “I’m proud of you.” Igo smiled.
“Thank you, Your Majesty.” Cain smirked.
“I’ll let you two talk.” Igo stepped backward so Ivela could say something to Cain.
Cain chuckled.
“Thank you for the dinner again, Ivela.” said Cain.
Ivela smiled. “Make sure you have more interesting stories next time.” she said.

“Don’t worry about it,” Cain laughed. “Ah yeah, I’ve been meaning to ask, why only you who accompanied King Iligo here?” asked Cain.
“He actually wanted to go alone. Kingsmight and Dios objected until he finally let me accompanied him, just me.” Ivela replied.
“Haha, it’s so like him.” responded Cain.
Ivela laughed softly. “Alright, Cain of Palvaran, bring me the stories about your adventure when we meet again.” said Ivela.
“As you wish, Lady Silver Rose. Though I’d rather if you were in the stories.” said Cain.
Ivela just replied with a charming smile. But that smile had many meanings. Included “I want that to happen.” or. “Bleh, what a smooth talker.” Cain was just positively thinking it was the former.
Ivela petted Beil that stood near Cain's feet. “Take good care of him, Beil.” she said.
“Meip!” Beil replied.
“Okay, everyone! Farewell!” said Cain.
…
Before Cain left Haneama, he went to a market. Looking for some cheap clothes. After he bought some, he finally continued his journey to Krevias.
He walked south through a savanna and a little forest. Sometimes, he hopped on to a peddler’s carts.
On his way, he trained his mastery of the Azure Bone Gauntlet. He wanted to fully make use the Gauntlet. Because no matter how many Gomara’s techniques he unleashed, It wasn't damaged in the slightest, unlike any other weapons that would break with just one technique.
He often thought, if the weapons from the Mysticbone Hall was able to withstand two to three Gomara’s techniques, that meant the smithy nowadays was far inferior to ancient times smithy.
That was why relics and artifacts were so expensive. Because it was hard to produce weapons or items at that kind of level. Most of the techniques to create those masterpieces were long lost due to so many wars ravaged in Valfikr in the past.
Presented with this ‘indestructible’ weapon on his hand, he should use it to the fullest. Besides, as what Master Aslein said, his own bones would become stronger when he used the Gauntlet. All the more reasons to use the Azure Bone Gauntlet.
After twelve days on the road, Cain finally saw a blue in the horizon. A blue from Olren Lake. He was already inside the Krevias Kingdom’s territory.
“Look, Beil!”
“Meip!”
As they got closer. The width of the lake became fully visualized in the horizon. In the center of the lake, stood a city, Havelvaih. A castle like building was stood taller than the rest of the buildings.
Fisherman commodities were gathered at one side of the lake. And the opposite direction of it, a vast green to yellow steppe with some spires stood tall, called Kuni Steppe, still part of Krevias Kingdom.
“Ahh… the wind smells so relaxing already.” said Cain when the wind blew over his face.
“Meip.”
“What? Oh, you must be smell the fish, right?”
“Mee~eip.”
“That’s for later. Let’s go there.”
They went to a lone tree that stood on the higher ground. It gave them a full view of the lake. It was actually pretty far from the lake. But that was the best seat to see the scenery.
It was noon, Cain sat in the shade of the tree. While Beil was playing with the butterflies near the tree.
The breeze swept Cain’s face gently.
“It’s so peaceful…” said Cain.
He laid down his body to relax and closed his eyes.
After half an hour of light sleep. Beil jumped to his chest.
“Meeip! Memeeip!”
“What’s wrong, Beil?” asked Cain, his eyes still closed. “Hmm?...” he slowly sat up.
He looked to a direction behind the tree. He saw dust was rising up on the Kuni Steppe landscape.
Cain could feel a slight tremble on the ground.
“Hmm!?… a horde!? That is a horde of beasts!” said Cain in surprise.
“Meip!” Beil sounded to agree.
Cain observed the rising dust movement. It did not go to Olren Lake direction. It moved towards east. Then Cain traced what was on the eastern landscape.
“!!!”
Another rising dust was heading towards west. Towards the first rising dust.
“That’s another beast horde!!! Holy Crap! That is a Horde Brawl!” said Cain in excitement.
Just like human, beast also had their own group or horde they prefer to live with. Every horde had an Alpha to organize them. Alpha Brawl was a natural selection where the beasts fought to take the Alpha seat.
And, also like human, each beast horde had a territory they lived within. And when two hordes were fighting for a territory, it was called a Horde Brawl.
The beasts would fight the other beasts from the opposite horde until one of the Alpha was defeated.
This phenomenon was actually beneficial for human, as they did not have to do anything to reduce the beast population. So when a Horde Brawl was happening, they would only stood watch.
“Let’s take a closer look, Beil!” said Cain. He was excited. This was the first time he saw a Horde Brawl.
“Meiiip.” Beil cowered in fear, he seemed objected.
“That’s okay, we’ll be far enough for them to notice. Heck, even if we were get noticed, they wouldn’t attack us!” said Cain.
The beasts that engaged in a Horde Brawl won't attack the humans near them, unless the humans attacked them first. The beasts focused to help their Alpha to beat the opposite horde’s Alpha.
“Meip!” Beil seemed to agree after Cain’s reassurement.
With Beil on his hand. Cain leaped far, towards the Horde Brawl.

To survive a world fraught with danger Jayce will need to grow stronger with each new experience and rebuild his once forgotten house. ********************************************************************** Note: The story starts slow. Although there is more action as the story progresses, there is a fair amount of introspection and character introduction in the first 30 chapters. Jayce is the main character, however, other characters play a large role and the story is seen through multiple POV's. This is a draft, it is not a finished work. This is not a story that focuses on an OP MC who beats up on weaklings. At times there can be a fair amount of internal monologue. Some of that may be edited out when I rewrite the story. I decided to keep it in the draft because I think it is better to have too much material rather than too little when I edit. Constructive criticism is appreciated as it helps in the editing and rewriting process. Check out my other story Shattered Mind here

Game Of Thrones: Season 8 - The Right Way
Game of Thrones has been an international phenomenon... until this final season. The last few episodes went completely off the rails and everyone slams critics for saying it was bad and challenged people to write it better. I humbly want to accept that challenge and I'm giving it a shot. Some of you may like my take on things and some may not.I will (hopefully) publish each chapter as I write them, every week to two weeks, in between my daily stories and time permitting.
