《Legacy of the Ancient》Chapter 9 - Judgement

Cain sneered at Kirs.
“Bastard!” said Kirs.
Kirs jumped and executed a cross shaped swings, a red cross wave created from the swings came towards Cain.
Cain jumped to evade it. The red wave slashed the floor.
“Hah! Fool!” Kirs thrust the Eagle’s Talon upwards when he landed.
Cain who was still in the mid air was pierced by the spear. But he turned into flame and vanished.
Suddenly, Cain appeared on Kirs’s right side, another hard slap hit Kirs’s face, he flew 4 meters and fell to the ground.
“Damn! Kirs was outplayed by that man!”
“3 slaps in a row! Wow!”
“Was that magic!? It’s amazing!”
Some Kingsmight members were amazed.
It’s called Flame Phantom, from the Book of Gomara. It created a doppelganger made from fire and hid the caster presence, but only last a few seconds. It’s Cain’s favourite.
Cain used it to distract Kirs’s focus so he could land another slap easily.
“Fuck! Fuck! I will carve my name in your face when I’m done!” Kirs unmasked himself.
He stood up and tossed the Eagle’s Talon aside. He took out a small cylinder from his waist. The cylinder grew into a short spear, about 1.5 meters long.
He opened his coat and 11 knives varied in size flew out of his coat. The knives were floating 2 meters above him, pointing to Cain.
“Kirs is getting serious! That is his secret technique that made him got the 30th place!”
Kingsmight member around them became more excited.
“This is Flying Cuts! My secret technique! With this, your body will end up like your smuggler friend but with more wounds!” Kheheheheh!”
Kirs didn't realized he just admitted he tortured Higa in front of others.
“Bring it on," Cain calmly replied.
“I’ll wipe your arrogant face!” said Kirs.
Kirs took a leap forward with his short spear pointed at Cain. Knives above him also moved with high speed.
But Cain already knew, the moment Kirs took a leap, he already knew what Kirs gonna do.
Cain just stood there not moving.
Kirs’s movement stopped. His spear almost reached Cain, about an inch from Cain's face.
All the knives flew past Cain and hit the floor. If Cain were to move, his body would have been stabbed by the knives.
“H-how!? How do you know!?” Kirs did not expect Cain saw through his technique.

Cain spun his body towards Kirs.
Kirs retracted his spear and held it close to defend from Cain’s move. When Cain hit him with his back shoulder, Kirs was flown past above the Kingsmight that watching. He crashed a huge pillar and fell. His spear split in two.
“How do I know? Hmm, I spend my life sparring with the best spear user. I already know from the moment you leap forward. You intentionally won’t hit me with the spear, instead you use the knives to finish the job," said Cain.
But he would not hear Cain’s explanation, he was already unconscious.
Some Kingsmight went to check on him.
“He’s still alive! Wait… oh shit! Most all of his bones are broken!”
Cain used Spinning Turtle, with centrifugal force, it hit very hard that would break and shatter bones.
Most of Kingsmight members were shocked. Cain beat Kirs with just a few moves, he didn’t even receive any hits. With that alone, they knew Cain had strength on par with the top ten of Kingsmight.
“Interesting fellow, you taught him that technique?” Dios whispered to Igo.
“Nope, that technique probably from the book," said Igo.
“And that was magic, wasn't it? The flame? You said he has no affinity towards elemental magic," another question by Dios.
“Indeed, I was also surprised when I heard he destroyed West Pillar with magic. Heck, it was even creation magic. Probably also from the book.”
Cain took Eagle’s Talon and walked towards Ivela who was standing in front of the throne. Ivela didn't say a word, but she seemed amazed at Cain.
“You’ve become so strong, Cain," Igo praised him.
“I learnt from the best," said Cain.
“I see…” Igo looked at Kirs that being carried for treatment. “Tell me Cain, why you didn't just kill him? None of the Kingsmight die today. Even with the fiery explosion at the base. Why holding back?”
“Oh I really want to… I really want to kill them. I even promised Higa that I would turn Arozora upside down if I can't find Lexa. I’m holding the urge to kill them with my hardest. But it’s also Higa that made me didn't kill them. He just said… kick their asses. Then I realize, I’ll just make them suffer as they live for what they have done," said Cain coldly.
“Higa didn't ask me to kill them,” Cain continued, “he even drew the man that tortured him the last. The first? Obviously the Kingsmight that harmed Lexa. You see, he always put others first. Even Lexa… Lexa told me not to hate the Kingsmight, only those seven. Heh, were they naive?... Maybe I am. But they’re gone now, and I’m done with my vengeance! Old man, pass me the judgement!”

Igo sighed and remained silent for a time. Then he stood up.
“Alright… Because of his crime, that is destroying a Kingdom-owned property, I, King Iligo Maxigun of Arozora, hereby declare, Cain of Palvaran is banished from Arozora for 5 years!”
“Huh!?” Everyone in the hall was surprised at King Iligo’s declaration.
“What!?” Cain no exception.
“But, Your Majesty! This man is dangerous! We should give him a death sentence!” Bagulv spoke his disagreement.
“He’s not dangerous, Bagulv. Kingsmight made him like that,” Dios said that without looking at Bagulv.
Cain was just silent. He was prepared for any consequences, but he never imagined he would be banished from his homeland.
“Besides, it’s Kingsmight’s fault to begin with," Dios continued.
The crowd was getting restless.
“My decision is final. Cain, you will leave Arozora the day after tomorrow. You can go anywhere but no entry for Arozora in 5 years from the day you leave. If you do, you’ll be regarded as a trespasser and will be dealt with our rules," said King Iligo.
Cain looked at Igo’s eyes. Clearly this was the act of forgiving from a teacher to his disciple.
“I see… thank you, Your Majesty," Cain bowed.
“Your Majesty! Then I should receive a judgement as well!” said Ivela. “I failed as a Kingspillar, I failed to control the men under my command!” Ivela also bowed to Igo. She felt she had a part of this incident. She felt responsible.
“Ivela!?” Bagulv was surprised to hear that.
“Hmm…” Igo rubbed his beard.
“Ahh, actually, she’s fine as she is now,” claimed Cain. “Lexa told me, one of the Kingsmight said that Lady Caral ordered to deal with the children first then the smugglers. And this Kingsmight that looked like in charge ordered to handle the smugglers first. I think his name is Olsam or something," Cain looked at Igo then Ivela.
All of the Kingsmight’s gaze shifted to Olsam. He stood in the front row.
Olsam said nothing, yet his face clearly stiffened.
“Olsam, we’re gonna have a talk," Ivela’s face was dead serious.
Olsam could only bowed his head.
“Your Majesty, I have another request, last request," Cain really had a lot in his mind, but he kept composed.
Igo nodded.
“Don't disclose what has happened at Kingsmight to public. Can’t let people start to think the Kingsmight is not reliable anymore," said Cain.
This incident would hurt Kingsmight’s fame, Cain worried there would be rumours based on this, and rumours were usually exaggerated. This could make the Kingsmight lose its credibility in the eyes of the people and made the Kingdom in jeopardy.
The Kingsmight members were surprised at Cain’s last request.
Igo closed his eyes a bit then he agreed to Cain’s request.
“But, what will we say to the people?” Dios looked to Igo.
“Just put in on me, but don’t tell them why I did it," Cain answered that easily.
The Throne Hall got quiet.
“Are you sure about that?” Dios was certainly amazed by Cain.
“No problem, as long as the Kingsmight keep out themselves from the likes of those seven. And I’m banished anyway, I have nothing to lose," Cain shrugged.
Dios looked at Igo again and approved with the King’s nod.
Bagulv was speechless. He never thought that Cain actually cared about the consequences the Kingsmight would face from today’s events. He regretted want him dead, he felt ashamed.
“Thank you, for standing up for me and the Kingsmight, even after we treat you badly," said Ivela.
She smiled gently to Cain. Her impression of Cain after the incident had turned 180 degrees. She was really impressed, that Cain still thought of Kingsmight after what they did to him.
Not only her, Most of the Kingsmight also felt the same, they were amazed by Cain’s action. He saved Kingsmight’s face from the public and let the blame placed on him.
Cain smiled back bitterly.
A clap could be heard from Kingsmight crowd, followed by a round of applause by the entire people in the Throne Hall including Dios, Bagulv and Igo.
“He’s really fascinating, he’s really your disciple," Dios spoke to Igo while clapping.
Igo smiled. He stopped clapping and waved his hand, the applause was stopped.
“That’s it. You’re all dismissed. Cain, come with me to the terrace.”

A Bloody Game

When everything turns into a zero sum game of dog eat dog, they'll find that The Hunter is an all too willing participant, but he will soon find out that he isn't the only player of this game. First story I'm posting and I don't really have a cool synopsis, sorry everyone, but this story is just another LitRPG apocalypse. I guess the only difference is that the main character isn't a hero. He's not here to save the world, he's not here to make friends, and he's definitely not here to save everyone. He's probably what the villains in other similar stories would be actually. Just writing for fun, advice or constructive critism is welcomed, writing style prone to change. Warning: Incredible amounts of poor grammar, Gore, Profanities, Traumatizing content, and cliches(I plan to have multiple main characters, maybe this is too ambitious for my poor skills, but it seems like it would be fun to try, the other MCs won't show up until later on.) The cover image isn't mine I just found it online. It's a piece by Stephanie Frey This takes inspiration from a lot of great stories on here, but I find the beginning to be most similar to Blood Lust by DefinitelyNotJormlung. Starcraft and Warhammer 40k and survival world rpg by S_Conary will also influenced this (at least that's my plan if I ever get that far or finish this) Also please stay with me until chapter 3. I suck at starting stories, but have been told I get better as I'm further along.
