《First》Ch. 04 Mirajia Redknight A1

It wasn’t much to look at but it was beautiful in their eyes, her eyes, Mirajia Redknight.

Cranes were holding her up, the shield of Paroxysm, over the edge of the Avalon. She would be the guild ship of the newly flourishing guild, Paroxysm.

The first test began as a dim blue light began to glow from behind her aft. Her main drive unit was in its startup sequence.

1,2,3,4 and all 5 engines started up as intended allowing the cranes to let go. Blue magical lines made of special runes began to shine at her underside, providing her hull with the lift it needed to support her weight. She was now independent of Avalon.

Mirajia, as well as others of her guild roared in excitement and it was justified. Much work had gone into gathering the means to reach this point and now, they could officially call themselves a guild. With this ship they would not be limited to play in the current continent of Trent and be allowed to expand their interests beyond its borders.

There was a loud boom from the Avalon, followed by a few more just like it. Everyone fell silent but as the Shield rotated its guns and fired, they simply began cheering even more. The Avalon had just launched targets to test the shields gun emplacements and they had all hit their marks. The Avalon then fired on the shield and was met with a semitransparent shield of blue appearing at the point of impact. The shield’s magic shields had just been tested and had passed.

The last test was maneuvering and the drive unit became a hot blue to meet it.

A smaller utility craft of Avalon flew out and fired smoke bombs to create rings. They would not continue to exist for long but it was enough to see the shield through them and test its steering and thrust capabilities.

The crowd continued to roar in excitement as the ship moved away and showed them how it could fly.

Then it returned and the tests were done.

Everyone clambered aboard. As the cost of the ship was payed up front, there was no need to delay.

They had one task in mind, to touch the resonance stone. It was a clear crystal ball located in a large room near the heart of the ship. Registration to it meant that when someone died in First, their body would be resurrected near this small sphere. Players also had the ability to cast a spell of recall that did the same thing but without death and limitations for activation. One could not use recall while receiving hostile intent at present or for a set time of it passing. This meant you couldn’t use it to run away from a conflict and had to find the means to disengage yourself for sufficient time to activate it. Still, even with that limitation it was more than useful for gathering the guild members when they were needed to work together.

Mirajia touched the small sphere and felt slight chill run through her, connecting her somehow to this spot.

The last one to touch it was a Growler Draconis, Mirajia’s Guild leader and head Paroxysm. He then spoke.

“Shield of Paroxysm. Set course for the nearest available class 3 hunting grounds.”

A female, sweet, and childlike voice returned to him.

“Course laid in. Avalon has been notified of our departure. We are now on route to Trent fire salamander territory 72. Class 3.”

More cheers erupted from others hearing the voice of their ship for the first time. Even Mirajia couldn’t contain herself and let out a little yelp.

Their guild was here, now and ready. It was beginning.
