《Peerless Hegemon [OLD]》16. Separation

Midnight came, and Ame's tears stopped, she entered the house and went inside the room of their parents.
"I didn't think I would be attached to them this much." Ame said to Kiel, who was standing behind her.
"Well, no matter what you say, they are our parents, still. Whoever you may have been, that will not change."
"I supposed you are correct… but I just didn't think it would cause me to have such sad emotions. I cried, and I didn't even do that when I was besieged in all eight extremities, it seems like I caught your disease of wanting to have a family… can't say I don't appreciate it." Ame giggled, and Kiel tapped her shoulders.
"So, when are you going to leave for the Celestial Phoenix Mountain? In an hour or tomorrow, perhaps?" Kiel asked as he walked past her.
Ame didn't answer, and Kiel turned around to face his sister, "Is something the matter?"
"… no, I was just thinking if I should actually postpone my departure to the sect for until Mother and Father return… after all, they did say they'll come back quickly, right? Besides, you might become lonely if I don't stay here and wait for them." Ame said while laughing.
Kiel looked at his sister and shook his head. Approaching this sister of his, he readied his finger and then, TAK! Kiel flicked Ame's forehead, resulting in her head being knocked back.
"OW! THAT HURTS!" She cried as she felt Kiel's flick, "You used Spear Energy in that, didn't you!?"
Kiel did not answer and simply threatened her with another flick on the forehead, "Don't try and patronize me, lass. I am saddened, but you do not need to pity me… I will live, and that is all that matters." Kiel showed Ame a sigh before exiting the house.

"Where are you going?" Ame said as she rubbed her hurting forehead.
"I am going to take a walk. As for you, you should focus on your cultivation, without mother and father, you are now free to do anything you want to do. I do not want to get caught in any inconvenience that may happen, so I will leave for the time being.
"Once I return, you better have already opened your Spirit Sea and become a True Spirit Realm." Kiel's words did not have much weight like always… he was acting the same after regaining himself.
Ame was now alone in their house, she decided to enter their room and then open the Dimensional Bangle, "This is… an Inferno Devourer? What is an Ascension Realm Soul-Beast doing here?" she couldn't believe what she was seeing as she found a Soul-Beast that was raging with fire and power.
Other than the Soul-Beast Infernal Devourer, there were also Stellar Stones, meant to assist her cultivation, there was also a paper. Ame opened this paper and what she was found was a letter from her Father and Mother:
[It appears that you have opened your Dimensional Bangle, this is our gift to you, the Inferno Devourer. You might be confused why we would give you such a strong Soul-Beast when a cultivator can only receive a Soul-Beast that is a realm above them. Our reasoning is simple, that is because you and your brothers' Soul Energy is strong. This had been so since when you were born, we do not know the reason why this is so, but we are not complaining.
[We believe that this Inferno Devourer can be overcome by you with the help of your Soul Energy. If you are to travel to the World of Cultivation, you would need every advantage you can get. If you use this Inferno Devourer, it will help with your advancement in the future. We wish you all the best in your journey, our lovely daughter — your parents.]

Ame smiled after reading this letter, "Hahaha, it appears that our parents were perceptive… thank you, Mother, Father."
Ame brought out the Inferno Devourer's Soul that was the size of an adult's fist. Using her Spirit Energy, she turned Soul-Beast into a puff of crimson smoke and then absorbed it inside her.
Inside Ame's body, there was only darkness, but then, she gathered her Spirit Energy and turned it to a cyclone and then into a spherical pocket of Spirit Energy.
'Now, let us have combat, you poor soul—'
Ame's eyes widened as she awakened the Inferno Devourer, the Soul-Beast came alive.
"You damn brat! Do you think you can enslave me!?"
The Inferno Devourer began to roar and inside of Ame's body there appeared chains formed using both her Spirit Energy and Soul. A Soul-Beast can only be claimed by exhausting it using the Soul Energy of the cultivator.
Cultivators of the Consolidated Realm usually die because of being overpowered by the Soul-Beast where they are devoured.
Ame, however, was smiling as she began fighting with the Inferno Devourer, she didn't want to fail her parents… and so, a fight inside her body began.
Kiel's steps regained its perpetual energy and his perfect strides that both existed and didn't, surfaced. Moving as if he was the wind, Kiel soon reached the very edge of the Forest, he smiled as he touched the trunk of a tree.
Taking in deep breaths, Kiel gathered his strength and forced his body to its limits, his veins began to feel like it was about to burst and as blood drip down his nostrils and eyes, he whispered, "Heaven and Hell Palms — 5th Level Mastery [Dominion Palm (Incomplete)]."
The tree trembled but was not destroyed as Kiel's palms were retracted, a smoldering Bloody Palm Imprint was carved on the tree's surface.
Kiel felt like his body was being turned inside out, he was about to implode, so using his fingers, he punctured three acupoints near the heart and the main organ at the end, he ended up spatting boiling blood.
"This should be enough, right?"
Kiel then coated his hand with Spear Energy to carve out the handprint he made. Instead of keeping it inside the Dimensional Bangle, Kiel carried it with him. Though he wanted to place it inside the bangle, he had no Spirit Energy to speak of so with his bloodied palms he left for Lily Town.
He continued walking and walking until he reached the Town Lord's gates. Kiel was on the other side of the road as he looked over the gates.
Staring at the mansion beyond, Kiel moved and then went over the walls. It was already night, but the Town Lord's Manor was still busy… the incident in the Vollund Family was showing its effect.
Kiel, however, did not care about this as he walked over to one of the posted guards and said, "Please, tell the disciples of the Celestial Phoenix Mountain that my sister, Ame, requires their help."

Johanna Milton and her friends have an answer: delve into Ancient ruins, avoid Changed beasts and mana pockets, and salvage Ancient materials, collectibles, and trinkets to sell. Suddenly, Talents straight out of fantasy novels become theirs. While they try to make sense of what happens, eyes turn to them, to the four who seem to break all rules. Or are they merely following them? Because, in the Beyond where he's spent 150 years waiting, one dead Ancient knows the truth. Douglas Moore has played those games often enough when he was alive to make sense of the System that rules the Changed world. He can no longer act on his own, but he has access to the Interface. And four people for which he can bring whatever it takes to face the world. Change is coming. The Changed Ones is a slow-burn litrpg fantasy trilogy (Ancient Bones, Ancient Books, Ancient Bonds) set on Earth, 150 years after the RPG Apocalypse... which mostly failed. It is an homage to the venerable ancient RPGs of the Golden Box era, the Baldur's Gates, and many others, offering adventure where You must gather your party before venturing forth. Keywords: LitRPG, realistic setting, low-leveling, post-post-apocalypse, fantasy earth, slow-burn, secondary POVs, female primary MC, team adventure, worldbuilding. Trigger warnings: casual swearing, adult innuendo (no explicit scenes whatsoever, though). Oh, and potentially a bit of politics. Bonus content: a Litrpg Easter Egg hunt. With lots of eggs across the book, some easy, some hard to find. Current score: 6/20 (20 eggs, 6 found) Publication schedule: on hold until September for book 2.
