volume 2 upgrade specialist chapter 25 - the final battle begins
Having spent the last few days attacking, the number of bandits had been reduced greatly. of the 10,000 normal bandits around 5000 remained. Though it was more than I hoped it wasn't going to ruin the plan. On the other hand the soul cultivators had been decimated. Of the original 100 only 15 remained. Even then only two of them were soul personage.
Overall we had been hugely successful over the last few days. Each day I would take a different G rank with me. Mainly to prove my power. As everyone had been training hard I didn't want anyone to get any ideas about betraying me.
Now on the final day of the mission we planned to have a final assault against the bandits. So far we had yet to see the chieftain or vice chieftain. Today would be the day we killed them. Though most of the unranked were unconcerned with completing the mission it was another thing for the G ranks.
Having talked it over we came up with a battle plan. The unranked as well as Alice, Aries and Gareth would deal with the 4000 bandits. As they were specialised in group combat they would struggle in a fight against one opponent.
The bob's as well as Chenfeng would deal with the vice chieftain. Though I wouldn't normaly place the bob's against such an opponent with the injurie he had received from me he had probably lost over half of his combat potential.
That left me and Yunfei against the chieftain. Though I had confidence against him it was still uncertain. I had not met him yet so I couldn't judge his power. Hopefully the strength of me and Yunfei, who had recently broken through to late soul personage, could stand up to him.
Having set up the plan I had everyone pack up anything they had here. While people were packing I made one final visit to carbones. Though we had a business relationship after training with him for so long we had built up a friendship.
Solomon: it seems we have run out of time.
Carbones: so it does, I must say, it has been fun.
Looking at his gigantic frame the fire in his eyes seemed to be more dim than usual.
Solomon: if I had the choice I would stay here to train with you, unfortunately I can't. However you have helped me greatly since I have been here. If I can I will repay you in the future.
I took this promise to heart. Though it had been short I had built a real friendship with him, if I could I would help him.
Carbones: hahaha, I'm sure you will, little one. Have fun with those bandits.
He then got up and began to walk to the cave's exit.
Carbones: I hope we meet in the future. Good luck.
Having said his goodbyes he took off into the skies. As flew out he let out a tremendous roar, before disappearing into the horizon

Carbones: RAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHH
As I watched one of my few friends disappear a sadness appeared in my heart. However I had to steady my heart. Soon I would fight to the death. Now as not the time for this.
After walking down from the cave I was greeted by everyone stood waiting. Looking at the people who had worked under me during this mission I felt rather nostalgic. Though they weren't all people I would consider friends they were not strangers either.
With whirling emotions, I came to a decision I had been brooding on. Solomon: well everyone, it is the final day. It seems our time together is drawing to an end. As I'm sure you all know I plan to create a guild when I leave this mission.
Though Chengfeng and Yunfei were there, I'm sure they would just interpret my words within the confines of this world.
Solomon: as the to be leader of this guild I would like to formally invite you all to my guild. Though we have only been together a small amount of time I trust you all. If you ever wish you can have a place in my guild.
Though these unranked were here as they had already refused a guilds invitation this was different for them. Unlike before when they were being asked by a underling to become slave to a guild this time it was a guild masters invitation. Having spent time with me they all had a rough understanding of my character. However more than this they had personally experienced my leadership. They knew I would not lead them to slaughter like they were sheep.
After letting my offer sink in I continued on.
Solomon: as you've been invited to my guild I refuse to accept any of you dying here. Understood?
Everyone: UNDERSTOOD!
Having delivered a small pre-battle speech I led everyone to the bandit's stronghold.
After 10 minutes of walking we made it to the stronghold. Telling everyone to take a rest I let everyone restore themselves to peak condition. I didn't want anyone entering this battle weakened.
Another 10 minutes later I gave the order to attack.
Solomon: GROUP A, MOVE OUT.
Group a referring to the mainly unranked team. In accordance to the plan they ran out toward the stronghold. Having stayed on this side every time we attacked I had reeked havoc on the southern wall. Under the constant barrage of my attack it had been eroded away, leaving a 50 meter gap.
The plan was for them to charge at the gap, attacking the bandits inside. Once they had gathered a group of bandits they would attack them while constantly retreating, bringing the bandits outside of the stronghold into the surrounding clearing,
While they did this the rest of us would loop around to the eastern side, infiltrating the stronghold sneakily. With the distraction of the first group we hoped to avoid detection. If we were detected we would wipe them out before they could alert others. Worst case and we were exposed we would just have to fight our way through.

As a group made of mostly G ranks none of the bandits except for the chieftain and vice chieftain could stop us.
Following the plan we looped around towards the eastern side. Avoiding detection we made it there after a few minutes. Looking at the wall we could see that most of the men had left. On the section of the wall before us only 6 men stood guard.
I imagined that as the size of the other group was many times larger than previous groups, they were panicking.
Solomon: it looks good for us. Yunfei can you run up to the wall fast and dispose of those bandits, If we take too long getting their some of them could escape.
Being that we were moving as a group we moved at the slowest members speed. The 3 bob's in their full armour were considerably slower than Yunfei. Especially with his physically strengthening energy.
Yunfei: okay.
Speeding off Yunfei sprinted at the wall, the rest of the group following slowly behind. As the bandits caught sight of us they began to panic, it was clear that most of them had gone to the southern side. The bandits here probably thought that they had no chance of stopping us.
Realising this the smarter bandits tried to run away. Unfortunately for them they would not get the chance. Yunfei seeing them running sped up. Reaching a speed of at least 40 miles per hour.
When he reached the wall he jumped towards it, angling his momentum upwards. Like a deft monkey he ran up the wall, eventually reaching the top and continuing a few meters into the air. When he fell back down he landed atop one of the bandits, crushing him.
Using a mixture of extreme speed and practised technique he slaughtered all of the bandits on the wall. Then continuing onto the ones on the other side. After reaching the gate we entered to see the leftover carnage.
Looking at the surrounding around 50 bandits lay dead on the ground. Seeing this surprising display of strength I wondered if my previous display was enough. If he had this level of power to kill so many bandits in under a minute my attack may not intimidate him.
However it was too late to worry about that. We were at the final fight. There was no choice but to press through. If he betrayed us I would have to deal with it at the time.
Solomon: impressive, anyway let's get moving.
Hearing my comment everyone else looked at me, then nodded. We moved on from the wall, moving inwards. As I had learned from the long dead hall master, the chieftain and vice chieftain lived in the centre of the stronghold.
As we ran we noticed the lack of bandits. Though we hadn't expected many, having both killed over half of them and created a distraction, it was still odd.
After 20 minutes of travel we had made our way to the centre of the stronghold. As we approached we could see the chieftains residence. A 3 stories mansion stretching out over a hundred meter, it must have contained over 30 rooms. Compared to the many small houses present in the stronghold it stuck out like a sore thumb.
It had plain white walls with roman style pillars placed periodically around the building. Along with a red tile roof and huge wooden double doors it fit with the style of roman architecture. As we approached we clearly knew our target.
As we came within 30 meters of the mansion we were attacked. Three arrows came flying at us from the roof of the mansion. As I had kept my vigilance I reacted quickly, rolling forward. As I stood u I saw that the arrows were all aimed at where I was. I imagined they saw me as the largest threat and as such wanted to kill me quickly.
However I was not so easy to kill. Looking up I saw who had attacked me. Stood at the centre of the building were four figures. Three of which I did not recognize but the last I definitely knew. With one missing arm and several deep scares the vice chieftain Yang Tian.
Solomon: IT HAS BEEN A WHILE, YANG TIAN. HOW COULD YOU GRETT AN OLD FRIEND LIKE THIS?
There was a clear sarcasm and disdain in my voice as I insulted the vice chieftain.
Yang tian: YOU MAY LAUGH NOW, BUT WE WILL SEE WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY WHEN I AM SKINNING YOU ALIVE!
speaking through clenched teeth, you could tell he was furious.
Taking the initiative the four of them attacked us. Surprisingly, the three unknown bandits displayed strength equal to the vice chieftain. It appeared they had kept these fighter secret to use as a trump card.
Even after all my planning I had not anticipated this. To have so many strong fighters that had been hidden was truly unpredicted. Reacting quickly I issued several orders.
Solomon: YUNFEI TAKE ONE OF THEM, THE REST OF YOU TAKE CARE OFF THE VICE CHIEFTAIN!
Having given all the needed instructions I charged at two of the bandits. I had given Yunfei and equal opponent in order to have him finish his fight quickly. With his enhancements it would not take long.
As for Chenfeng and the bob's I hoped they could take on the vice chieftain. After his fight with me he had lost a huge amount of his combat potential. Even if they couldn't win they should hold out until either Yunfei or i could assist them.
Stopping in front of two of the bandits, I squared off with them.
Solomon: let's have some fun, shall we.
