volume 2 upgrade specialist chapter 15 - breakthrough
The trump card I pulled out was dragons fire.
Yang Tian: what's a book goi
before he could finish I was in the training space with Pluvia.
Solomon: I have to breakthrough now Pluvia
Lifting her head she sighed.
Pluvia: haaah, why did you have to rush it, it would only take a couple days to break through.
Solomon: it's too late now, have you got something that'll help me?
Standing up, she flew out into the magma around the island. A few seconds later she emerged carrying a melon sized red stone.
Pluvia: this is my demonic core, if you use this you can breakthrough.
Solomon: but won't that affect you?
Pluvia: it will, but I'll recover. If you die now how long do I have to wait to recover?
Recognizing the name I knew this was very important to Pluvia. Demonic cores were balls of qi that condensed in demonic beasts. It carried their qi like a dantian in a human. If they lost their core it would cripple their cultivation. Knowing this I hesitated on using it.
Solomon: is there no other way?
Pluvia: there is, but it's not likely to succeed. This way is safer.
Hearing there was an alternative warmed my heart. Knowing that she was willing to give up her core rather than have me risk myself made my impression of her skyrocket. I vowed to myself that one day, I would release her from her prison.
Solomon: I'll use the other way. Even if it's risky for me it shouldn't affect you. Even if I die you will be passed on with the book, at least until it finds a new user
As I spoke the expression in Pluvia's eyes softened.
Pluvia: alright, I won't force you. I have 1 dry spirit pill, these help cultivators under the fifth level breakthrough. As there is only one you will have to breakthrough after using it.
Saying so she flicked it towards me. Grabbing it I felt a huge weight drop on my shoulders. If I failed I would die.
Sitting down I swallowed the pill. As soon as it touched my tongue it dissolved, flowing down my throat. By the time it reached my stomach it had turned into qi. As I felt the qi it lowered from my stomach to settle in my dantian. Though I could not control it I knew that it would assist me.
Without wasting time I lifted up my arms, initiating the yang absorbing technique. As the energy flooded into me it was filtered through the pills qi, becoming my own. Knowing this was crucial time I pushed my technique to it's limits. Absorbing as much qi as I could.
After a few minutes of this my qi was back to full. At this point I could feel I only had a minute of the pills effects left. Pushing all my qi into my arms I forced the technique even further, as the huge amount of qi was forcing its way through my arm the muscles on my arm began to tear. I could feel the qi tearing up my passageways as it past. If I didn’t breakthrough now I would be crippled.

Taking my qi I pushed all the foreign qi into my dantian. As it was pushed into the pills qi it resisted my control. As it thrashed around in my gut it hit several organs, causing me to spit blood. Feeling that the time was right I pushed all of my qi into the foreign qi at once, forcing it into the pills qi. As this qi melded into the pills it began to become mine. At first only a little was taken, then some more, after 3 seconds half of it was under my control.
With this new qi inside my dantian was full. Using the final half as a catalyst I forced all of my qi, as well as the newly gained foreign qi, into my dantian. Under the strain my dantians wall began to erode away. Every time it was damaged I would use a little qi to heal it. This process of fixing and breaking down was extremely painful. It felt like a bowling all was being smashed into my organs over and over.
After a few minutes of this pain I was beginning to lose myself. The cycle breaking down my body was also breaking my will. Just a I was about to succumb a crack formed in my dantian. Unlike the previous ones this one was not damage to it, but a sign of breaking through. Using the crack I forced all of my qi into it. The longer I pressured it the larger the crack grew.
When the crack spread all around my dantian I gave one final push. With this the wall fell. Like a breath of fresh air the size of my dantian doubled, becoming large enough to accommodate my increase in qi.
Collapsing on the floor I lay still, letting the refreshing feeling of a breakthrough encompass me.
Pluvia: well done little one, with this you’ve broken through to the second stage of qi condensation.
Feeling the qi in my Dantian I could tell it had doubled. Compared to when I started there was 4 times as much. Also after the breakthrough, my control over it had improved greatly.
Solomon: haaaah, I hope every breakthrough isn't like that.
Pluvia: don’t worry, from what I could tell that breakthrough was as strong as the breakthrough to foundation establishment.
Sitting up I looked at my body. Covering my skin was a layer of black soot.
Solomon: huh, is this impurity cleansing?
Pluvia: once again I'm impressed with your knowledge little one, this black soot is the impurities that have been removed from you body. Though it looks a lot more that it should be.
Lowering her head Pluvia sniffed me.
Solomon: is it bad? Did I push myself too far?
Pluvia: from what I can tell little one, this is a stroke of luck. It looks like to compensate for your early breakthrough your body used its impurity's. This should make your future breakthrough easier, as well as increasing your training speed.

Solomon: hahaha, it seems my efforts have paid off. I'd say this was worth the pain.
Such a bonus was extremely useful. Not only for now, but far into the future, it will make training faster.
Pluvia: it's lucky that you got this for your efforts, but you shouldn't make a habit of these breakthroughs.
Solomon: don’t worry Pluvia, I definitely don’t want to feel pain like that again. Anyway, it looks like my time is up, I'll see you tomorrow.
Bidding my farewell I left the training room, appearing back in front of Yang Tian
Yang Tian: ng, huh how did you do that?
For him I had suddenly gained a huge amount of power, confusing him greatly.
Solomon: well then let's finish this.
Holding my hand up I used a 16th of my qi to activate the flame serpent art. With my current abilities I could use 5 different levels of power. one 32nd 16th 8th 4th and a half of my qi. As this attack formed a lizard the size of my finger. As the attack sped towards him Yang Tian he jumped to the side to avoid it.
Taking this opportunity I grabbed the arcane orb, pumping a 4th of my qi into it. As he landed I sent the attack flying at him. With the speed of the attack he had no time to dodge it. As it hit he lifted up his sword, hoping to absorb most of the damage with it. When the orb hit the sword it let out an explosive flame, spreading out to cover his body, before flying back to me.
With my new level of control I had created a new type of attack. Changing the way the qi exploded forth I made it explode out to cover a 10 meter area. With this I had 2 ways to use my flame serpent art, either to focus on a single spot or to attack an area.
As the fire cleared I could see Yang tian. His skin was severely burnt and the sword he held was broken in two.
Standing up he threw away the broken sword.
Yang Tian: to have pushed me this far, you're very strong. Now I'll fight you with my full power.
At this point he pulled out a curved yellow sword, similar to a scimitar. As he held the blade it began to emit a dull yellow light. Sword in hand he charged towards me. The difference in speed compared to before was like heaven and earth. Even with the 30 meter space between us he would reach me in 2 seconds.
Holding up the arcane orb I pumped half of my qi into it, ready to activate the attack. When Yang Tian reached me he prepared to run me through. Even with my enhanced senses I could only barely follow his movement. As the sword was thrust towards my chest I shifted to the right, causing it to stab through my shoulder.
Through the sword a heavy energy entered my body. To ward it off I sent the remaining quarter of my qi to block it. As the energies thought I grabbed the hilt of the sword, stopping Yang Tian from removing it.
Solomon: game over
Reaching forward with my other hand I smashed the arcane orb into him, activating the flame serpent art. As the focused explosion hit him he shifted his body away, releasing the sword. With the shockwave from the attack I was blown back, landing 2 meters away. I sat up to see the damage I had done.
Laying on the floor 5 or so meters away was Yang Tian. On the left side of his body, he was missing his arm, as well as having injuries all the way up his torso.
Seeing him incapacitated I looked at my own injury. Still planted in my left shoulder was the yellow scimitar. It had lost Its lustre when Yang Tian stopped supplying it energy. First I destroyed the energy that had entered my body. Without anyone controlling it, it was easy to remove.
Then I removed the sword. As it came out huge spurts of blood shot from my shoulder.
Solomon: ah shit, I really need to upgrade my body more.
After treating the wound and wrapping it with a bandage, the only pain left was a slight throbbing.
Standing up I grabbed the yellow scimitar. Walking over to Yang Tian I prepared to kill him. About half way to Yang Tian a huge mass of men spilt ou of the forest towards me.
Men: SAVE THE VICE CHIEFTAIN, KILL THE INTRUDER.
The thousands of men who had come out of the stronghold had made their way here. Even with the increased power, I couldn't face off against them.
Solomon: I'll kill you another time.
Turning around I ran towards the southern side of the stronghold. With my speed I had outrun them, but if I dawdled they would catch up.
As I ran I kept an eye out for Aries. Though I had held off Yang Tian for a decent amount of time she was carrying three people.
About half way there I caught sight of her. She was struggling to carry the three men behind her.
Running over I shouted towards her.
Solomon: ARIES, RUN
Startled by my sudden appearance she dropped the three men.
Aries: Solomon, what happened?
Solomon: There's no time, I'll carry these two, carry Yunfei and run.
After Picking up Xiao Chen and Chenfeng I kept running, Aries in tow.

So What If I'm Trash? Who Needs Cultivation?!
Qing Shan Long. They say he isn't human. An escaped experiment from some government facility, a reincarnation of a saint, a freakish superhuman. Whatever he was one thing was clear. Be it Music, Martial Arts, Science, whatever he does he excels. He was a whimsical man. A great man. A man who craving for knowledge and excitement knows no bounds, whose collection of books and personal library would even make Alexander the Great green with envy. He donated to all manners of charities and funded many projects for helping the poor and disabled. A self made man who single handedly founded one of the largest corporations in the world, Wen Qu Technologies, whose influences reach from vast fields of expertise. From objects of war such as the newest aircrafts, droids, and body armor; to life saving medicine and vaccines; to even the mundane such as video games and the fast food industry. A legendary example of determination and hard work. He was in his car being driven to a business meeting to disclose a deal that would help ensure the country could have access to clean energy and help reduce the pollution that has been plaguing his homeland for the past millenia when he was assassinated and woke up in a strange new world. How will Qing Shan deal with his new environment where the strong suppresses the weak? From the top of the world he suddenly finds himself free falling to rock bottom. Unable to cultivate, a weak body, and all but disowned by his family. (For those who read comics and watch cartoons, imagine him as being Tony Stark, Richard Reeds, Jimmy Neutron, etc level of 'Genius'. ) My own spin on some familar tropes. Another reincarnation into another world story. The MC will take over the body of someone with a trash body that can't cultivate and will be hated and neglected by his family. Pretty typical so far right? Except there won't be some amazing miracle to heal our MC, there isn't some magical grandpa to teach him some OP thing which only his trash body can use, there isn't a hidden op bloodline, and he is not from a super amazing assassin clan or genius doctor. He isn't the chosen one, he's just a guy trying his best to make something with a crap situation. First attempt at a wuxia type story! I like playing with common tropes, maybe adding a twist, to playing it straight as a classic. I have absolutely no idea where this is going to take me but please do give your input and I'll do my best so that everyone has a say in where our journey will go. I'll admit the only knowledge I have of chinese history and ancient society is from reading light novels translated to english and some old dramas, so if I make some social passe just take it as because this is another world, not exactly an AU where magic and stuff actually exist. I'm also not actually Chinese and will basically using google to help me with names and other such, if I make a mistake please let me know! (Even if you don't like the story or couldn't bare to get past chapter 1 please leave a comment so I can find out where to improve, thank you!)
