volume 1 berserk final interval chapter 11 – FIGHT!
As I drifted through these dreams was reliving my life. From the childhood mischief, to the hellish studying of school, finishing at my death. As I once again faced the scene of my death a deep hatred, that I had long forgotten burst out. The endless rage building up within me, I faced the cause of my death.
Arthur: hello dear brother, its been so long. I have a small favour to ask, please die.
And for a second time I was attacked. So fast that I couldn't tell how. Laying on the cold pavement I felt the familiar hatred grow. From the first time I saw it as a tiny flame, to what it now was, a massive inferno. Once again I screamed out my injustice to the heavens.
Solomon: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGHHHHH!
Sitting up on my bed I gasped for air, sweat covering me. Realising it was just a dream I calmed down. Getting up I went to the bathroom. Staring at myself in the mirror the fear of death was still in my eyes.
After having a shower and getting dressed I had recovered. Walking outside I stood in front of Alice's door. Taking a deep breath I knocked on the door. Opening it was Alice wearing a white blouse and black skirt.
Alice: morning.
Solomon: morning, is Gareth here yet?
Alice: he came by earlier, letting me know that he was heading out.
Solomon: okay, shall we do some training then.
Coming in we settled down to do training. After doing my hour with Pluvia I continued with normal training. Then when Gareth returned he told us what he had learnt. Like this 2 more days passed.
Over the days my training had been fruitful, currently my qi had doubled from its original. According to pluvia in order to increase it more I had to have a breakthrough. I knew that the next enhancement for my qi was 4th stage cultivator. It also said I had to be 3rd stage qi cultivator to purchase. So I already knew I had to breakthrough twice, just not how to. Pluvia said that without a pill to help me it would take about a week.
Other than my progress Alice had also improved. Her rift power now had another 15% added to the original. Though she felt rather inferior compared to me, she was still making good progress. Especially when she doesn’t have a training method.
Other than this nothing important had happened this past 2 days. Despite his effort, Gareth had not learned anything new. Now on the evening before we attempted our mission I explained the plans. Sitting around the coffee table in the living room I explained my plan.
Solomon: okay so I have a plan for the mission, first to deal with the others in the mission. Most of them should be unranked. Because of this they hold no great danger to us. For them we will let them go, as long as they don’t interfere with us. The real problems will come from ranked contestants. If they are G rank we should establish a truce.

Gareth: and if they are not willing?
Solomon: then we kill them.
Alice: KILL THEM? Why? If its only one G rank then won't they avoid us. Though were not great fighters, there are two of us.
Solomon: the problems not with an outright attack. What would happen if we were fighting against enemy's and they backstabbed us?
Gareth: I agree with leader. They are too much of a risk.
Alice: cant we just capture them, why do we have to kill them>
Solomon: we don’t have the power to do that, even with the two of us its too risky. Showing mercy to a G rank is like turning your back to a wolf.
Alice:… fine, but I don’t think I have the ability to kill someone.
Solomon: don’t worry, necro can do it for you, this is worst case anyway. On the same note if we encounter an f rank, we run.any danger in the mission An f rank should be able to solo the mission, so as long as they let us go we could avoid any danger in the mission. Any diagreements?
Gareth: I agree with this plan, I'm in leader.
Alice: though I don’t like it, it is the safest way. I'm also in.
Solomon: all right that’s one problem solved, for the other I also have a solution. When we exit the mission we will instantly return to our origin plane. From there we will purchase enhancements, 2 hours after going to our origin plane we will return to domain. Hopefully our new enhancements can protect us from the hunter. Are you two all right with this.
Alice+Gareth: yes.
Solomon: I also have another idea, being not having a guild is dangerous why don’t we make one, if we each save a hundred points we could create a guild. I know this is dangerous, especialy if we only get a little over a hundred points in the mission. But I thinks this will be the safest way in the long run.
Alice: I don’t mind the idea but couldn’t we do it after a few missions?
Gareth: I don’t think so, if we don’t make a guild were in danger every mission. If your in a guild then the mission only has you in it, if we keep having Randoms in the mission it presents a huge risk. If one of those Randoms is from capitalist mages guild, we could face an army after finishing the mission.
Alice: well if you two are for it ill do it, I just thought that for you Gareth won't it be dangerous. Me and Solomon are both G rank, if you don’t save your points you can't become G rank.
Gareth: I'm willing to give up some points for the safety of a guild.

Solomon: no Alice is right, I will give 150 points and you'll give 50.
Alice: no, that’s not a fair split, why don’t we both give 125 points?
Solomon: no, I already have two G rank rewards you need the points. Anyway, I'm probably going to be the leader, so I should at least do this much.
Alice: okay, for this mission. In the future we have to find a better way to do this though.
Solomon: agreed. Well, that’s the plan sorted. For now, let's take stock of all we have. Ill start with my own equipment, I have my weapon, the arcane orb. Let me show you guys how it works.
Lifting my hand up, orb in hand, I channelled a quarter of my qi into it. Due to the increase in my qi this attack is equal to the one I used against the water mage. As the ball glowed red with the my lizard enhanced qi, I performed the flame serpent art. As the ball was encompassed by the qi made lizards head it flew forward. Just before it hit the wall I dispelled the qi. Without any qi the orb fell to the ground.
Gareth: wow, looks like were not going to be lacking firepower. How many time can you do that?
Solomon: 4 times, or I can do one twice as strong two times. It’s a shame I can't control one using my full power.
Gareth, you'd be too strong if you could do that, even F ranks would be careful around you.
Solomon: haha, maybe I could reach that point after training more. But I don’t think I'd ever hold up to a f rank. Well, at least not until I reach F rank. Anyway that’s my only weapon. I also have one of the body armours and a third of the consumables. Why don’t you go next Alice?
Alice: okay, other than the third of the usual stuff, I've got this sword as my weapon. If I channel rift energy into it the edge gets sharper. Ill show you.
Standing up she walked over to a coffee table. Lifting the sword up then bringing it down. As the blade made contact it sunk into the table, reaching about halfway through it. Pulling it out she did the same on and undamaged part. As the blade fell a green mist covered the edge. On contact with the table the sword showed no signs of slowing, Cutting through the table without showing any resistance.
Alice: that’s the difference if I use energy. Though to keep it that strong costs 10% of my energy an hour. Other than this I have necro and his goblies. By tomorrow he should have 48 of them.
Solomon: that’s good, you have the sword to defend yourself and goblies to attack. Your probably going to make the most points this mission. Then last is you Gareth
Gareth: okay my weapon is this, the hellsing cassull. It’s a modified colt specialized in power. Even with the reduced power it still rivals a sniper. Though the accuracy and recoil are much worse. With my strength I can only fire if I'm stood still, and even then only slowly. Ill show you.
Standing up Gareth walked to a clear space in the room. Holding up the cassul with both hands he pointed it at the wall. when he shot the gun a huge spray of dust erupted from the wall followed by another and another, As he shot twice more. He could only shoot once every 2 seconds due to the recoil. After the dust cleared 3 watermelon sized holes were left in the wall.
Solomon: wow, and you said I have firepower. You could fire that hundreds of times more than I could use my attacks. We'll be relying on you a lot.
Gareth: don’t worry, I won't let you down leader.
Solomon: all right then, we all understand each other's abilities. Let's all do our best to earn a lot this mission.
Standing up I held my hand forward.
Alice: I'm with you.
Gareth: let's do it.
In agreement, they put their hands on top of mine.
Solomon: FIGHT!
Gareth+Alice: FIGHT!
Having given my speech I bid goodnight, before heading back to my room.
After eating and having a shower I settled in my room. Laying on the bed I ran through all that had happened in my mind. Starting with the ludicrous circumstance of my death, then the time I spent in the black. Followed by the test, then finishing with my time with Gareth and Alice.
Seeing how far I had come, as well as what I had done, a new feeling was born in my gut. A feeling that I had to protect what I had gained. It may have been because I never had such relations with people before, but I wanted to protect my new friends. From this want the feeling grew stronger. As it grew it mixed with the already existing hatred. When it eventually reached its peak a new emotion was born. An insatiable lust for power.
As I fostered this new part of me, the slow dark of sleep overcame me. Falling once again into the realm of dreams, I allowed this emotion of mine to grow ever bigger.
