Epic Flashback Transition

====================

Man, walking around like this is annoying. We keep running into these power starved idiots who are literally asking to die. And I get to see Rebecca using her Skills to defeat people. It seems when those little heart magic circles are over their eyes, they can’t do anything for a while.

“Rebecca, have you tried telling them what to do?”

“No? Why would I do that?”

“Because you might be able to become a Noble if you can control Ability Users.”

“Oh.”

After walking for a couple hours on only the second day, we had just made it outside the Region. If I had known trying to run at top speed for so long was a dumb idea, I wouldn’t have done that yesterday. I had used it as some exercise bull so I didn’t look too stupid in front of Rebecca.

The sun was reaching the sky when someone contacted me. Hoh? It’s Spot.

“What’s up now? Is something wrong?”

‘I guess you could say that. Apparently the leader of the military compound to the south showed up and…caused problems after asking for a truce.’

“Is everyone okay?”

‘…Sarah is still upset but’

“What. Happened.”

*gulp* ‘Jane, their boss, said that the government is after you and it is only a matter of time before you die. Sarah came in and angered Jane which she didn’t like. She told her that Rebecca’s a slut and doesn’t love her.’

“SPOT! What the fuck?! Where were you?!”

‘I had a fucking gun to my head!’

“What the hell?! Why didn’t you say that?!”

‘You did cut me off…*sigh* okay, we’re fine. Reese, Brandon, and even Lucy made her leave.’

“Heh, ain’t that the truth. You…you know her, don’t you?”

‘..Yes, sir.’

“Don’t sir me. Is this how she normally acts?”

‘Actually, only when she is trying to either impress someone or if she is desperate.’

“Why act like a bitch if she actually wanted our help?”

‘She…expects most people to be of a specific type. She has been known to be stumped with people who don’t fit the norm.’

“Heh, that’s all of us, isn’t it?. Fine. If she calls back in the next day or so to request a truce, agree, but if she apologizes, I want you to talk to her just the two of you. Find out what’s going on and see if we can help.”

‘That’s…that’s actually really nice of you.’

“Hush. I actually want to punch her face in. But the only Jane I see on the monitor was someone who already had 3 Skills and has their own tiny army. If we can have her indebted to us, we have more allies. If her bitchy attitude continues, well…I will deal with her personally.”

‘…I would want to do it, if possible.’

“Whoa, is she an old girlfriend?”

‘No, but close.’

“Damn. Okay, but even if you don’t kill her or hurt her, I expect a suitable punishment for her actions.”

‘Is everything okay, sir?’

“What did I say about the sir thing? Well…we have already been attacked several times. Maybe I’m just upset a little.”

‘Alright, be safe. I will call back later with more information.’

Sure enough, he called back later that night. It was kind of late, but we continued to move, sometimes I had some Skeletons carry us and alert us if something happens.

“What’s up?”

‘So…she apologized.’

“Oh. Anything else?”

‘Yeah. I learned that the previous General got the axe and Jane is now in control. There is a rival Clan in their Region that has murderers and powerful people in it. Her group also suffers from constant zombie attacks and bad living conditions. There is a need for medicine and daily luxuries that they don’t have access to.’

“Wow, that sounds pretty bad.”

‘Well, that’s what we had to go through until we joined you.’

“Really? Damn. What else?”

‘The people all hate the dead and want us gone.’

“Hm…then when we do send supplies, make sure the Undead don’t go into their range. Make sure you or Chance or David is present each time. For anyone else, you can issue small Quests to ‘guard’ the caravan. Send someone to scout this other Clan. We might go defeat them and Level Up the other guys. Having more BOSSes would be good.”

‘Wow. That sounds pretty good. You’re getting better. Is Navi helping you out?’

“I left her to watch over Lucy and Sarah…Where is she?”

‘I haven’t seen her. I’ll look for her and have her contact you. See you, sir.’

“Ah that sir again! Oh, he hung up.”

Back to what’s her name

==========================

Jane was busy planning the patrols and basic training when a soldier came to tell her that someone was at the gate. The person’s face was full of disgust, so Jane was confused as to who it could be.

Someone from the Living Saints? It wasn’t someone from the Undead Clan, was it?

It was Spot!

“Spot! Why are you here?”

He laughed a little and pointed at the several of people that had all sorts of items that would help the people of the compound.

“We’re here to help. Boss said to, so we did.”

“But, how are you out here if you are the temporary leader?”

“Someone else took my place back home.”

Some soldiers came over and took the resources back into the camp before rearming themselves and aiming at the group.

“We might be here for a little. It seems that we were needed.”

He started walking away before Jane could say anything.

“What do you mean?”

He turned back around and just said,

“It seems the Living Saints are on the move. You might want to ready yourself for an attack.”

Shit.

Jane quickly went back into the camp and ordered the men to situate themselves. She also armed the men who were willing to help. Most were not willing to kill people who were still alive, so many just packed their things and hid in the bunkers just like during a zombie attack.

All of the patrolling units came back in and readied up for the incoming fight. They were stationed at the barricades at the front gate and along the chain-link fence. They had many trained forces, but they weren’t really use to the system.

The Living Saints, however, had several people at high Levels and probably had magic weapons and armor. Trying to fight them with regular weapons could be problematic.

Jane checked the Radar, but couldn’t find Spot or his team anywhere. Were they not going to help? This was going to be bad if the Living Saints were as strong as she thought.

An hour later, people were detected on the Radar.

There they were. People with bandanas and many different guns and weapons were spread out. They had vehicles, but they got out and stalked closer to the compound. One single man walked up and held up a megaphone.

“Hello! We are the Living Saints! We only wish to have all the people here join us. We can even allow you to remain ruling over these simple civilians as their guardian. All we ask is you give us the woman known as Jane Fitzgerald!”

The soldiers gave a look at her but she remained where she was. If she walked up, she might get sniped as soon as she poked her head out.

But, what came next was surprising. Without even a warning, several people just tossed semi clear bottles at the barricades and gate. Soon both were covered in flames. Molotovs! What happened to their demand for her?!

“Oops, looks like time’s up. Men! Commence the attack!”

Yells and cries could be heard as one man pulled out a massive turret from nowhere and started firing many rounds into the soldiers. In only a moment, four were dead and three were wounded! Why was this happening?! Where was Spot?!

Was…was she never going to see him again?

She collapsed to her knees in surrender but a snarky voice called out to her.

“Che! What the hell happened to your go hard attitude?”

“Calm down, Reese. Geez, do you miss the Boss that much?”

“Shut it, Brandon! I don’t miss him!”

“No, but you want to show off your new Spell, don’t you. You two are surprisingly similar, eh?”

“Grr…fine. Whatever.”

“Hahaha!”

Jane was surprised and wondering where these guys appeared from. Did they mess with the Radar? Or were they just outside of the range the entire time? Were they waiting for this?!

“Oi, Builders! Get to work!”

7 colorful figures rushed out of the shadows holding all kinds of materials and began to construct a powerful barrier to protect the civilians.

“Hey, Brandon do you think Boss should have let Sammy kill those powerful guys he raised from the dead? I feel weird that Sammy got to come back before everyone else.”

“No worries. He is just guarding the base. He needed the strength to guard the regular people, after all.”

“Yeah, I know. Hey, who do you think will Level Up first? I say Renzo.”

“Naw, I saw Damian was aboot to get that turret guy.”

Surprised by the casual conversation that was happening before her, Jane looked at the battlefield and saw many monsters and Undead tearing through the astonished Living Saints members like paper.

“What…is this?”

Suddenly, she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked up to see a familiar face. Then Spot said,

“It’s war, Jane. Just the next version of it, that’s all.”

Jane sighed in relief. She then looked around before ordering her men back into battle, rejoining the fray with an excited expression. It seemed as if she was about to show off.

“Damn, first Andrew, now Spot. Where can I get a pretty girl?”

“Hahaha, she will probably be a monster or something, eh?”

“Shut up!”
