It was a dark night in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest when deep from within the forest came a howl.

A howl of wolves.

For deep within the forest there was a cavern and in the cavern lived the grey wolves. These wolves were the most feared throughout the forest: for they were the most fearless; vicious and bloodthirsty wolves that would stop at nothing to get what they wanted.

The most vicious and fearless of the wolves was Darka. Darka had dark fur, was incredibly strong and he was the leader of the hunting party. Among the hunting party was a midnight black wolf with sharp fangs that could tear an animal to pieces in seconds, a red coloured wolf with claws that had immense power and a wolf that could kill without being seen.

There was also the messenger wolf called Tarran, who was trustworthy and extremely protective.

Midnight has just had a new male wolf pup, who tonight was getting his wolf name. In these occasion’s the father would give the pup their name and in this case his father was Twilight, the leader f the pack. Outside the cavern in the light of the full moon Twilight called,

“Come forth my son, come my son, come, come, come,” and out from the cavern came a little grey nose, then a paw and then another paw, and another and another. When the pup was in full sight,

“On this great night, let your light shine upon my son. For here upon this rock you were born and here you will one day die. Let the moonlight guide you for: be wise; be safe; be strong; be ready. And remember when you are alone or fighting for survival remember that you are my son and I will always be here for you. Go now, send your howl to the moon, my son, Howler.” So Howler stepped up and howled his heart out into the moon.
