《Finley- Diary Entries》Entry Seven: More into the Races: Magic

Fairies
Fairies are nearly purely magical creatures and can, therefore, access magic much easier than the other races. This is also why Fairies are physically weaker than the other races as their bodies are practically completely optimized for the usage of magic.
A fairy can solidify magic into different shapes for combat1 or They can cast It into more traditional spell structures2.
A spell is a structure or a pattern that magic is forced into in order to achieve a certain result. The structure can either be physically enforced, such as a board with the pattern built into it or can be etched out into the air, usually with a wand.
Fairies have a superior magic perception, holding capacity and retention and can usually push out more magic into a spell patter, usually resulting in a stronger spell.
Fairies tend to use free draw spells more than the other races rather than spells physically enforced into items because they can afford the waste of excess magic and can achieve similar or better results.
Fairies use magic to fly as their wings are actually quite weak and cannot really support their full bodies' weight.
A special thing about Fairy magic is their ability to cast a ‘Wish’ which is a very strong spell that can range anywhere from changing the geography of the land to a large-scale mass heal.
Each Fairy is born with a specific number of ‘Wish’ that they can use, and the strength of the wish depends on the Fairy’s individual strength.
Goblins
The Goblins have very limited access to magic, sort of like how an illegitimate child would have very little access to the father’s resources.
They cannot extend their magic outside of themselves, so their magic is restricted to things like body strengthening spells and very low ranked spells. They would more likely use items with effects similar to the actual spells they needed rather than cast the actual spell3.

Outside of common magic, the goblins have ‘awakenings’ that allow them to use their race-specific powers such as near indestructible skin and resistance to common magic4.
A goblin goes through two awakenings in their lives. The first usually at the age of 16 by a blood-related elder, this awakening is where they gain their abilities.
The second is their ‘Awakening’ by their monarch. This is what gives them their immortality and their ability to ‘Trade’.
Unlike the Fairies who simply expend magic to make a wish the Goblins essentially make a deal with the Magic system of the world, putting something at stake in order to get something else.
The key difference between the Trade and the Wish, however, is that the goblins can do it as much as they want, as long as they can afford it.
This skill also makes Goblins natural business people and their lack of common magic has also developed a culture of magic tool engineering and other similar careers in the Goblin lands. It has also inspired a large number of gambling dens in the kingdom.
The goblins are also popular for their inventions and aesthetic sense. Much of the ‘hottest’ fashion items in the fairy and witch kingdom usually come from the winter court.
Witches
The witches are a balance between the Fairies and the goblins
If the fairies were the golden children of magic and the Goblins were the illegitimate sons, then the witches would be the second son for the first daughter in a traditional world.
Recognized as legitimate but not even nearly as valued.
The Witch's magic manifests through rituals and much more complicated spells than those of the Fairies but they can manifest magic outside of themselves, unlike the goblins.
The Witches are known for their intense research into spells and usually create many items (that are outsourced to the goblins) with the spells physically engraved or built into the device.

A Racial specialty of the race is their ability to bind things onto their skin in the form of a tattoo to be able to use them at a quicker speed and efficiency than others. The higher ranked the witch is the more they can tattoo onto themselves.
An average witch would have 2 offensive spells, 2 defensive spells, a familiar and a broom bound to themselves in the form of tattoos.
For this reason, witches usually fight in groups, with each contributing their own specialty spells rather than trying to waste time and magic by casting those they haven't bound onto themselves.
Out of the races in the other world the witches are probably the most human-like in that they are always trying to break the limitations of their race.
They are the creators of many commonplace items across all courts and due to their heavy research in spells, they have created many new spells and techniques for both goblins and fairies.
An example of which would be the bewitchment spell, as mind specific spells is a popular field of study for witches.
Outside of those bound spells, the Witches have their own version of their ‘Trade’ or ‘wish’ and that is the ‘Ritual’
It takes a lot more time and preparation than the wish or ‘trade’ but it is not limited to the witch's power but rather their knowledge and experience.
They would have to gather the materials and research the correct steps before it was formed making it pricier as well.
The witches specialize in mental attacks and have a bad history with cursing significant figures in history.
The goblins hate the Witches and vice versa due to bad blood and history between the two races but generally, they respect one another.
Meanwhile, the Fairies and witches generally get along with each other. With the Fairies seeing the witches as the malformed younger sibling they developed a soft spot for and the witches seeing the fairies as something to strive towards becoming and eventually overthrow.
The witches are also much more gender-balanced than the goblins and witches and have a decently balanced population of both witches and wizards

Living a Long Life as a Legend
Reincarnating into a game-like version of a medieval magical world was fine and all. A good blend of two enjoyable tropes. Lock wished he'd been born with a bunch of cheats sometimes, sure, but he could settle with being functionally immortal by abusing the system as well. In Helberion, a small group of scientists, struggling to make a major scientific breakthrough, is being hampered by assassination and sabotage. Is this the work of the enemy of mankind? Murderously Disturbed
This collection chronicles the horrific contents of my brain in poetic form. This is not for the faint of heart. It contains terrifying moments of murder, suicide, mayhem, rituals, hauntings, and nightmares in various poetic forms from ballads to sonnets and many more. Most of these pieces are oneshot tales, but the "Haunted Blades" ballad sequence is marked with an asterisk (*) throughout the collection to denote an interconnected series of poems.
