《Finley- The Lost Prince》Chapter 48: I did like her

Cai Aies Finley Hall April 27th, 20XX
Esmeralda's vaguely irritating voice droned in my direction but I was not in the mood to pay any attention. Instead, I let my mind drift to the events of the other day and how ‘he’ had taken over the body while Finley was unconscious. Neither of us could do so in his sleep and even when he was unconscious I had struggled in doing so.
I was also scared that once Finley found out about what happened he would get rid of the two of us.
Aies and I.
Although we were made at the same time and were just different parts of Finley’s one ego ‘he’ was somehow stronger than me. Probably because we were male and Finley was more in tune to his Goblin side, especially with the training he had been receiving nightly. At this rate, he would be able to access his actual goblin body and at that point, I would be completely obliterated.
Finley himself wasn't aware of this as the two of us pretended to get along but the truth was...I couldn't stand that irresponsible prick.
We represented different ideals and as long as Aies existed I would not be able to achieve the ideal I was created to represent and as long as I existed Aies would never be able to reach his own.
For now, I could suppress him because Finley used my powers quite often, even if it was just for stupid things such as making his backpack lighter as he walked around or to change how he looked back to that ridiculous human guise.
I have to get stronger.
Because as long as neither of us was stronger than we could exist in harmony. But I feared that with Aies’s strong personality, He would attempt to overthrow Finley as the main personality and would then proceed to get rid of me as well.

This was entirely a possible outcome because I was naturally weaker as a fairy male than he was as a goblin male. He was less susceptible to magic and I was weaker towards Physical attacks.
Even though we didn't have corporal forms if he were to gain his strength enough to challenge me to a duel I feared for the worst and if he defeated me…. Finley would be a goner.
In truth, Finley ..wasn't even supposed to exist in the first place.
To put it into percentages we were 45% Fairy, 55% goblin and 0% human.
Esmarelda slammed the lesson book shut and dismissed me, probably having realized that I had little to no intention of paying attention to the lesson today. It was nothing I didn't already know anyway.
Having been freed I ran towards the courtyard where a copy of the obstacle course had been built but with a few modifications.
For one the course was a lot smaller, only amounting to about a fourth the size of the original which was much too small for any grown Fairy to use. The other major difference was the line of puppets that lined up around it As if waiting for their turns to go through it.
I didn't want to train my body as doing that would inadvertently be helping Aies So I had rebuilt the course but instead of having myself run through the course I had put in mannequins to be controlled by magic to run the course.
The General had dropped by to visit me so I wanted her to help me sort out any bugs it may have had. I wasn't overly familiar with magical engineering and I was unwilling to ask the old man that trained Aies, even though goblins were known for their prowess in it. As I result I could only ask the general who had at least dealt with enough military-style equipment to be able to contribute a few opinions.

There was also the part that unlike Finn I did like the general.
Not to say that he disliked her he just didn't care much for her but she was cool to me. She was strong, pretty and competent. She also showed no signs of wanting to micromanage me and a bonus was how much Aies disliked her.
But it was unnecessary to consider a beast’s opinion.
The General was already there when I arrived and was looking around the obstacle with an odd expression.
If I were to be optimistic I would describe it as a mixture between shock and awe but if I wasn't I couldn't help but see a hint of confusion and even repulsion?
I disliked it, the look on her face and the thought that it could be directed at me and quickly came up with a minor retaliation. Even if she was taken aback, or disliked that I was doing this type of thing she should make it so obvious.
I began to purify the magic in the air at a quicker rate, so her awareness of her surroundings would fall a bit and quietly flew up to her, thinking I would surprise her and wipe the previous expression of her face and tapped her on the shoulder.
That was a decision I almost immediately came to regret as I found myself completely bound with an immobility spell and hanging upside down by the feet.
In hindsight...
I thought as I hung upside down and waited for the general to realize that she had captured her fiancee rather than a hostile enemy.
It was probably a dumb idea to try to sneak up on a general. especially after she just returned from suppressing a rebellion in her territory.
The general stared at me blankly but showed no signs of starting to let me go, either because she was too taken aback by my attack or she was still half lost in her thoughts from earlier.
I shot her a wide smile, not wanting to appear angry since it was mostly my fault I was in this situation. As well it wasn't particularly uncomfortable... It was worth some investigation to see if I could find a way to hang myself upside down as I slept so I could keep practicing my magic.
The more magic I used the more proficient I got at using it and the more I was able to retain to cast higher level spells.
“ Mei. would you mind letting me down now?”
She quickly diffused the spell she had used and slipped a knife I had yet to see back into her boot. The deadly weapon seamlessly melded into the thin fabric of her shoe and I was struck with the realization that it may not be the only weapon carried on her.
“ Cai-”
She sighed my name with a mixed accent of slight annoyance and amusement. Annoyed because she could have hurt me but amused at the thought that I would even attempt such a prank on her.
“ Why would you scare me like that? what if you had gotten hurt?!”

Green Raven, a Running with Devils LitRPG
One minute Ronald McGreen was thinking about how he would get out of the cleaning closet his new classmates had thrown him in. The next he is transferred to something of a waiting room for a new game world. Giving him two hard choices. Not that he wasn’t used to hard choices since his fathers death and his mothers depression, where he chose to step up and do everything in his power to get his mother back up on her two feet. This is a story of a young man around 16-17 years growing up and making choices for himself, that sometimes affects others. This story is a slow burn, the MC will become stronger but he has insecurities that he needs to overcome and so on. I've read plenty of books over the years and lately fallen hard for the LitRPG genre of Fantasy, and this is my first attempt to write a book.
