Nikolas calmly barged into my office and stiffly put down a large folder on my desk, purposefully placing it on top of the work I was already processing to signify its importance.
“ This is all the information I got in the kid that was with Mr. Hall.”
“ I don’t have time right now to read it through. Just summarize the most important parts to me out loud.”
He stared at me blankly for a full minute as if he was tempted to say something but he eventually restrained himself and grabbed the report off the desk and began to read it.
“ His full name is Jake Addams. Eighteen this year and a star student of his school in the sports department. He is the star athlete at both Track and taekwondo. He has two younger step-siblings who are respectively 6 and 8. In an old interview, he mentioned feeling sorry towards his stepmother and trying his best to make a lot of money to help her out. His father died as she was pregnant with his second step-sibling. She is currently 27.”
I let out a low whistle,
“ That's only nine years apart.”
“ He has been on the national youth team ever since he was 16 and has been in a total of thirty-four advertisements. Twenty of them were relatively minor solo deals, six ad campaigns and the other eight were collaborations with the rest of the team. He seems to dislike doing these though because in recent times he has rejected a total of thirteen of them. He gives most of the money he earns to his stepmother and step-siblings and only keeps enough to pay his dorm fees. Which include meals at the school for the year. ”

I raised an eyebrow and looked at his picture again. When I met him at the hospital he had just gone through an armed robbery and almost being choked by his best friend so he naturally didn't look his best however in the picture he was dressed in youthful teenage clothing and was riding a skateboard with a bright smile on his face and looked much more handsome.
“That's not all, Apparently His father was in the Military before he passed away and Jake was enrolled in the Military academy on a different continent until he was 8. He stayed at the academy until his father married his stepmother when he was ten and moved here to be with then”
“ Impressive lad.”
Surprisingly Nikolas actually volunteered his own opinion on him.
“ Very much so. And if you had read the portfolio I prepared you would have seen that I planned to put him up as a spokesperson for the company’s next project.”
I snapped my fingers as I remembered,
“ Yeah! wasn't there some rather large scale sports movie we’re partnering with that sporting agency for? the paperwork in that contract was hell!”
I suddenly cut myself off and looked at him warily,
“ If you planned to then why didn't you do it? I mean he is Finley’s friend. If you get Finn on your side then he could overpower any rejections the board would have. Not that I see them having any.

Demons Don't Lie
Algier, average human and recent convict, has committed the gravest sin of all: demon slaying. His fate? To participate in the Culling, a battle-royale style tournament that’s televised live to the world, where all the worst criminals go to die. As with all tournaments, a prize is on the line. If Algier survives, he can have any wish granted by the Marquises, the new rulers of Earth following the demons’ invasion. However, there’s little hope for survival in a tournament designed to have demons do the work of the executioner, especially for a human. Demons are stronger, faster, wiser, and more talented than the average human, and, despite his crime, Algier is no demon hunter. Mentally defeated before the tournament even begins, Algier is torn between becoming another demon’s points and fighting on in his dead mother’s legacy. But should he choose to fight, there is one advantage that Algier has that can tip the odds in his favour: Demons don’t lie, but humans can. How to read this story Demons Don't Lie is written from the perspective of an unreliable (lying) narrator. There are many inconsistencies within the story which are placed there intentionally. It's up to the reader to decide what is the truth and what is the lie. Promotion Full quality cover image

Raven’s Castle [The Raven Disciples Series] Book 1
It may happen so that the events around give the law to you which makes you feel suppressed although sometimes you don’t mind such pressure at all. As fate would have it (this time the role of fate played an elderly wizard who had rather sophisticated plans to implement) a street thief Chris the Tout would become the third son of a baron, would receive the name of Erast von Rut and would be sent to study Magic to a strange and hidden in the middle of nowhere Raven castle. However, the difference between accepting the law of fate and obeying it without a grumble had always existed in a human society.
