《Finley- The Lost Prince》Chapter 32: Caught up in the moment

Jake Addams April 17th, 20XX
I was led into a bright red car, shoved into the passenger seat and before I could complain she had started driving at a recklessly fast pace.
I quickly strapped on my seatbelt and held onto the seat handles before finally speaking, debating whether it would be too unmanly to scream at her to slow down or not.
Instead of screaming I settled for choking out a question,
“ Am I allowed to ask why I'm being taken to your house?”
She turned her head to make eye contact with me before she answered but before she could actually make eye contact I more screamed than yelled at her.
“ Answer while looking at the road!”
Sparrow only laughed in a somewhat psychotic manner as a response to my plea,
“ Don't be such a coward Jake. I’m still within the speed limit you know?”
Maybe, but there weren't any speed laws within the country that I knew of that permitted going at highway speeds in residential areas.
We swerved into the parking lot of a 6 story studio building in a residential area and she quickly got off, unwilling to waste even a second of time.
“ We’re here. Get off”
I should probably have been more cautious about going into an unfamiliar house with a person that I barely knew but her pacing was so quick that I got swept up in it.
Seeing as I was too stunned to move as quickly as she apparently needed me too she ran over to the passenger side and dragged me out and into the building.
She completely bypassed the elevators that were currently resting at the 3rd floor and began to sprint up the stairs towards the fifth floor.
In a whirlwind of movement, she unlocked the doors and next thing I knew I had been stood up on a platform like a figurine and could only watch as she dragged out a giant box and came at me with a tape measure. I wasn't overly resistant because I had been on a platform before, with my longest record being for 4 ½ hours but at least then I had known the purpose.

Before I could tear myself out of the moment and ask some questions there were four other girls already in the room and they all held rather threatening poses.
The one with bright pink hair stood with a pin cushion strapped to her arm and a suit hanging on another. The second had dark green hair that swung past her waistband that was full of hair supplies and dangerously sharp scissors. The third had intense blue hair and thick frames that she continuously pushed up as she wrote in her notebook and a camera strapped around her neck. The last had canary yellow hair and a box filled with makeup and accessories.
Another thing I noticed was that apart from their wildly different hairstyles and colours they were all exactly alike. From the tilt of their lips to the same dangerous twinkle in their eyes as they looked me over.
I finally snapped out of it as they approached me and began to back away but almost like in a movie I heard the door slam shut behind me and my escape route was blocked.
“ What are you doing?”
Sparrow walked back into the room with a thick folder that was lined with different fabric cuttings in her arms and the confusion I was feeling was reflected on her face.
“ Sparrow, what's going on? Why am I suddenly being measured? Didn't you just need me to get something for Finn?”
“ah”
She suddenly exclaimed and the faux sheepish expression returned. She put down the folder onto the desk and instead took a measuring tape from the pink haired quadruplet.
“ Well, I just figured that you were officially a free agent for the school showcase right? but you do still need to participate.”
I actually didn't as I was a sports student but I let her talk. Even if it was for no other reason than I enjoyed the sound of her voice.

Rather than Alice's soft or almost whisper-like high pitched tone Sparrow’s was lively. It was still on the upper end of the range but the sheer energy that came out with every word was enough to make one happy.
But she didn't just talk and instead guided me back onto the platform measuring me as she explained her reasoning to all but kidnapping me.
“ So I figured why not join together and participate together! you can be my model and you can get enough content out to your fans all around the school! as well-”
She stopped the measuring and looked at me with an incredibly competitive but charming smile,
“ if Alice is going to say I stole you from her I might as well get a super popular and good looking male model out of it.”
I coughed to interrupt her mistaken line of thought.
“ Sorry to let you down but I’m really not all that popular you know? In fact, the only reason I can be considered as one of the ‘cool kids’ is because of Alice”
Sparrow, as well as the rest of the group, simultaneously stopped movement and their shoulders danced up and down with laughter. I waited for them to calm down and explain what was so funny but they just kept laughing until they were in tears.
Finally, the Quadruplets began to explain.
The Pink haired one: “ that untalented hag?”
The Yellow haired one: “Does anyone actually believe that?”
The Blue haired one: “ All she’s good at is manipulating others into making herself look good”
The Green haired one: “ I suppose that counts as a talent in itself.”
Sparrow clapped her hands loudly and the four immediately quieted down.
“ That’s quite enough! Even if she is untalented and annoying how could you say that in front of her boyfriend?”
Never mind that she had managed to insult her twice in that one sentence, I couldn’t help but cough out a correction.
“ Ex. Ex-boyfriend”
She foolishly grinned but didn't correct what she said and began to direct the girls in their work.
As a sports department student, I had never actually visited the fashion department as the difference between our two departments were too great but even I had to admit that the cooperative and efficient ways in which they worked were impressive. Especially how cool Sparrow looked, ordering the four hyperactive girls around.
As she moved and talked her short bobbed red hair bounced around her charming face in a charismatic manner and she kept moving so much that by the time I actually went home I was way too exhausted to spare another thought towards anything else.
