FALLING DOWN
A STORY OF Larin the Builder
IN THE PROLOGUE OF BROKEN
TO THE ABYSS

“Enjoying a little chat, are we?”
Larin froze, the words breaking over her shoulders like ice. It was over; she had failed.
“This is your nymph, Jorn?”
He gazed at her, still dazed by their magic conversation. Her eyes scraped over him, fast and focused, trying to memorize every line of his beautiful face, the last face she would ever see.
“...Yes,” came his answer, his mouth curved in a soft smile. He blinked twice and his head twitched. “Master.” When he glanced up at the liquid shadow behind them, Larin closed her eyes, branding his face in her mind’s eye.
“Merry Mother, full of grace, thy name of form and time and space...” The old prayer spilled from her lips in a breathless whisper, at once meaningless and comforting, some dusty ritual act that helped her cling to the world for precious seconds longer.
“Lovely.” Pain jerked her inside-out and stripped her of her body, inhuman screams ringing in her distant ears. She careened through darkness and dense cold, as if her presence dragged through solid ice. The pain numbed suddenly, but never quite abated, lurking there in the background of her conscious being.
Motion stopped, and Larin risked a look around.

A Demon, Probably
For a demon, Bal isn't that bad. Being bad is unfortunatly a rather large part of being a demon. Stuck among the lower rungs of demonic society, Bal has had to make a living using his cunning to trick the most distrusting creatures in existence, but all that changes when a portal swallows him whole and he is summoned to the world above hell. A world ripe with the two things Bal loves most: oppurtinity and fools. Along with his two companions: Ell, a young princess hunted by her murder-happy siblings, and Cas, her sworn protector with too much bravery and too little brains, Bal sets out to see what this world can offer a resourceful young demon.

In the center of a nuclear wasteland lay the last vestiges of humanity, the City, as its numerous inhabitants called it. To leave its protective wall was certain death. Humanity was not meant to fit within the confines of a walled city. But, with a strict caste system and the threat of being sent to the lowest level of the caste system for even the smallest crime, the City has survived. Liv was born to the highest caste, Most Honored. After her father's treason and subsequent execution, her family was cast into the prison that the lowest caste, the Dishonored, lived in. Tortured and forced to work as a slave for every bite to eat, Liv desired revenge against the King that made her life a living hell and the City that held her captive. With a forced smile and a polite bow, Liv would destroy the overpopulated last bastion of humanity. Releases weekly on Tuesdays at 12:45 Eastern US Time.
