《The Gamer's core》Chapter 05: Battle mode

The bushes around Damian and his bloody prey began to rustle before several other goblins emerged. Forcing Damian to back away with his back facing the rundown hut "-one two three... seven-". After Scanning and observing each one of the goblins, he concluded that they were all the same levels as their fallen comrade, but with different weapons.
"Focus" Damian lowered his body almost in a hunched position as the goblins approached, trying to surround him, his arms relaxed with the tip of his weapons almost touching the ground. Eyes semi-closed, heart beating slowly. Senses heightened. Each one of the goblins was almost close enough to reach him.
"-not yet..need to relax more-" his breathing slow and profound. Gradually his foes outer bodies became colored. He could see every movement happening before they make it. The colors were moving right before they do "-now all I need is to find a way to counter every attack they make-" his body became so relaxed it seemed to the goblins that he was about to fall with a light push, almost as if he was out of balance.
The first to attack was a goblin holding a makeshift wooden shield with its right hand and a sword in the other. Thinking all it needs is a simple push, it rushed towards Damian in an attempt to tackle him with the shield. But when it lifted the shield, Damian's ax struck the lower edge lifting it even further upwards using the ax's curved part like a hook. Exposing its right side and piercing its neck with his sword.
Not wanting to give them time to react, Damian left his sword sticking out of his first target's neck and taking the sword that it was using to attack him. Jumping to his next prey that stood behind it, grasping a spiked makeshift club and slashed its chest, leaving an open wound extending from its left shoulder to the right waist, gushing blood. 152 EXP gained You have reached Level 2 136 EXP gained

"-Nice!!-" Damian passed between his two fresh victims as they collapsed to the ground. By the time two of his enemies got killed, the others started to retaliate against him. One of the Jade goblins held a spear facing Damian, trying to poke his chest.
-40HP
Damian jumped back away from his range but was met with a blunt force from behind to his left shoulder, dislocating it "aagh!!". Another Goblin was right behind him with a wooden club preventing him from backing out. Taken aback as it was the first time experiencing such pain, yet his eyes didn't waver.
'-don't lose your head now-" Still gazing at the goblin with the spear. It charged at him thrusting its spear towards his skull. There was no room to back away to. The only solution that came to Damian's mind forced him to jump forward after throwing his ax towards the enemy in front of him, meeting it in the face.
140 EXP gained The spear missed its mark, barely grazing Damian's left cheek, who turned around 180 degrees holding the spear and forcing it to impale the other goblin's chest. It gasped for air before falling to the ground like a rag doll lifeless. 150 EXP gained "more..." he hissed as his breaths got shallow while he looked around franticly for the others. Switching the sword that miraculously remained in his left hand even after being dislocated, to now grab it in his right hand. With his eyes locked on the remaining ugly goblins, he slowly stood up, still agonized by the pain "what are you waiting for?" he said while raising his arm as if taunting them. "Focus" not wasting any time. He goes back to his unbalanced position. The remaining three goblins went into high alert approaching slowly surrounding Damian from three points as a triangle "-I need to react faster-" Damian remained still, focusing only on the motion around him, senses sharpened, picking the slightest movement around him. their colors appeared again moving right before the goblins do. The one in front of Damian held a battle-ax with both hands "-red ax-," the second on his right held a one edged sword "green sword," and the last stood on Damian's left side with a ball and chain flail "-yellow chain-." Damian waited. He wouldn't dare make the first move, not till they do, and his wish came true. The yellow silhouette moved to strike his left foot from behind with the flail. But the real figure was halfway there. Damian jumped up, causing it to miss, stumble and fall, to only be stabbed in the back before it could stand up. 134 EXP gained You have reached Level 3 "YES!!" Damian's dislocated shoulder returned to its place. The wound on his cheek disappeared, and his whole body felt energized. "DASH!!" his body flung towards the red silhouette before it had time to react, grabbing its ax with his free hand and stabbing with his sword right in the chest, then kicking its chest pulling the sword back out. The third goblin rushed to Damian's back, holding its sword high with both hands aiming for his back. But he already saw how its green silhouette slashed him before it did. Turning around 180 degrees in a clockwise rotation, Damian's sword clashed with the goblin's sword, parrying the incoming attack, and with all the strength he could muster, Damian struck its head, planting the ax in it. 149 EXP gained The loot box appeared in front of Damian, but he didn't pay much attention to it. Only one thing was on his mind, his first assailant. The goblin reached a fair distance while crawling in the woods. Blood trails still visible, showing just how far he came. When suddenly faint footsteps came from behind, "Hello mother fucker...did you miss me?" it was non-other than Damian. He was still carrying the battle-ax and the sword, and both were drenched in blood and a creepy grin on his face. Damian knew the ugly creature didn't understand a word he said, but he enjoyed how scared to death the goblin was when it knew he is now this close to it, out for blood, and there is nothing this pitiful goblin can do to stop him. "I hope you enjoyed your little run in the woods cause it ends here, and don't worry, I'll make it quick" just as Damian finished his small speech, he had an eery feeling that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Quickly he looked around only to discover that they were not alone. He felt eyes gazing at him from every direction. He looked around to see more and more goblins appear from the bushes, and there were still more in hiding. He suddenly realized as he looked at the one crawling next to his feet with the same irritating smile it wore when it tried to kill him. "you're a real piece of work, you ugly little bastard" Damian's grips tightened. "Enjoy your last moment, asshole" he raised the bloody war ax as high as he could. Making sure all the goblins' attention was focussed on him "because of no matter what you throw at me." The crawling goblin's joy turned to fear as it knew what was about to happen, but its body was too weak to move anymore. "I will survive." the ax went down, chopping off its head and sending the other goblins into a blood lust frenzy. "WELL...COME AND GET IT FUCKERS!!!" Damian declared with a serious face.

I Don't Seem So Bright in a Well-Lit Room
The universe is a very strange place. It will take even stranger heroes to save it."Absurd. Existential. Ridiculous. Tragic. Comic. The antiheroes of "I Don't Seem So Bright in a Well-Lit Room" are a kind of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern with space packs, inadvertently colliding with their destinies against a starry background of witty wordplay. With a vision as sprawling and limitless as the loveably goofy universe in which it's set, Browning's wit, wisdom and heart are always at play, combining to form a wonderfully panoramic and very silly heroes' journey that visits every trope of its overlapping genres and draws moustaches on all of them."- Marcel St. Pierre, author of "Vengeful Hank" and "Cliché and Wind Go Hitchhiking".(Sci-fi /Dark Humour/Absurd) *Completed!
