《The Gamer's core》Chapter 01: Knights of oblivion

As Samantha handed Damian a small pink box wrapped elegantly with a thin purple cotton rope," happy birthday Damian" she said as she stood there watching him patiently while he looked baffled switching his gaze between the tiny box and his mother.
This is Damian, He just turned 18 years old. 170cm in height, and weighs around 60kg, pale skin due to the habit of staying home and playing video games every chance he got, he has straight long black hair that reaches to the end of his neck (too lazy to go cut it), black colored eyes that sometimes give people a weird vibe, and an average-looking face.
"Well don't just look at it open it!" she said excitedly as the look of confusion on Damian's face turned into a hint of wonder and joy, just before starting to unwrap his unexpected present, to finally pull the leather link inside revealing a wooden pendant, that looked like a thumb-sized egg with unusual words engraved all over it.
" I bought this from a bazaar I walked by last month. Thought you might like it" Damian couldn't help but look at the pendant with keen interest " wow this is awesome, thanks, mom."
All of a sudden a honk roars outside causing the two to jump slightly, reminding Samantha that the cab has been waiting outside for almost five minutes.
"Oh dear I have to leave" picking up her purse, she gives Damian a last tight hug almost smothering him in her bosoms and a kiss on his forehead, before departing in a hurry "and no parties while I'm gone" she yells as she gets in the cab.
"-it's not like I can do a party when you're here either-" thinking to himself as he waves at his mother right while the cab is leaving "-I also don't have that many friends, to begin with-" right after he locks the door a wide ear reaching grin finds its way on his face.
"-Finally I have a full week to enjoy myself to the fullest-" Damian thinks to himself as he walks to his room closing the door "I really ought to thank mom's friends for insisting on her to go on a vacation, otherwise she wouldn't think about it in the first place."
Samantha worked as a senior manager in a computer company which takes a lot of her time. Yet, she was always there when he needed her. The same could not be said about his father Archibald, who disappeared after a month of his birth, leaving an infant and his mother to fend for themselves.

For that he despised his father, to Damian, he was nothing more than a dirty picture on the shelf of his subconscious, not worth the time nor effort of a glance. The only reason Damian has to bear his existence was for the sake of Samantha. "He will always be your father.. never forget", she says those exact words whenever he said anything bad about him. How can she still love such a man, Damian never understood.
His gaze locks on the personal computer on his desk with what seems to resemble a black helmet with large goggles sticking out of it. On the goggles, there was an inscription on it, (VR-X2) and two black gauntlet-like gloves with a joystick strapped to each of the palms of the gloves, filled with buttons all over the joysticks, both the gloves and the helmet had long cords coming out from each one of them. Joining them together forming one cord that connected them to the PC.
"-now I can play to my heart is content-" as he walks in the room aiming for the desk chair, Damian's left-hand reaches to the start-up button pressing it. While the other grabs the chair sitting in it as he has done thousands of times before, while the PC was starting he realized the pendant was still in hand, Damian started looking at the burned engravings on it inspecting them. Till he noticed the computer's screen light up indicating it's ready for use, he pushed away his interest and wore the pendant before gearing up.
After wearing the gloves then the helmet and adjusting the goggles, Damian reaches to the side of his helmet finding a button with a V-letter written on it, and after pressing it, the letters on the goggles brightens in a dark blue neon color. Right before Damian, the same word fades into existence, after a brief moment the title disappear in the same manner, and the gauntlets he was wearing appeared instead moving with Damian's real one's mimicking in the same motion and timing, seconds later a list formed in front of him.

Damian's hands worked their way aiming at ( Knights Of Oblivion ) then pressed it, the list fades away and seconds later the background changes to a giant stone gate, with a portal inside, and beyond the portal were stars and planets in different colors and sizes. Upon reaching to the gates the portal sucks Damian in with bright light covering everything around him and fades away to find himself in the middle of a summoning stone circle with engravings on the stones, shining in a greenish-blue hue, surrounded by medieval buildings and people of different races, walking and running all around.

Knights of oblivion. One of the most played and hyped games ever to enter the MMORPG industry, and thanks to the VR console it got even more revered. What made it so special is not just the massively detailed world from the clouds in the sky to the tiniest leaf falling in the wind. Nor is it the fine character customization that allows you to manipulate the character from the tip of the hair to the smallest toenails, and not to mention the motion sensors augmented by the (VR-X2) that will allow even the slightest facial expression to be transferred to the in-game character.
They all fall short in comparison to the LLCS ( Limitless Learning Class System). A unique system that allows any character to learn any skill and raise any stats, as long as he/she is willing to invest in time and effort, he/she can learn any and every skill with no cap and not just that. The LLCS system will go as far as to enable him/her to create new skills and spells if he/she obtains an item called (core fragment) and not to unbalance or break the game, the game creators made monsters evolve and strengthen with the number of characters nearby being in high level and/or in great quantity.
For example: if a high-level player enters a low-level goblins' den, the goblins will evolve in skills and gear to match the character and make it harder. If there were several high leveled characters, the goblins would also increase in numbers, and the same goes to dungeons or raid bosses, the more and stronger the characters the stronger and harder to kill the bosses will be.
As Damian walked out of the circle geared with high tier glowing armor and shining under the sunset light he notices someone in the middle of the crowd jumping and waving towards him, he knew right away that it was none other than Marco, a friend he met online. Other than his clumsy personality, he always came through in a raid focusing on healing and ranged spells, while Damian on the other hand, takes the role of a tank and a melee damage dealer.
Struggling to get away from the crowd they finally get close together "took you long enough everyone's waiting at the silver quell pub" said Marco with his cat ears poking from the two holes in the hoodie connected to his long white mantle, and the name tag hovering over his head saying...
Marcolo Lvl 63
"Sorry my mom was about to leave on a trip with her friends" that's when Marco suddenly jumped closer to Damian, clinging to him like a monkey on a tree, with a wide grin revealing his feline fangs and his yellow cat-like eyes wide. " say D why don't you ask your mother to hook me up with one of her friends" Marco was in his thirties despite his personality, This was not the first time he asked Damian for things like that and knowing him it won't be the last "let's just go" Damian sighed as he walked with Marco still hovering around him like a vulture.
After reaching a pub that has a metal board with a quell sign sketched on it, they both enter to find that the bar was somewhat packed more than usual with people varying in races from feral humanoids to elves humans and dwarves.
Finally finding their comrades gathered around a table in the middle of the horde, three characters sitting down, the first to notice Damian and Marco was a male werewolf with blue fur, the name tag floating over his head said ..
Globmyster Lvl 64
"It's about time you two got here" he shouted, while a dwarf with a pink Mohawk stood up right after he heard -Globmyster-, " well no need to dilly dally lets go!" his name tag said ..
Munchymuncher Lvl 62
the last was a female feline with black fur and red eyes with the name tag..
Slacker123 Lvl 62
Who stood without a word heading for the pub exit following the others. After a few chats they all arrived in front of a cave entrance with torches alongside its walls, Marco stood facing his group giving his back to the gate with a smirk on his face "shall we discover the new dungeon?", but unknown to Damian, the pendant he's wearing started to emit purple glowing smoke, forming letters and symbols that began to move and float silently circling around him.

8 103Gods How I Hate Nature
While there are always choices in life, lately they’ve all tended to skew between bad, terrible, and suicidal. Tome finds himself typically choosing the latter. As if people and plants consistently trying to kill him wasn’t bad enough, he finds himself sent off to a Mage Spire along with a self-righteous other worlder (as though there were any other kind). Add to this some powerful figures in black, a sadistic instructor, an uptight law keeper, and Tome just wants to go back to his room, down a pint, and forget about everything… But, when someone starts a fight, especially someone bigger and stronger, you bide your time and strength. Before you can get revenge, you have to settle for surviving and slowly gaining power. That means accepting the most suicidal choices, doing the jobs no one else will do, always smiling, and not slitting that other worlder’s throat… (The story will incorporate comedy, but it will be a dark story. This won't be a happy, uplifting tale, but it also won't be too morose or depressing. Though if you're rooting for the other worlders, then I suppose it will be...)
