Chapter 31: Random teleportation is truly random
‘Watching the unstable portal with apprehension’ Now that I know I need to meet people, I’m struggling. ‘casting an annoyed gaze on my path to civilization’ What is stopping me? It was always in the back of my mind before, jumping through the portal without a care in the world. I am bloody immortal! Why are people so terrifying right now? ‘Sitting down comfortably in front of the portal elbow on knees’ what am I to do?
‘watching the spin of the portal’ in an annoyed tone “Fine!”. Gathering my gear; I prepare everything I could possibly need. Spare telepads, extra bags of holding, materials. Before I leave, I also take the time to make potions. Strength potions, night vision potions; I also prepare an invisibility potion, just in case. Golden apples for regeneration, I also prepare a ‘God apple’.
‘taking a deep breath, I step through the portal’ finding myself in a ‘plains biome’ I do a quick search. Looking for signs of people; nothing. Immediately teleporting home, I repeat this, over and over. I must have done it damn near 100 times. Occasionally placing telepads on biomes of note; like a mushroom biome I stumbled across. I will be searching for mooshrooms.
Doing this repeatedly has left me with a nasty headache, but my determination has yet to waiver. Finally, I find myself… inside a house? “Where am I?” Looking around I see a stone-cold fireplace, basic kitchen equipment like a sink, running water but no obvious electronics. An odd light fixture that could potentially use electricity is on the ceiling.
I begin to hear noise, footsteps. With no time to waste I drink my invisibility potion; quickly stripping off my Armor. Watching my hand go translucent was odd. As the steps grow closer, I hold my breath on instinct. I hear a mouse-like “hello”. Before a petite woman, blond hair, green eyes wearing a robe tied at the front. Well covered. With a slight shiver in her voice, she looks around repeating “hello” or “is someone here”. She is acting very nervous, hands clutching a knife. Her fingers bone white from how hard she's gripping it. I only now notice where she came from, stairs leading up into a corridor. Not wanting to wait around for my invisibility to drop, I try and leave.
Face curling in shame for intruding on someone's home. She quickly checks the house; finding no one. I see her visible relax like all her strings were cut. Looking very relieved she heads upstairs. Now I do something stupid. I take out paper and with a pen write a small note.
“Hey, sorry for scaring you. I randomly teleported and by sheer luck appeared in your house. I honestly didn’t mean to intrude and hope you can forgive me. I hid myself to not disturb you. I feel too guilty to leave just like that so here's a gift, again I am so sorry.
Yours sincerely A”
‘placing a golden apple, a diamond, and a single Imperio.’ I don’t know what's valuable here but I hope out of all 3 items she can get something from one of them.

Finding the door, I as quietly as I possibly could open the door. Having to lift the latch I exit then use my wand and telekinesis to close the latch behind me. ‘casting my eyes over the surrounding’ I am on a quiet street. Looking down the long road I see a bustling market with lots of food stalls. The buildings all look well-made, mostly square and grey with normal windows and a variety of colored doors. I notice a drain in the floor, they have a sewage system, a good sign.
Heading the opposite direction, I find it quickly leads to more rundown buildings. After walking past a variety of buildings I find a flat plain of grass 100 meters around the town encircled by a gigantic wall. Mostly stone brick and cobblestone.
Being in an unfamiliar town, and having teleported inside for god's sake I get to the edge of the wall before digging down, covering the hole over me. How would they react if I just suddenly appeared? Not good for sure. So, I tunnel down refilling the dirt on the way. After descending around 30, I prepare a small room. Simple stone brick, Glowstone lighting implement. Quickly placing a Telepad I teleport home.
‘collapsing on the floor’ “Now that was stressful” poor woman I feel awful, must have scared the life out of her stomping around. Taking time to calm down I stand up. Using the connection, I create a small thermoelectric generator system under the room. I place a shell-constructor and shell-storage. for security. Let's call it a safe room. I suffer the pain and create a clone inside. Just in case I get myself in trouble while there I can quickly gather anything I lose and run.
Meanwhile Cassie's point of view
“Bang” what's that? “stomp, stomp” wait, someone’s in my house, crap, crap, what do I do? I should check, but what if it's someone dangerous, err I guess I have to check. But I don’t want to? I don’t want to die. Why would someone even bother everyone knows I’m poor as dirt. ‘climbing out of bed slowly’ Whispering to herself “You can do this”.
‘Stepping down the stairs “He Hello?” a slight pause “Is anyone there?” it’s not worth it it's best if I turn back... I can't stop now, grabbing my ax I try to act confident as I walk downstairs. Wait I don’t see no one – weird. Yeah, it's just the wind, must have been. I am so grateful; I don’t know what I would do If someone was robbing me.
‘climbing the stairs and sitting on my bed’ “click” that was my latch, someone is downstairs. Running downstairs with my ax up high ready to hit the evil person inside. Looking around quickly… no one? Wait a note! What's all that stuff? ‘carefully reading the note’ “what the actual nether”. ‘looking over the items even more confused’ wait what the hell these are bloody valuable. Diamond is pretty simple but a golden apple? Those are only given out to ’generous’ patrons of the church. And what's that blue powder? I will have to check. “Teleporting my ass”, no mage worth half his salt would teleport randomly, they are rare since the ones who do teleport randomly die quickly.

Why would someone sneak in, leave me items then leave? A secret stalker? But how could they get a golden apple and give it away so easily?
I check the house top to bottom; I even checked my creepy attic with… spiders ‘shivers.’ Nothing, absolutely positively no one is here. I should head to the market to have this blue powder checked out. Taking the other items to my safe under my bed I wrap the blue powder carefully inside a spare cloth. I don’t know if it's dangerous. Walking up to the market I see a book salesman, think his name is Tod? He for sure knows what this is.
“Heya Tod, how are you? I say cheerily
“I decent, how's the house darling,” he said in a slow yet chipper tone.
“Great, great moving in was rough but I finally got my own place”
“Good, now what can I do for you?” he said inquisitively
“Well, you see I won't go into details but someone gifted me this, any idea what on the nether it is” My voice betraying my hopefulness
“Let me see” ‘taking the cloth from my hand’ “hmmm, what on the overworld is that, I ant never seen that before in my life,” he said confusion clear on his face.
‘taking it back’ “sigh, thank you anyway”
“Wait, wait, a curiosity like that maybe try the town healer, they might have an idea,” he says hurriedly
“Right! Great idea, thanks Tod”
“Any day darling,” he says ‘waving goodbye’
‘Promptly walking to the hospital.’ The pride of the town, state of the art healing technology, and even a full-blown healing mage. He's a lovely man who bleeds for the world.
‘Coming up to the large white building’ Little ostentatious for my taste. Heading inside the clerk hails me.
“Hello, Madam what do you need?” in a very robotic tone
“I need to see the main healer, I have an item of curiosity he may wish to look at,” I say smoothly
The smile drupes slightly from the clerk’s face “I’m sorry the healer is a very busy person and can’t see every commoner”
Creating the best puppy dog eyes, I can “Please, it's very important”
The clerk's face softens slightly “Fine, stop that il see if I can get you a few minutes. You owe me one”
“Thank you,” I say in the most genuine tone I can create. Not the nicest clerk but the good old puppy eyes never fail me.
10 minutes pass as I wait for the healer. I overhear talking from the corridor “I am sorry sir she said it was very important” a more masculine voice “Fine, I was just doing the sheets anyway”
A muscular kind-faced gentleman walks up, the healer. “Hello, you needed me for something?”
“ye yes, sorry err I got a really odd item your my only hope, do you know what it is,” I say nervously ‘internally praying’ ‘hands over the cloth.’
‘He opens it gingerly’ A frown crosses the eyebrows of his amazing face. “Where did you get this?” he says in a loud tone
Startled by the sudden shift in tone “S s sir it was a g gift” I struggle to get out
With a face of confusion, he said “This… I think it's Imperio powder” Seeing the confusion on my face he continues “I can't be sure but from what I know it’s difficult to produce, only the farming specialists of the crown know how to effectively make it.” with a short pause “Some small groups from the Earth empire also produce items made from this”. Face straitening “Now who gave you this!”
Stumbling I say quickly “I found it next to a note, it was an apology” I instantly regretted blurting it out. He's normally lovely but now he looks confused and a little stressed.
Face softening “Sorry keep it safe, it’s a rare item. I must consult with the mayor; we will talk further later”
‘being shooed out the building’ I am left completely confused, what just happened?
After fitting out the small base with small homely items like a bed and stove. I ponder what I should do next. I should at least get to the outside of the town. ‘Tunnelling a couple hundred blocks’ “Should be far enough”. I create a staircase up. Wait before I break out the earth, I need to camouflage the entrance; camo paste it is. It just takes ‘dye’, which I make using botania flowers. Making a decent portion I make a camo trapdoor, which copies the nearby blocks making it almost invisible. With an entrance and exit installed, I feel a bit safer. Exiting I find myself in a sparse forest. Fallen logs nearby, saplings placed; a wood farm.
I put my Armor on, being careful I fly to the top of a tree and hide within the dense leaves. I start looking at the town. A large bustling town surrounded by a circular wall. A few large important-looking buildings in the middle, a market just below. Gates on the north and south, leading to roads. An odd combination of carriages, people, and a small minority of motor vehicles. The vehicles are used by well-dressed individuals so I assume they are expensive.
I watch for a while, seeing a wide variety of people. Some people with comically big backpacks others with odd robes with insignia on them. The walls are guarded by a variety of people. Mostly a mix of archers in leather and sword users in iron. I spotted a small group of 3 with muskets. This is really weird.
