《Far Behind》Invasion 80 - Flow

Although the town center was crowded with Shriekers -- and humans as well -- and was filled with chaos, Quin could still catch the sight of something very strange. There, in the middle of this crowd, a couple of creatures were standing that he had never seen before. He could not perfectly observe them, but what he did see was almost completely white creatures with a long and wide purple line running vertically through their middle. Their two, three-jointed legs were in a shape of an S turned onto its side and ended in a sharp point. They also had a muscular tail that was about one and a half to two meters long.
They were fighting alongside the Shriekers and had a very similar face to them, so he realized after his initial surprise that they would probably be the next stage for them.
Damn, people are surrounded from each direction and now even stronger Shriekers have arrived! He started to get a little worried. I need to increase my tempo! Being this strong and having regenerative powers are cool, but right now I’d die for an area of effect skill!
He was thinking how to solve this problem while simultaneously fighting them without break. The solution came only a bit later when he glanced at an emerald green pillar supporting the roof of a building.
That should be emerald clay, shouldn’t it? It’s definitely extremely heavy, but I should be strong enough for it. If I rip it out, I could significantly increase my range and kill a lot of them with a single swing!
He jumped to it quickly and -- hugging it tightly with his arms -- started to lift it up. Of course his enemies took it as a great opportunity to attack him and continuously bombarded him.
Those damned creatures! They started shooting at a single point to increase their chance! He snorted. Well, you just wait a second or two and we’ll see who will be the one that laughs at the end!
Using all of his strength, he swiftly managed to rip out the pillar. Damn it’s freaking heavy! He had never held something this heavy before, and knew that it was not too far from his limit.
Turning around, and after briefly checking that there were only Shriekers in front of him, he swung the pillar out. Numerous Shriekers turned into a pile of purple blood and mangled flesh in the path of the emerald pillar. Crap! Crap! Crap! He could not enjoy this moment as he was using all of his might to stop his makeshift weapon from crashing into a building. Veins bulged out throughout his body and his face was completely red, but in the end he managed to succeed. Phew, alright, here comes the second round!

To be honest, stopping the pillar was not difficult just due to its massive weight being close to his limit, but for the simple fact that he had never really tried using all of his strength.
Although he did try to punch a few times with every strength he could muster, it was not the same, as he had no resistance against him. The time he used most of his strength was probably when he managed to burn that piece of violet diamond, yet that was only a single time.
Quin had boundless strength hidden in him, but he needed practice to use it efficiently.
He started clearing the way of Shriekers rather quickly once again, and each swing of the pillar left only blood and various bloody parts behind.
It took some time, but they eventually managed to reunite with the people at the town center. They were rather shocked at Quin’s unorthodox, yet very effective method, but they could not waste their time with making various exclamations when they were in a deadly battle like this. It would just take a moment when they did not pay attention and they could be dead before they knew it.
Quin quickly looked around, observing the area to know where he was needed the most. He saw Pei, the leader of the local army fiercely fighting off one of the new type of Shriekers. The man looked to be somewhat stronger than the creature, but they were vastly outnumbered and so it was not a one on one fight. Pei had to look out for numerous adult Shriekers as well.
There were another three of them that were fighting groups of stronger humans, however, they could not compare to Pei, and were visibly at a disadvantage. None of them had reached the third level of Qi Culmination and they also did not have strong or unique elements like Pei had. If this was not enough, these monsters had a very high resistance to the fire element which was rather common among people.
The town center was a spacious square with four roads going out from the middle of each side, but now every one of these streets were swarmed by Shriekers. Quin looked to the middle of the square and saw that the kids, elderly and other who lacked any fighting abilities were standing there in fear.
“Escort the ones who can’t fight to the middle, and then those of you who can, join the others who are fighting, but don’t forget to leave a few guards to look over the people in the middle,” he instructed. “Also, do watch out for attacks from above and don’t forget that they are really tricky creatures!”

With that, he leapt at the other side of the square where three soldiers were barely able to withhold the attacks of one of the new type of Shrieker. This pillar’s in a fairly bad state, and it may only able to last for a few other swings. Besides, I need to fight these.... Hm, Tailed Shriekers and not the crowd anymore. Well, I guess I’ll still leave them a small gift!
He swung out with the emerald-clay pillar one last time, but let go of it in the middle of his swing. It flew for some time and consequently killed a few groups of them.
Then, he punched at a Tailed Shrieker, creating an enormous booming sound. It could not react in time, but it was clearly a lot more powerful compared to the adult Shriekers and only had a dent on its body.
“I’ll take it on, join the others who are in the most need!” Quin said to three soldier.
They looked at him, and then in the next moment vanished to help their other comrades.
“Now let’s see how you fucker fare against someone your own size!” he said with a smirk and leapt at the creature again.
His target this time was its head, hoping that he would only need a few punches to kill it. However, as his fist got closer to its head, its entirety opened up like a flower -- similar to the adult Shriekers -- and three tongues lashed out at him.
They were of a purple color and looked even sharper than the ones the adult Shriekers had. What made Quin even more shocked was that they did not simply shoot out, but were spinning around each other during their way. When his fist met them, all three of them were merged into a single tongue.
So they’ve got some new tricks, let’s see how good they are!
Blood sprayed everywhere and the Tailed Shrieker was forced a couple of meters back, its tongues limply hanging for a few moments and bleeding heavily from its mouth. Although it was Quin who ended up on top in the exchange, his entire right fist was also bleeding. He shook it and as the crimson blood flew down, there was barely any trace of an injury.
Fortunately, despite the Tailed Shrieker’s tongues being able to penetrate his fist, it only caused a minor flesh wound which did not reach his bones. Thus, it quickly regenerated in a few moments.
At the other side, the Tailed Shrieker gathered itself back together as well.
Quin leapt at it just like last time and the Tailed Shrieker answered similarly. He realized that its tongues was quite dangerous so he decided that they would be his top priority. As they were about to reach his fist, he opened it up and after moving it a bit sideways, grabbed onto them. It required all of his concentration and speed, and doing it was a lot more difficult compared to how easily he could do it against adult Shriekers. Gotcha!
Next, as he was still in mid-air he made a fast pull on its tongues. Argh! Damn you! Just as he started to pull on them, they became extremely slippery and also grew some kind of spikes. Although they were quite small, somehow they managed to penetrate his skin.
So you’re trying with some kind of poison, huh? Tough luck fucker!
As the spikes scraped his hand, he could feel how it became a bit sluggish, but that only lasted for a moment as his regeneration kicked in and destroyed the toxin.
It looks like I don’t really have a choice and have to take my time to kill it, so I guess I should focus on hitting a vital spot... But I really don’t have any idea how their bodies are built up! Hm, I should make sure to capture at least one from each type alive, then show them to someone who’s knowledgeable about stuff like these! Anyway, since I don’t have time to do that right now, I guess I should just go with its chest, it’s easy to hit and there should be at least some important organs there!
Quin leapt at the creature a third time, but now he was more prepared.
