《QQQQ》Chapter 34 - SDFK

I rolled up the loose hoodie sleeve on my left arm. Tattooed on it were the letters “PELE”— The same as I saw inscribed on the silver ring that I severed, among other places.
I brought the tattoo close to my eyes for just a moment, just a millisecond — but now PELE was taking up my entire vision. The letters were strobing black and white like I’ve experienced so many times before. Choronzon’s unholy power of psychic confusion was being burned directly into my eyes, just from witnessing a single word. The closest I could describe the sensation is “pins and needles”, when your leg falls asleep. I’m pretty sure it actually is a similar thing, but magnified to universal levels. It was impossibly painful, like taking turns between having my body ripped apart and sewn back together a thousand times a second. If I was a fraction less tough than I am, I would have totally lost it and clawed my own face off in agony like I was from eldritch mythos. But I wasn’t doing this for fun; I had an emergency, and this was how to deal with it.
I grasped around nothingness with my right hand. I wasn’t feeling air. I wasn’t even feeling a vacuum, like space. It was literal, actual nothing. It felt like my hand was solar systems away, entirely disconnected from me. I flicked my fingers back and forth, not knowing how to orient them to get what I wanted. I’m pretty good with my hands in three dimensions, but zero dimensions proves to be a bit more confusing. I’m not sure how many minutes or months or years later it was, but my fingertip grazed a sharp surface. With as much force as I could muster (before I lost it into nothingness), I wrapped my fingers around it and pulled it out.

Out of what? Beats me. But now I was back in reality.
My vision was still residually strobing, but not enough to stop me. I glanced around to make sure I was still intact. My right arm, hoodie sleeve and all, was dripping with a silvery, sparkling liquid—like had just reached my whole arm up into the embryonic fluid of physics itself. And before you start to think that’s kind of cool, I need to let you know it smells almost exactly like rotting eggs. But that wasn’t important now.
The important thing is what is in my right hand. Both heavy and light, sharp and dull, black and white. Yeah, that’s right. It’s motherfucking sword time.
As soon as my nervous system could cooperate with me, I threw a flying knee attack right onto the Bunny, sideswiping her off of Biologist and onto the floor. Within seconds, the tip of the Zebrasword plunged into Murderbunny’s chest, spraying a small stream of blood into the air. Instant death, no other way to describe it.
I wanted to say something cool, like “get on my fucking level!” or “that’s what you get for hurting my friend!” or something, but decided I should probably check on Biologist. There’s no telling what kind of wound she might have—
Oh, she’s fine.
She’s just standing up, looking at me as casually as ever.
“...I thought you would at least have a broken wrist or something.”
She shook her head.
“I’m not a human. Can’t really hurt me like that.”
For the next few moments we looked at each other a bit awkwardly. Then at the dead Murderbunny on the ground a bit awkwardly. And then at each other a bit blank. And then down at Murderbunny a bit confused. And then back at each other a bit concerned. And then back down at Murderbunny a bit panicked. And then back at each other a bit sweaty. And then back down at Murderbunny a bit frenzied. And then back at each other in a full-blown meltdown.

I fucked up.
I FUCKED UP.
The Murderbunny chasing us was wearing a blood-stained wedding gown. No mistake about it.
The Bunny on the ground was not. Not at all.
What was she wearing?
Ripped up jeans and an old camo jacket.
Just like always.

A disappointed man dreams of leaving the confines of Earth and living adventures in fantastic realms...Suddenly, his wish is granted... Albeit in a far different way from what he could have expected. An isekai genre story with a few elements from LitRPG. The overall tone will be jumping back and forth from light to dark. Expect a lot of references to anime, manga, games, etc.It is written in first-person view and will contain a side-story using a "real-life" character. Initially, the MC will be writing the story as a true journal, so the prologue and first chapters may appear a mess of things that already happened, journal entries, and afterthoughts. A few chapters in, it will change into a normal, first-person manner retelling of what happened (storywise the character "Records" what happened to him). This is a side project of mine, so I will be uploading a few chapters per month. Chapters may have a severe difference in length (albeit I will try to maintain them around 3k), but expect the overall monthly word count to be not less than 15k words.Author recommendation, if you intend to follow the story, read the new updates once a month (counting from the day the first chapter is uploaded). Content Warning: I do intend to include a few disturbing moments to emphasize the darkness of the human (and other beings) nature, so please consider that even though some chapters (especially the starting ones) are kinda like a comedy routine.
8 199Patchwork System
Notification (cannot be ignored): For being the first being to kill another of its own species after Sublimation, Lyam Aldren is awarded the Title of Cain’s Successor. Let all fear the Kinslayer!!! Lyam Aldren, killer for hire, was just going about his business when he suddenly received a notification from something called the System. Apparently, the entirety of Earth, its denizens and its matter were transported into the world of the System, planted in 'patches' all throughout the infinite world. The world of the Patchwork System is one of challenges, where life is cheap, power is king, and Classes and levels are a thing. In a brutal world, there is perhaps room for a killer with bloodstained hands to find his own way, free of his past. However, his Title and his inherent nature plague him, his fragmented personality laid bare to those with the eyes to see, and if he doesn't become powerful enough to defeat or escape those who would use or destroy him, he will quickly be devoured by the merciless world created by the System. Compared to my previous work, this is a more 'classic' litrpg setup, with clear (if somewhat complex) progression through levels and skill gains, with a 'system apocalypse' setup. Unlike most system apocalypse story protagonists, Lyam is neither a leader nor is he particularly interested in saving his fellow Earthlings. This is a story of a man who is both endangered and set free by the destruction of his old world, as he finds both power, new discoveries, and adventure in a place where his past matters not at all and power is the only language most speak. Later in the story, there will be harem elements, but the first volume is dedicated to Lyam's first months in the System. For those who are more interested in the Heirs of the Hooded King, I am putting it on hiatus as I rework the setting and future story developments a bit.
8 171Crimson Gloom
Crimson Gloom. The time when the moon turns crimson, illuminating the landscape with its crimson glow. The time when the ‘doors’ to the Crimson Abyss open. One shall gaze into the abyss and gain its secrets and powers. Concurrently, the abyss also gazes into oneself, gaining one’s sanity and humanity. Dimensional rifts appeared spontaneously on Earth, bringing otherworldly demons along with the Crimson Gloom. Bloody battles were fought, noble sacrifices were made. Humans eventually sealed the rifts and successfully defended their homeworld. Alas, the seals were not perfect. The Crimson Abyss continued to exist, slowly influencing Earth and its inhabitants. Half a century of relatively uneventful years passed… humanity slowly descended into corruption, and the majority of them knew nothing of the effects of the Crimson Abyss. Is there only the dreadful gloom left to the world? Can one find brightness in the increasingly gloomy world? The youth who had gazed into the Crimson Abyss had no answer, nor did he care. He only wanted the Crimson Gloom to end, to forever seal the Crimson Abyss. A mistake and a twist of fate led the youth into a seemingly totally different direction. Will he forget his lifelong goal? Will he instead step back onto his initial path that he fervently pursued? Disclaimer: I do not own the image on the cover. Image edited on canva.com. This piece of work, after all, is only a first draft and by no means an end product by an amateur (beginner) writer. Mistakes are bound to happen. With that said, I will strive to improve as I write. Feel free to point out errors and inconsistencies as you read. I thank you for your time. Finally, I pledge to not rewrite this novel until the first draft is completed.
