Saturday. Week 2. Month 1. Year 1. Season: Autumn.
Tear smashed a fist against Clyde’s table, nearly cracking it. The young man sighed in relief that he picked up his mug in time. It was an early, cold morning and despite his protests, Yuki refused to allow him to sleep in. She even pulled him by one leg and dangled him upside down.
He often reminded her that she was an equal, not a servant. Focus on recovery. Tear and Natalia barged, full of cold fury—ready to bash anything that even hinted at Alice getting a life mate. They even dragged Harumi out of bed. The poor girl looked defeated, as if her cup of coffee was a lifeline. The blush, that occurred when Yuki wiped a tiny stain of toothpaste from the corner of her lip, faded.
“Are you sure he captured your agent?” Alice asked.
“Of course,” Tear snapped. “We were so close to finding out what’s hidden in the depths of his most guarded room. And if my agent burned down as much as possible that would’ve been nice. I think she made the mistake of going through Nezerath’s dreams and not using the servant route I established for her.” She shook her head. “Cousin, I try to maintain a sufficient network to help and spy but every now and then it seems one of my knuckleheaded demonesses get too cocky.”
“That’s a dangerous move,” Alice said. “I’m just glad you weren’t the one captured.”
“Please, as if Nezerath’s poor excuse for magic could touch me,” Tear said then pinched Alice’s cheeks. “Somebody has forgotten that her favorite big cousin taught her everything she needed to know about magic.”
“Ow, okay, so-wy,” Alice protested. Tear released her cheeks, satisfied.
Clyde and Harumi blinked. Natalia closed Clyde’s fridge.
“Highness how could you,” she falsely wept. “I hid that last cupcake so well and behind a wall of illusion so strong, only a god would’ve been able to detect it.”
Alice smiled innocently.
“Whatever could you be talking about? You shouldn’t point an accusatory finger without any evidence.”
Clyde gave her a Toru-approved blank stare. After she bathed the prior night, she spent maybe fifty minutes in the kitchen. The young man’s exhaustion didn’t give him the motivation to even so much as budge from the couch. She even fell asleep on top of him with a tiny speck of frosting on her cheek.
A knock on the door pulled everyone’s attention. Clyde started to rise to answer, but Yuki was already there.
“Nya! What the hell, Clyde?” Neko moved past the ex-maid. “I’m gone for a few days and you fill your apartment with women? You naughty boy, Nya.”
“Who invited the cat?” Alice said, bored annoyance in her voice.
Neko hugged Clyde then licked his face before Alice could barge in between them.
“You can’t get mad, dear nya-lady Alice, I’m only doing my job,” Neko said. “Besides, I wouldn’t dare miss an Ashfall thrashing even if all of the world’s gold was offered to me. Nezerath Ashfall has two Omen’s spheres. One hidden in his estates, while the other, he’s bringing with him like some kind of trade item or offering.”
The room fell into silence. Tear strolled over to the catgirl.
“Are you sure?” She shook Neko.
“Nya—yes,” Neko replied in a frantic, playful manner. She rubbed her shoulders when the succubus let go. “Nya. Some of you fail to realize a delicate flower when you see one.”

Tear paced and forth. Her wings suddenly spawned into existence on her back, folded.
“I can’t believe…” she looked at Alice. Everyone did. The cold rage on her face spoke volumes. Her father trading her like a barging chip. Clyde felt her grasp—she squeezed his hand.
“Tear, do you know of any way to distract the demon lord while we deal with Nezerath?”
“Yes, but there’s one more thing you should know,” she replied.
“Go on,” Clyde said.
“Nezerath is visiting the city to meet with my foolish uncle, but the actual ceremony will be held at the Ashfall estates.”
Clyde grinned. Tear gave him a skeptical look.
“And here I thought we’d have to deal with your uncle’s forces while Nezerath ran away or some shit like that,” Clyde said, the cliché bubbling in his thoughts. “Alice, let her know of what we planned.”
Alice nodded then explained Clyde’s idea to the succubus. Tear’s eyes widened then sparkled with excitement. Even Neko beamed at the young man. Harumi groaned.
“The hard part is finding the numbers to fight,” the pink-haired girl said.
“Leave that to me, Melons,” Tear said. “A raid, you say.”
“Let’s get the Fireside nuisances to help out,” Clyde said. “Sahara’s super buff will make this so much easier.”
“Super buff?” Natalia said.
“Some thirteen witches’ ability,” Clyde said. “Hands out power increases.”
“I can do way better than that, pervy-monster,” Natalia said, holding her head up high. “Or do I have to remind you of that pitiful attempt to fight me.”
“We could still use the numbers,” Clyde said, glaring at the loli.
“Nya, I’m supposed to guide him to the Omen’s sphere,” Neko said.
“We’ll get the Ashfall sphere first then worry about Alice’s father,” Clyde said. He stood up and stretched. “We’ve got phone calls and last-minute prep—let’s get going. I’ll leave it to Tear to get us to where we need to be.”
“Too easy,” Tear said. “I’ll also start a rumor, one that states that Alice is heading to the Ashfall family estates. Maybe this will start a riot among her remaining supporters. Melody’s also at play too.”
“She is?” Clyde said, surprised.
“Ashfall’s the reason why she’s here,” Tear said.
Clyde sighed.
“And their hate list continues to grow. Alright, get moving people. I want to be moving and kicking asses within an hour.”
He was ready to end this ordeal with Nezerath and claim his next Omen’s sphere. He had other things to do: find a new place to live, beat the ever-living shit out of Alice’s father, visit the Labido Grasslands and other places in this world. He wouldn’t be rooted in one city for long. To be fair, he was only in the dimension for about two weeks, but the same went for the Viper.
Abruptly, a phone call snapped him out of his reverie. Kitome calling him was a surprise.

The Ascendant: Endless Reincarnation
My name is Richard Brooks. I died while saving a kid. Kicking the bucket at 28 was really depressing, you know? There’s so much I still wanted to do. But instead of passing on, I was thrust into an endless series of reincarnations. Whenever I die, I earn Karma points based on my achievements and growth. These points can be exchanged for weapons, spells, or other bonuses to make my next lives more interesting. “What kills me only makes me stronger!” Or something like that. Honestly, it feels like I’m stuck in an RPG. The difficulty setting can be pretty ridiculous too. Sometimes all I can do is grit my teeth in frustration as I die an ignoble death. But I won’t complain. Even when it’s dangerous and painful, I love life. This is all an opportunity; I’ll do my best, no matter what kind of sadistic fate the System throws at me. I will swing the warhammer of justice! Craft and enhance the most amazing artifacts! Overwhelm opponents with a barrage of auto-casting spells! Lead powerful vassals in Domain wars! All for the sake of creating an eternal sanctuary. With my unique power of Runecrafting, maybe I’ll even become strong enough one day to overturn fate… or at least find out what the hell is really going on. It might take a few hundred or a thousand lifetimes, but what’s the rush? I have all the time in the world now. (Note: R15+ This is the work of a very inexperienced author with a full time job. Please expect an erratic release schedule.)

Follow his ragtag group of outlanders as they waddle through the tense situation brought on by the shortage of supplies and overabundance of enemies in the war-torn kingdonf of Ecragurne. After a considerable amount of nagging by a few precious friends, I chose to share this (once complete and utter mess) book project with you as a participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge. As I am not a native English speaker or professional writer, you can expect a few grammar issues along the way despite my best efforts to clean up my writing. Hence, I wellcome any comments with the intent of helping me getting better (within reasons of course).

8 205A Will to Recognize
What do you think it takes to live? Is it strength? Power? Magic? Unparalleled intelligence? Or are they all mere accessories to the fact that life is irrelevant? Do you have what it takes to bear the burden of life? Does life even matter? I don't know, and to be frank, I am somehow alive; I was even able to function in society at one point. It frightens me to think no one else knows our purpose: not our parents, friends, or mentors. And I can't bring myself to surrender to any religion. But I do have a direction. A goal, one might say. My wish is to one day shout on top of the highest mountains, "Life doesn't frighten me!" But that won't happen. Because I died a long time ago. ... You're still here? That? Oh it was all in the script. You didn't think I'd actually say that cringey stuff, did you? ~Daniel
