《Romantically Apocalyptic》112. The Holy Grail

Either accidentally or intentionally, Biomatrix dragged me across thousands of years, hundreds of lives, showing me many places and people unearthed from the depths of my genetic memory.

I was a caveman, a medieval doctor, a knight, a British explorer, a World War soldier

... so many memories, so many lives of so many people all leading up to me. It made me feel better about myself in a way, knowing that I was deeply connected with my forefathers. It was nice knowing that somewhere in time I had a connection... a family, acceptance and love. It was the thing I was missing the most, back in my empty apartment in Eureka. I suddenly realised that I couldn't recall if I ever had parents, siblings or even a girlfriend. It gnawed at me for a bit, but I chose to ignore it. There was so much the Biomatrix had shown me. So much life and death. So much love, hate, suffering and joy.

The weirdest thing in all of these memories was the mug. It was there too, I saw glimpses of it here and there. It was an object foreign to all epochs, an anomaly present across time. I felt that it was watching me.

The last thing the Biomatrix had shown me, made no sense. It was not the past. The life of Amber of Snippy had been a strange vision. It couldn't have been the past, with those Mods and Admins there.

The words that the Mod spoke "R/Login : Admin Control :" were something that reeked of the Good Directorate. And Doctor Gromov was there... an ancient legend of some sort.

What the hell was that? A parallel timeline? A simulation?

...The future?!

The flying school bus decimated the Chalice knights and when they perished I found myself in a strange room filled with many screens of my many lifetimes. The Biomatrix was there. It... he told me to relax. He told me that Captain was some sort of a thing that should not exist, that the last thing I saw had indeed been the future and that we were still trapped in a stasis field of the Arbitrator in the present.

I stared at the skeleton made of pulsating flesh that wore a suit of a lawyer. He bit into a pomegranate.

"Is there no escape?" I asked him.

"Use the mug, Charles. The mug will set you free." Was the answer of the fleshy lawyer.

The mug? The mug was there too, watching me still.

"Um... Hi... uuuum... mug," I looked at it. "I know we haven't been on best terms... what with me threatening to kill you for, um, planning to kill the Captain. But it would be nice if you could help me out. I'd rather not get lobotomized by aliens and stuff..."

The mug silently sat on the glass table, not doing anything interesting. It didn't say anything back. I felt extremely stupid. I glanced back at the Biomatrix skeleton-lawyer.

"Give her time." he grinned.
