B1C5: Kainen Moonshine
There aren’t a lot of thing that Jin considered worthy in his life. In his whole life, Jin have always feel that something is missing. Not material senses of missing but rather soul-rench like missing. A missing inside himself that sometimes cause he to stay awake for days and night.
Still, since he still have his parents and one cute little sister, that feeling of missing something-or someone- was always being held back.
Jin was happy and somewhat content with what he has right now. Even when he feel that a half of himself was elsewhere - Happy as he can be with a part of himself missing.
However, this change when Jin came back from hunting with his Luke and Lurin-they were out hunting for foods for Jenna’s birthday- only to come back to see a perfect pictures of what a village look like when it is being lite up on fires. The whole village-the houses, farms field, playground that they made for playing, everything in between, even the rocks-were burned to ground. All he can see was the shadow of a dragon flying toward the North with a roars that pieces his very soul and the aftermath of that beast’s fire breathe on his little village.
In a blink of an eye, everything that he had ever known of vanished into smoke.
His parents were dead just like that. The old man next door was dead. The auntie that always give him redcorn snacks was dead. The little girl from the farm across from their own were also dead. The only thing that was keeping Jin from feeling that he isn’t human and doesn’t have feeling-the feeling to feel desperate, hopeless and sad that everyone he knew died- was that his only relative was the one of the ones that didn’t die; simply because she was out playing in the Southern Flower Field with Rebecca and Jenna. The girls were picking up flowers and seeding-nuts for Jenna’s birthday. Which was on the Second Sun October 15 of years Solar 6001.
In their village, there was more boys than girls. The only girls are his sister, Rebecca, Rosamia, Gisana, Hilsa, Minna, Arise, Deana, Seseria, Ariana, Jenna, and Maria. For the boys, there are himself, Luke and his little brother, Joel, Mate, Avin and 17 other kids that were a bit older then them. There are about 178 total adults, and about two third of them were men. This village doesn’t have that much woman, even the elders were mostly men. And all of them were dead too. The adults that can be counted on when shit hit the fan were the ones all died. Three other adults that Jin doesn’t know of were alive but they all ran away even before confirming the dead of everyone else.
There was only his sister-Samantha, Rebecca, Hilsa, Minna, Arise, Deana, Jenna and Luke, Lurin and himself left. When they regroup again, Jenna, Arise, and Deana where in a really bad shape. They were injured very badly and Luke and I have to do whatever we can to stopped the bleeding. The cause of loosing to much blood nearly killed them. No, they didn't get injured because of the fire. They were injured by the fleeing adults who pushed them into sharp objects on the ground because the girls wanted the adults to stay and help them. Of course, those good for nothing adults were so scared of the dragon that they didn't bother to think of the kids.
Luckily we’d, me and Luke, save them. Jenna was a very kind girl who love mothering anyone. She’s way too kind. Far too kind. She would go dig up arrowroots, tree roots, and plants spouts that are mostly still young. She would cook it for the kids, and sometimes won’t even eat it herself. That’s one of the reason that everyone liked her. Even him. However, Jin doesn’t like her as in a love sense. Only as a sister fondly like, like Samantha.

However, this also all change on that one day when he wake up from a nightmare.
It was a dream that show of another world.
Ones where Beast like Dragons are like fishes in the seas and beings so powerful that one breathe from them are enough to split continent apart. Ones were Beasts can turned into human with nothing but a flick of their finger. Where flying in the sky is a matter of strengths and powers, and even normal looking people could do.
Ones where one flicked of a finger was more than enough to killed beasts that are as large as a mountain. Where people can fly in the sky with floating rock, flying carpet, and paper of all thing. It was mind blowing how this world’s differences was from Jin's current world, it is like comparing a bird to the sky itself. He had never know that this world could be so large even with his opened minded.
Jin keep on having dreams of that world and of a girl. A girl that he feel a great deal of familiarity with. So familiar that tears penetrate Jin’s eyes when he seen her without even knowing why.
A girl that’s so very sweetly cute, adorable, and very intelligents in a very wise way. A girl that have large green eyes, long wavy green hairs that fall all the way to her feet. And this girl, really like to do things that make Jin’s skin’s shivered in cold and fear yet with awe.
In his dream, the girl was very adorable yet she wasn’t like Jenna who is kind to anyone that she meet without a boundary line. She is kind but not blindedly kind. She’s like a goddess that knew when enough is enough and when to show when kindness is needed. She’s smart, intelligent, wise, kind, yet she can be cold, ruthless, and merciless when needed or pushed. This girl was so brightly lite up that it make the sun look pale in comparison.
This girl isn’t just sweet, she can bitter, can be bland, can be acrid. She can be both bad and good. She was a lot of times indifferences toward the societies itself. She can be the darkest nightmare for some people or will be their angel from heaven. She was the first person to make Jin's heart trembles in nothing but awe and wonder. Whenever she smile at him, it would cause his whole being to shivers with an emotion that he can’t recognize.
And yet, whenever he woke up. There was always something that make Jin think that something is wrong. Like, he shouldn’t be seeing those dreams yet. Like, he shouldn’t be feeling those emotions yet. Like, the timing is off. A sense of ‘not-right’ always left him feeling both frustrated and completely overwhelming.
And then, his feelings starts to changes in direction. Whenever he seemed Jenna, who is far too nice, he can’t help but compared her to the girl in his dreams. He really have no reasons to think such thing. Much less compare them. Yet, he still does anyway. He had thoughted that maybe it was because of the way that Jenna smile even through her suffering, but that soon changes too. Jenna’s kindness is a Blind Kindness that make him sometimes feel uncomfortable, unlike the girl in his dream that make him fond and wanted to spoil her to death. The differences was far too much.
It had only began a week after their village was burned down and after he helped Arise and Jenna with their wounds. Since then, there was never a night that he won't dream of that world and that green hair girl. And so, he continued to compare Jenna with Megie whenever their eyes meets. And that, night had scared Jenna off because she went missing for a whole three days. It was on the third days that he recalled that Jenna liking to go pick up fishes from the rivers. He had thought that maybe she was there and wanted sometimes to herself. So, he didn't go find her there. Since he decided so, Jin had to calm everyone down and convinced the other kids that Jenna just need sometimes to herself and she would probably be back soon. So, instead of worrying about her, they should help him search for more things from the village chief's basement. They agreed.

It was in that morning when they found out that there won’t be enough Balint Milk Powder to last the week. So, he decided to go early in the morning after he instructed the kids to search more of the houses' basements for more usable things.
He take a couples of daylight hours to gathered enough for all of them to last two week. It was a good thing that Balint Milk Powder was very light even if he gather a lot of them. No, it didn't come out as powder form but rather as a thick liquid. It wasn't very heavy and it dried up very fast after it it left the trees so Jin didn't have a hard time gathering it.
However, when he finished collecting them and was half way back, he met with a group of merchants. After talking with the captain for a couple of minutes, Jin have a feeling that he can trust them. As Jin knew that he can trust his instincts of judging people's nature, he didn't rejected the captain’s request. And so, they went back together to the camp that they made. By the time that they made it back together, all Jin can see was someone cooking in the pot that they got from the village’s chief’s basement. Which was a surprise for him since he knew by heart that there is nothing to cook since there aren't enough Balint Milk Powder left for everyone. Unless Jenna once again is going to gave up her portion. He internal shake his head at that thought. This girl is really too blindly kind.
This girl is far too kind that she forget to take care of herself.
Yet, Jin’s senses tell him that something is different about Jenna. This morning when he left, the girl was still all smiling, even if she’s so pale and skinny that her bones are showing. Yet, when he came back, the air around Jenna is different. She is still nice but... there’s a cold atmosphere around her that make Jin feel very solemn. Although, it seems like he was the only one that noticed that some things is different about Jenna.
If he didn't know better, he would swear that this girl isn't Jenna but someone else. However, no matter how much he thought of it, there is also something in him that can't leave the current Jenna alone. Jin had never care about someone like this before. Not even his sister Samantha. He didn't know why that is either. The thoughts had scared him so much that he suspected that a witch might had passed by and curse him. Only to noted that the thought was so ridiculous that he nearly laughed himself to death.
Then two days after that, they left with the merchants. However, a couple of hours away from their now-nonexistence village, a large Tree Beast was waiting for them on the road. Jin and everyone else panic because this was the first time that they had ever met a Tree Beast. The presence and aura that it gave out was so heavy that Jin’s knees trembles in fear and the kids nearly cried when the Timberling came closer toward them.
Even Jin can tell that this Tree Beast is very strong without looking at the paleness of all the other merchants. It's presences and aura alone was more than enough to convince Jin of its strengths. Just because Jin had those dream doesn’t mean that he could stop himself from feeling the aura from a being more powerful than him in front of him. He isn’t even a cultivator, so how can he feel safe within the presence of someone or something like the Tree Beast?!
Just how strong was this Tree Beast?
Strong enough to make the strongest in the group-Captain - pale and shivers in fright. However, just as the Captain was going to have his team protect us, Jenna said to not too. The Captain actually stopped too. Which made everyone shock and surprised at the same time.
Moreover, what was even more surprising was that Jenna was conversing with the Tree Beast in a manner that suggest that they knew each other.
The Tree Beast even give her a whole lot of herbs and some kinds of gems that Captain can’t identity.
What is even more surprising is that Jenna did something to the gems that made it far smaller than it was originally was and then she sold it to the Captain, she said that the gems can be used to gather mana and stored it, earning another 6 golds in a flash.
But by then, Jin's feeling that Jenna isn’t the same one anymore was getting more and more stronger. She’s more quieter and more calm. She’s still is nice to everyone but it seems like she’s far too mature, smart, and wiser now compare to before. In fact, it was on that day when he went to gathered Balint Milk powders that Jenna had changed. He can still recalled the details of that day clearly. He really don’t know if that was a good thing or not.
She suddenly knew all kinds of herbs that they have never seen before. Even ones that can’t be found around their village. On their way toward the inner land of Aquirros, a lot of things happens, like learning how to read and write properly, or getting attacked by bandits became a daily things on the road. Yet, despite all these, Jenna was very calm.
Oh that's right.
In this world, the lands are endless and huge endless sea divided the world, No, not world, Continent! It might not be common knowledge but Jin does know that the land that he is standing on right is but a continent and isn’t the world world! So, this continent really is huge and beyond imagine for him. There have never been anyone talking about or documented about the edge of this world. One time, a legendary Magician flew with his partner, the Phoenix bird for 15 years straight and yet, he can’t even covered more than 10% of this continent. At the end, that Legendary come back with all sorts of knowledge in a documental journal along with proof of his journey.
Jin was still having those dreams of that other world, especially about a girl that was called “Little Megie” by the other guys. All the things that he seen are from the other guy’s perspective. That’s why when Jin see that Jenna was acting in a way that is similar to the girl called Little Megie in his dream, he knew that this Jenna isn’t the old one anymore.
However, Jin didn’t know why Jin would think Jenna and Megie acted a lot alike. Even though Jenna is far calmer-the present one at least-compare to Little Megie, the two of them aren’t the same. Still, there is always something in this Jenna that make Jin keep on comparing the two of them.
Lately, Jin have been in a very irritated mood. On their traveling, while making bandages with Jenna and everyone else, including a couple of curious adults, Jenna and the Captain got a lot closer. They converse like friends that knew each other for long time. And for some reason, that pissed Jin of to no end. So, Jin always get in between them. Something that he take great deal in.
And it wasn’t just that, for someone like Jin who always keep his cool no matter what happen, when seeing Jenna with someone else, be it Luke or Keith, it always make the blood inside his brain erupted. And it wasn’t with a protective sense either. Whenever Jin seen Jenna smile softly, his mind would always take him back to the images in his dream of that green haired girl who is always smiling toward the man in his stead.
Then Jin would find that his heartbeat is beating far too fast to be normal.
At least, it was until then. Suddenly, when he was helping the other kids making bandages, thousands of years of memories suddenly enter into his brain, making he feel a pain that he had never felt before in his whole life. Then nothing...
What he see in those memories was something that Jin had never ever think of or heard of before. Jin was called Kainen Moonshine. The older brother of Megie Moonshine. They both are the only children of the 16th son of the 3rd Elder of the Moonshine Clan. Both their parents have the same last name before and after marriages. So both Megie and Kainen was one of the Outer Tier of the family. There are three tiers in the Moonshine Clan. The Outer Tier is the commoner sides of the family, the Middle Tier was where nearly all the important people’s at. And the Inner Tier is where the Elders and Family Elder’s are at.
There are 5 Elders and a single Headmaster.
Honestly speaking, he had never seen the Elders or Headmaster before.
However, these details doesn’t interested Kainen at all. Ever since he was born, he was a commoner. He went to a regular fourth stars school for the commoner, made friends with the commoner, play with them, and hunts with them. He even planned on marrying someone from outside the Clan that are also a commoner! Yet, this all change on that day that his little sister was born. That plan of marrying someone from outside the family turned to ash and vanished, leaving only with the thought and wishes that his wife will only be Little Megie!
That is why, Kainen didn’t know that the Moonshine have one special Skills that only the inner tier elder’s family knew of. It was a secret recipes that make their bloodline very disease resistance. That is how they have survived even when people from nobilities family died. After all, the Moonshine Clan is just a small family that have only about 700s members, including both the Outer Tier and the Middle Tier Family. They are just one of the large family that are commoners. They might be richer than the normal commoner but that’s only because they have their own methods on how to killed Beast since normal Red Blood Beast doesn’t go near them.
So all the Beast that they hunted was either Blue Blood or Green Blood. Which is why they are richer than the normal commoner family. Yet, they strictly control their family members to be only within the limit! It is because they knew that once their number get higher than a normal commoner clan should be, they will draw attention from all sort of larger Clan and Sect!
Kainen can say with 100% truthness that he isn’t rich. He did get allowance from his parents, like 100 Beast Coin every month but he never use it for anything other than buying more scrolls and inscription for school. Sometimes he would go hunted with his friends for materials and for a couple more Beast Coin to buy some sweet fruits or to help them cultivate but that is it. He is a normal boy that you can find anywhere else. His eyes and hair might be a bit different from everyone else but no one pay attention to that when people all have different kinds of features.
Like red hair, red eyes that are like Beast.
The Loyalty family all have Red Eyes and Bright Red Hair that burned in the sun so his feature isn’t something that are uncommon. There was even people who have more than 4 colors of hairs. Some even have more than 8 colors. That is why no one cared.
So when his little sister Little Megie was born, Kainen can swore to God that she is the cutest thing in this whole world. Kainen would spoil her with all kinds of sweets and all kind of thing. However, when his baby sister turned 3 years old, she start to be very curious about how this thing can cause that thing to act like this way.
She was especially interest in alchemy.
And so, Kainen have no choice but to follow her to the forest to gather all kinds of herbs and gems, and other stuff that made him pale thinking about it.
What surprised him the most was that his little Megie is one hell of a genius with magic controlling. As a woman from the Moonshine Clan, she didn’t have to go to school until she’s 4 years old but that doesn’t mean that she can’t learn magic earlier. She just didn’t bother with school even when her age comes.
She won’t go to school even when his parents asked her too.
Instead, she would asked him to tutored her with anything that she doesn’t understand, Within a year, she learns how to read, write, do math, meditate, and all sorts of stuff. She even learned how to identify edible greens in the middle of a forest!!!
When Megie had turned 6 years old, she started to take interests in formation array and inscription’s effect on potions and serum. She starts to play with alchemy and how formation array and inscription had affected potions. This topic wasn’t so rare that he won’t know about it. Although, it wasn’t common knowledge, it wasn’t a secret either. So when Megie starts to develop interests in this topic, he see nothing wrong with it. Especially when he knew that his Little Megie had a very strong curiosity minds and was extreme wise for her age.
Still, as time passed by, he found himself doing all sorts of things or finding all sorts of weird looking herbs and plants for Little Megie. He watches as Little Megie get more and more scary as she modified all sort of alchemy potion, pill, serum, and pellets with nothing but a clear understanding of how Inscription and Formation Array had caused on the pill, potion, pellet, or serum itself to get even more efficiently. A normal potion for healing in Tier One turns to a Tier Two Potion with nothing but a change in the Formation Array or Inscription. A lowly level herbs turns to mid level with a twitch of her hand. And so on, and no.
Let’s not forget that she doesn’t like attention and would a lot of time locking herself in the basement while doing a bunch of experiment with all kinds of herbs and weeds or other stuff that she found. All kinds of potion were recreated by Megie and then let him secretly sold them to the auction house. You will be surprised at how much those potion cost!
Still, as time passed by, Megie and Kainen got more closer together. It was when Megie turned 16 that they got official engaged and married a year later. However, it was after their marriage that things started to change for bad and worse. It wasn’t just their family that was affected. It was the whole continent as a whole.
The Beast’s King ascended again. The last King was killed more than 1000 years ago, which made the Human safe for that long. However, after 1000 years, human started to think that the beast won’t ever have another king ever again because the previous King’s lineage was all killed already. So they got cocky and let their pride blinds them, turning it into arrogant, leading them to act with no restrains toward the Beasts. Except for the Moonshine Clan, every humans in the whole continent see the Beast as their prey and not a lifeform that they should respect and fear. So, it didn’t take long for the beasts to snapped in their restrain.
A new King of Beast ascended when Kainen was 38 years old. And things starts to change for the human.
Nevertheless, because human have never thought that another King would ascended so soon, they have no preparation for the damage that it caused. And this King was so different from all other kings before that even with preparation, it won’t do anything.
This King make all the Beast to be far more stronger and tougher than anything before. So strong that even enhanced weapons had little effects on it.
His intelligence was on another whole new level from all the known King from history. A beast with intelligence and wisdom isn’t something that human can cope with unless there’s another human who is equally intelligent and wise. Little Megie was smart, intelligent, wise and very profound but she was only a small girl back then. She was only 17 years old when Kainen and her gotten married. She was far too inexperienced.
If a Red Blood Beast of Tier 1 Rank 1 was the lowest and require a Tier 1 Rank 10 cultivator practitioner to killed it then the Beast after the King ascend was far more stronger. A Low Tier 1 Rank 1 will require more than 10 Tier 1 rank 10 to killed it, and only 1 of the 10 people will come back alive.
Whatever it was that the King Beast had done, it made it that normal weapons and enhanced ones won’t be able to cut the skin of the beast. And so, that years along, The Human Kingdom was nearly wrap out. From a total of 15 billions people to 15 millions people. They had lost more than 1000 percentages of their people. From 15 billions to 15 millions was a huge disaster for them.
That wasn’t just a disaster. It was a calamity in its finest moment.
However, no one in the Moonshine family died. All because no beast would come within a 10 kilometer of them.
And that was the cause of their problem. When the beast started to invade the human continent, Kainen have a very bad premonition so he made both his parent moved to another continent that is far away from the one that they’re on, even if it was the poorest continent. A continent that would had taken them years to go to and cost them an arm and a leg.
So doing whatever Kainen can, he brought his three cousins and his little Megie with him and move far far away from the human countries, all the way to the edge of the continent’s map where no beast or human wanted to stay- that saved them. For years, they lived in peace. Since it was in a place that no human have ever been to, there wasn’t anyone that would noticed them. So, once a year Kainen and his cousin’s husband would traveled to the nearest town to trade potion, herbs, bandages, and Beast meats for Crystal Salts, Crystallized Sugar, and fabrics.
Since their blood, if smeared on weapons can cut thru the beasts, it was easy for them to hunted beast since they do have the magic spell that can conceal themselves. Kainen and them had no problem traveling from the edge of the continent to trades for commodities once a year.
They lived like that for many years. Megie borne him three girls and 3 boys while his other cousins, whom got married to a couple of adventures that got lost on their ways and was found by Kainen, all have their own children long before Megie and him. They formed a somewhat small village with nothing but their own efforts.
There was only 17 adults, Kainen himself, and his older cousin’s husbands. Yet, they lived peacefully with little care of the world. If they wanted something, Kainen and Megie can created them. Potion? No problem. The only reason why Kainen would trade for potion from other villages was for comparison and references for Megie. Resources such as metal and season? Not a problem. They had their own mines in the back of their village. Season salt? Not really a problem either since they can extracted the salt from the sea. They only trade for the salts from the villages, the Crystal Salts, because it was good for preserving meats for long terms. Something that they lack in their small village. As for Sugar? They farmed their own sugarcane farm so that isn’t a problem either. The only problem was fabrics. Because Megie was far too busy to research on how to make fabrics using the limited resources in their hand, they had to trades for more fabrics for the newborn in the village. This continue for many years.
That all change when a group of bandits found them. If they were a normal groups of bandits then there was nothing to worry about since both Kainen and Megie are strong enough to obliterate the bandits with a flick of their hand. However, this groups of bandits carried a unknown disease that even their bloodline can’t counter. It was Little Megie who find out that these mans weren’t normal. However, by then, it was already too late.
Their youngest child lost his life because of that disease.
Megie was pissed. And heartbroken.
Royally pissed.
Megie can be cruel if she wanted to. However, this time, it wasn’t cruelty. It was completely massacre. No one was alive after Megie was done with them. No even a dust of their mana essence was left. Neither was their soul.
Megie is very scary when she’s pissed off. She wasn’t the only one that was mad. Kainen was too. However, a couple of days after that, the illness make him lost his conscious. By the time that he regain his conscious, years went by already and Megie have once again make a whole new cure for them. By the time that he wakes up, their family members were all death. The only one that didn’t died was their youngest children called Newin. Still, it had caused Newin to be so weak that Megie had to strengthen his body once a day with mana for him to be able to live peacefully.
The disease wasn’t the only thing that Megie cure them off. Their troublesome bloodline was cured too. Kainen didn’t know whether this was a good thing or a bad thing but a couple of years after that, the King beast’s son found them.
It was a battle that last for 5 days between Megie and the Son of the King Beast. Kainen was far too weak to even be comparing his magic skills with his Little Megie. For five days, all Kainen can do was watched in worried and killed as much of weaker beast as he can. He killed over a thousands of them that his level allow. However, by the end of it, their child Newin were killed too. At the end, Megie emerge the winner and killed the son of the King of Beast.
Because of the injuries that Kainen got, Megie have to go gather more herbs to make pills for him. By the time that she left, his premonition had once again acts up. He had a premonition of imminent disaster that would befall this small village once Megie left.
Luckily, Kainen remember that one of the new Magic spell that Megie made was capable of sending his soul to a new body if anything happens to his body. It was called the Soul Contract Binding Axis Spell.
He didn’t hesitantly to use it when the King of the Beast come for his son’s body and revenge. What he didn’t know was that using it would only work if he got into the body of a child that is less than one year's.
When Megie was gone for 3 days, The King of Beast himself came to look for his son.
You can already guess the results. Everyone died- even the ones that survived the fight with the Son of the Beast. Everyone but him - since he had activated the spell on himself once he feel the premonition when Megie left.
The next thing that he remember was in a body of a child. With no choose, Kainen was forced to once again regrowth until he is 12 years old and then he left to find his Little Megie again. For hundreds of years he can’t find little Megie.
By the time that he did, his little cute, adorable, smart, intelligent Megie wasn’t the same one who always smile anymore. There are occasionally time that she would crack a smile but her eyes look dead. That sight hurt Kainen’s heart the most. However, one thing that make Kainen surprised was that his little Megie look exactly the same hundreds of years ago when Kainen himself is an old man already. He thinks he knew why Little Megie had looked the same as she did before.
His sweet little Megie... He watches as her new life come before his very eyes. He watches as his Little Megie’s marriage life come before his eyes. He watch how the man treated her fairly. How he only have her in his eyes. How he smile even when Little Megie’s impressive face doesn’t change a bit. He just doesn’t know if Little Megie was happy with her life since she doesn’t even crack a heartfelt smile.
And then the accidents repeat itself. Kainen have always have a keen instinct. He knew that disaster will strike his little Megie’s life if she stay so he send her a note: Letting her know that her bloodline’s secrets was already known by the King of that Kingdom. And it was her own husband that let it be known.
Megie is smart. She left him without a word.
Kainen might be a so called genius this time but he isn’t a grand Mage. And so another couple of years passed by and his soul passed away by himself in a deep cave. Regretting that he can’t see Megie for the last time.
However, when he regained his conscious, he didn’t died. Turn out that the spell that his little Megie had created was more than just that. As long as the one that created this magic spell is alive, no matter how long, the soul that this magic bind to will be reborn with their memories intact. This make Kainen so surprised that he didn’t know what to do for a couple of years.
But after he got a hold of himself, he keep reborning with his intact memories from the lives before and he keep searching for his little Megie. Some lives, he found her some he didn’t. Majority of the lives that he found her, he would only watch her from far away, afraid of making her new life a messed.
By the time that Kainen was reborn for the tenth time, he now knows how to control the spell and would make him borne to some place near to his little Megie.
That happen for 5 thousands of years. He continues to chase his Little Megie every time that he was born. As each time he reborn, he would get stronger and stronger. His soul would get stronger and purer, making his cultivation faster and steadier.
However, his last reincarnate, something happen and his soul has transferred to some place far far away. So far that he didn’t know where he was. So far that he can’t even feel the resonance of his soul to the magic spell that is binding him. For the first time in his awareness, Kainen feared that he would never see Little Megie again.
Then darkness... Sometimes he would wake up for a brief moment then went back to sleep. Then it repeated for a couple of times. however, the last wakes resonance his soul force, making him fully awake for the first time in so very long.
When he come to, what he saw make his eyes burned with tears. His little Megie is now so small again. The looks of the girl in front of him might be different but he can feel that her soul and Megie’s soul are exactly the same. He can tell since his very soul was bound to her magic.
Then he fainted from the pain that his brain have to go through as it assimilated his memory to the present ones. Normally, it wasn’t this painful however, because his memories and the memories of this life wasn’t connected from the beginning, it caused pain so much that he fainted. So more than five thousands years worth of memories are now being resonance to this soul’s core.
It will take a long while.
X__X X____X
After Jin fainted again. Jenna’s mind was in a panic. However, years of experiences forced her mind to calm down after a couple of seconds.
What in the world is going on?
When Jenna send her soul force to heal Jin, she felt that something isn’t fully natural about the way that his soul feel. Jenna was already suspicious.
This feeling... there’s a magic spell binding his soul? Let’s see... I closed my eyes and sends my mana force blending with my soul force into the deep of Jin’s soul core.
What I found make my blood chill.
This is...
This spell...
Why... Why is it binding him?!
This is a incompletely spell that I haven’t yet fully completely it! Why it is binding his soul?!
Don’t tell me that Kainen actually used that spell?!
This spell was originated suppose to bind two soul together to form an Axis across time!
When one of them died, if the other isn’t dead then the one that died can come back to life with the same appearance and same age that he or she was when they died in! However, if Kainen actually used that spell then he won’t be here in this world!
It was the Soul Contract Binding Axis Spell!
And this Magic Spell isn’t even a Spell! Not a true Spell, at least!
This is Rune Magic Spell! It wasn’t for human! It was a contract that can only work with Elemental Spirits Summon! And it wasn’t even suppose to last longer than 1500 years!
However, because the spell was incompletely, and was used by Kainen who soul force is similar to Megie’s, the spell actually work?!
Does that mean that Kainen’s soul was bind to mine without me even knowing it? How many times did he come back until now? The process of coming back isn’t easy since it is a Soul Reincarnated so it is very painful for the soul. Each time, it would corrupted the soul and make it lesser than the previous!
Especially for a Magician’s soul! But since Kainen isn’t a magician, I shouldn’t be worry about that. I convinced myself.
What make me mad is the fact that this spell shouldn’t be used on a Human Soul!!!
This spell have a 99.999% chances that it will obliterated his soul since he is a Human!
Yet, Kainen isn’t showing the symptoms of someone whose soul should be in pain nor was his soul impure.
What in the world is happening?
It is because Megie’s soul is far too strong that it bind both their soul together, forming an Axis that stretched across multiple reincarnation? It is so strong of a Axis that Kainen isn’t going thru the pain? Or it is because the spell wasn’t even complete that the symptoms isn’t showing?
Anyway, I need to see the Rune Magic physical form to see what went wrong with the incomplete spell but I will need a Green Blood Beast and a lot of different kinds of materials to support the spell without it killing Jin now that he’s Awakened.
Ahh, what a headache. This body isn’t used to thinking this fast. Needs to trained this body more in both the mental aspects and the physical aspect.
With magic, it is as easy as breathing to make this body strong but I don’t really like that. Only with Physically training would this body be able to support the magic that I will be using it.
Looking at Jin who is sleeping peacefully, I can’t help seeing both the physical and spiritual soul looks from Jin. The body is of a teenage but the soul force was far too strong. It seems like I won’t be the only one that needs to train.
If the body isn’t strong enough, the force within the body will be very strains and stuffy so he and I can’t used much mana without damaging the inside of our body.
There is nothing that I can do now. Let’s just wait for him to wake up.
I walked toward the door and opened it. I knew that the captain will be right outside so I wasn’t surprised once I see him leaning against the wall, looking both worried and curious.
It seems like Captain is waiting for me. It has already been more than 3 hours since I locked them out after all.
“Jenna, how is Jin?” Clapton was clearly worried about Jin’s health but for some reasons, he look like he was also worried about me.
“He is fine now. He's asleep now.” I sighs out loud as I walked toward my room, I really need to finished those pills especially when Jin will be needing them too.
“What was the problem?” The captain asked as he walked with me.
I stopped walking. That question... should I really answer him?
“His soul is going thru a state of Recalling.” I answered after a long minute of completely silence that including me looking sharply at the captain.
“Recalling? What is that?” He asked curiously.
“Recalling is a state when the soul of a person recalled their previous life. However, this doesn’t happen to everyone. This only happen when the soul from the previous life and the one in the current ones are in a perfectly sync and harmony state. Onces a soul is being reborn, they will lose all their previous memories and the soul will then begin to change according to their new life. However, there are cases that both the previous life and the current one will be the same. When that happen, the soul will enter into a State of Recall. It is a very painful process with a chances of 99.999% of the current soul being destroyed.” I answered with a much of information as possible without revealing the whole true.
“Jin is recalling his previous life?” Shock was the understatement of the time if it was used to describe what Clapton is feeling right now.
“Yes, right now let him rest. His soul needs to readjust to the current one. It will take at least 3 days to 5 days for him to wake up.” I said as I opened the door to my room when a strong earthy smell emitted from the inside, causing the captain to choke and make faces. I closed the door without hearing his answer. No matter what, Clapton won’t tell the kids or anyone else the true and make up a lied that will let Jin rest for that time so I don’t need to worry about it.
Shaking my head, I decided to not worry about that and concentrate on what I am going to do.
I started to refined everything again.
Outside of the house, all the kids were frowning with worries on their faces as they makes the bandages. There are three type of different sizes of bandages that they are currently making.
From small rolls of bandages that are used for small deep cuts to large wide ones that are used for life threatened times, the kids are all helping each other making it. Even Samantha, who is the most worries about her brother. She and Rebecca were emerging the small rolls of clothes into the herbs and cooked it. For a full count of 500 seconds, both Rebecca and Samantha count them as they stirred the pot of clothes in the fermented herbs.
When it hit 500, both of them pull out the clothes and let it cool down for another 500 counts of seconds before removing the extra liquids on the clothes and poured it back to the pot to cooked it for another 10 minutes before it could be used again on another rolls of clothes.
Then they both went to help the other kids with theirs ‘jobs’ while waiting for the bandages to cool and absorbed the healing properties of the herbs. Once in awhile Samantha would look toward her brother’s room and sighed in worried, causing the other kids to stopped and look worried too.
After a while, they all stopped when suddenly Jin’s room shine with a brightness that make their hair stood up in fright.
“Brother!” Samantha wanted to go inside but Linah holds her back.
“Your brother is fine. Jenna is looking after him now. Don’t interrupt her work.” She said. Linah had long ago stop thinking that Jenna is a kid. Actually, she never even thought that Jenna was a kid before.
Samantha looks hesitant for a second and then nodded in understanding.
Inside Jenna’s room, rows and rows of herbs were being held in midair as Jenna refined them into powder. One pill after another was being made and was dropping into a large iron bowl that has three Inscription Spell on it. These spells are the work of Jenna. The bowl was automatically spinning in a counterclockwise direction as one after another pill keeps dropping inside. In the middle of the bowl was some liquid that each pill will be coated once it meets, causing the pills to shine a bit before it moves to the top.
Before long the bowl was filled all the way to the top without spilling any. However, Jenna didn’t stop. She continues refining the herbs and continues making more and more pills of medicines. It didn’t take long for all the herbs to be refined with the rate that Jenna is refining.
If anyone saw the rate that Jenna is refining all those medicines, they would probably faint from shock if not outright die from it.
Next, she takes the iron ring from a box and places it on the ground while the bowl of medicine pills continue spinning.
Jenna then closed her eyes and one of her fingers started to write Ruin Magic Spell in the air while the other hands started to make all kinds of Symbols. When the spells from the finger intersect with the symbols from the other hand, they started to twist around each other, creating a spiral that looks like the center of the universe. Jenna keeps doing that until the spiral spells in the air turn dark green. Then she opened her eyes and control the dark green spiral spells in the air into the iron ring. It started to fill the inside of the ring and then continuing surrounding the ring until the last symbols disappeared into the ring.
Jenna sighed out loud and pants in exhaustion.
Damn, it seems like spatial magic is too much for this body at the moment. However, it was worth it.
Taking out a needle, I poke my index finger and let out three drops of blood onto the ring. The blood disappoints inside the ring as it absorbs the magic inside the blood. The silver colored iron ring then turned dark green and shine as a picture of 9 petal flowers was revealed.
I pick up the ring and put it on my index finger.
This ring is a special ring.
How special?
It is an interspatial ring. A ring that has a vacuum space for holding anything, living or nonliving. Not a spatial ring but an interspatial ring. Spatial ring or universal rings in this world isn’t something that she can make yet since her understanding of this world’s Space Law and Force isn’t that high yet.
From what the captain had told me, an interspatial ring is an Artifact Item that only the richest of the rich can have. He himself doesn’t even have one because it cost more than 20 years worth of his total earnings. Not to mention, there isn’t anyone who is willing to sell it.
According to Clapton, about a couple million of years ago, Interspatial Ring was very common but after all this time, only the richest of the rich can buy it. After all, once a Ring is a bind with someone, they are bonded for life. Or so he said.
That’s bullshit. Why in the world would I make crappy rings that only bind to one person?
The bond can be undone as long as you know the reverse spell for the interspatial rings.
This one was just an ordinally iron ring but after I infused the Inscription and Formation Array of the Law and Force into the ring, it becomes an Interspatial Ring. This is the best that I can make now.
It was easily done by me. After all, I have affirmative with Space Magic too. Wearing the ring, I willed the Ring to open the door to its space. The ring let out a small shine as all the pills in the bowl along with the bowl disappeared into the ring.
Hmmm... Not bad. There’s a 3 by 3 by 3 square meters of spaces inside. Not that big of a space but big enough.
With a flick of my finger, all of my stuff inside the room vanished.
Then with another thought, ten pills of fall into my hand.
This is Nine Immortal Pills. One of them was more than enough for a warrior to strengthen his or her body from the Foundation Establishment stages rank 1 to rank 10 in a blink of an eye.
It was more than enough to increase the cultivation of a low rank 1 to rank 5 once you refined it in your body. However, for Jenna, this isn’t even near enough.
She put the pills back inside and started to train. She won’t use the pills now. Jenna is going to wait for when Jin wakes up and then they can start refining it together using Dual Meditation Soul Bond. Two soul refining a Nine Immortal Pills has five times the effects with less than half the efforts.
Jenna closed her eyes as her thoughts enter into a stage of Sharpness. Ever seconds passed in her mind and soul was much faster than the time outside. Soon, her body started to shine in blue and then green.
Jenna continues this states for days.
She didn’t need to worry about someone coming in since the kids are sharing rooms with someone else after knowing that Jenna is practicing.
Soon, it was the 5th day since Jin last awake. Jenna opened her eyes and breathe out loud.
For some reason, her whole body is quivering with excitement and expectation. And no, it wasn’t just her body. Jenna can tell and feel that her very soul is shivering with excitement and expectation.
And so, Jenna made her way toward the room that Jin is now in with a somewhat perfectly poker face on.

The Essence of Cultivation
After experiencing five years of an adventurer's life, Arcanist Sylar Wershin now spends his days catching up on developments in Essence Studies and teasing apart the functions of arcane trinkets and artifacts discovered by him and his companions throughout their time travelling the realms of Resham. An unexpected accident during the study of his latest subject of intrigue, however, displaces him across the Planes beyond what any known spell is capable of achieving. Now finding himself lost in a realm rich in previously-limited Transcendental Essences, however, does he truly even want to return back to his old world? If nothing else, plagiarising - ahem, learning new spell structures by observing the local mages should prove entertaining. Sure, there were new dangers in this foreign world, but they wouldn't be anything a fancy bit of spellwork couldn't solve. Though, he would appreciate it greatly if someone could explain to him just what this 'cultivation' business was, why the local Mages were all muscle-brained freaks obsessed with immortality, and why they all seemed to lack any appreciation for the finer details of Essence manipulation. That would be nice.

8 149A Prose of Years
For decades, spiritualist Evert Kallstrom and his team have joined in humanity’s millennia-long fight against the beasts. Wielding their weapons and their ki, they fought and killed these great threats to civilization. And yet, despite their efforts, humanity was losing traction in the war. In the last fifty years alone, more cities had been overrun than in all of known history. While most thought the great beasts natural, a few knew the terrible truth. They were the product of a dark lord, who desired neither fame nor wealth nor power. Instead, his sole purpose was the genocide of humanity. While their peers dithered, a small faction of the strongest mankind had to offer—including Evert Kallstrom and his team—set out towards the Deadlands to find and confront this dark lord. After weeks of travel, twenty-one spiritualists found themselves approaching an ancient fortress wherein rested a being known only as the Eastern Guardian. All they found was death. But death has other plans for Evert. Evert bolts awake in his 16 year old body near his hometown, decades in the past. He is confused, poor and weak. But with grit, sweat, and years of experience, he won't let the future repeat itself. That level of strength won't be enough by itself (it wasn’t last time) and victory is hardly assured (he’ll need to reach farther and higher than he ever did), but Evert refuses to squander a second chance. [Other tags: First Person POV, Hard Magic, Faulty Memory] Volume 1 is complete and has been fully released. My current intention is not to write any sequel volumes. Note: If you came here from Candlelit Lives, these stories have nothing in common.
8 148Defy the Heavens?
Hey there, Dear comrades, I am just a common guy from a common background. How should I say this.. I died on earth, old age of an old illness. something that could have been prevented. How did I reincarnate? No idea. For almost ten years, I assumed I was just like any other kid. Maybe blessed by the heavens but I was a commoner all the same. However, stuff happens and here I am trying to meek out an existences for myself. You know how it is. Killing enemies with epic sword skills, purifying the souls of barbarians with fire, walking in mid air like I am superman. Haha, just being a typical american in not so typical fantasy world. What's the worse that can happen, right? What's so hard about defying the heavens? Didn't we used to defy our stomachs by ordering taco bell? Or how about defying our presidents by voting for their rivals next election date? Ha, these are soo much more complicated process than simply killing off the annoying people. Cutting down heavens when they stand in our way, and enjoying life to the fullest? I mean, this is the american dream!
