《Dimensional Paradise》Chapter 86 – The Cat’s Fight (1)

Aya was looking down at the street where Aleen was fighting.
She could see flashes of lightning and human parts scattered around. Each second, one or two zombies would fall dead while Aleen continued slashing with his sword indifferently.
To be honest, Aya never liked violence, but she had to admit that the image of Aleen jumping down to lure the zombies was very cool.
And she wasn’t the only one that thought so.
The rest of the group also was looking down towards Aleen in admiration and fear.
It reminded her of when she first met Aleen.
Back then, she was in a hopeless situation, and a crazy man was about to kill her; but then, he appeared with a flash of lightning, killing the robber in one move.
She had to admit that she was a bit captivated back then.
Even if the reason because he appeared wasn’t her.
The group continued observing Aleen until he left the street. He was going in the opposite direction of their meeting place and making a big commotion to attract the greater number of zombies possible.
When she could not see Aleen anymore, she turned around to look at the rest of the group.
“Let’s go.” She said without changing her expressionless look.
She saw some of them frowning to her words, but she ignored it. Instead, she put Lily on the ground and grabbed her short spear with both hands.
“Follow after me.” She muttered softly to her cat.
Lily answered with a soft meow.
Without waiting for the others, she went towards the stairs and jumped down.
Most of the zombies had chased after Aleen, but a few remained on the stairs. Aya, however, didn’t hesitate and attacked them quickly with her spear.
As Aleen said, he had lured most of the zombies already, how could she cower just because of a few monsters?
With a swift movement, she stabbed her spear forward, skewering a zombie through its head. She then retracted her spear and stabbed towards the ground, killing a zombie that was lying on the ground; probably crushed by the others zombies when they were attacking the group.

Aya never learned how to fight, but she had fought a few times while living on the streets. Of course, that wasn’t enough to make her a martial arts expert.
But strangely, she was confident that she could kill those zombies easily.
And true enough, she killed them.
Her movements were strange. They weren’t the most efficient moves, but she could always use them to kill a zombie effectively.
It was as if something in her mind was telling her how she must move next.
If she had to describe it with a word, she would call it ‘instinct’.
Now that she thought about it, the same happened when she fought the robber.
Though back then, it wasn’t so clear as now.
Yes, from the moment when she appeared in this game, she could feel this instinct clearly.
How to move, how to run, how to hide, how to attack.
Was it the skill mentioned by Aleen?
She didn’t know, but it wasn’t important now.
If it could help her to survive this nightmare, it was enough.
When she reached the end of the stairs, a path of corpses had been left behind her.
“Hurry up.” She said coldly to the others who were astonished on the roof. “It would be bad if we are noticed by the zombies.”
The others finally reacted and followed after her.
Meanwhile, she looked down at her feet. There, Lily was standing while looking vigilantly to the surroundings.
Aya could not help but let out a small smile. “Help me to watch over the surroundings, and tell me if you notice something strange.”
“Meow!” Lily mewed happily and moved her head as if nodding.
When the others finally came down, Aya nodded softly and proceeded to advance.
As in the stairs, not all the zombies had been lured by Aleen. A few stragglers were left behind, wandering on the streets.
They immediately turned to the group when they heard their steps, and without hesitation, screamed and rushed to attack them.

“We cannot stay here much longer.” The guy with the stubble said. “We’ll be in trouble if the zombies who chased after Aleen are attracted by the commotion here.”
Aya didn’t say anything, but she knew it was true; so, before the zombies could reach them, she sprinted forward and meet them in the middle of the street. Using her spear as a club, she bashed the first zombie in the head and crushed the neck of another; then, she spun slightly and used the spearpoint to pierce the eye of a zombie coming from the right.
The others followed her example and started running.
The two bodyguards and the stubble guy took the front and used their weapons to kill a few zombies; they were way worse than Aya, but at least, they could help to reduce her burden.
To be honest, the zombies were not very strong, and even a slightly strong adult could kill one if he had a weapon. What makes zombies frightening, was their great number and that they only need to injure you and everything was finished.
So, though it was a bit dangerous, now that most of the zombies had been attracted by Aleen, they could advance quickly towards their meeting point.
At that moment, a dog-like zombie jumped from a corner.
Aya heard Lily meowing and reacted instantly, trying to stab it with her spear, but this zombie was nimbler than the others. It quickly jumped aside evading the attack, before pouncing again towards Aya.
Aya didn’t panicked. Instead, she spun slightly to the right and used the shaft to hit a side of the dog.
The dog received the hit fully and flew a few meters to the right, but it quickly stood up again as nothing happened, and growled deeply to Aya.
Aya retracted her spear and rushed towards the dog, intending to kill it before it recovers from the blow, but at that moment, Lily, who was behind her, growled in warning.
“Meow!”
Aya reacted immediately, and looked towards the direction where Lily was growling. It was another animal zombie, but if the one she was fighting now was a dog, this one seemed more like a cat.
The zombie cat leaped from a roof and attacked the rest of the group.
“Careful!” Aya cried, alerting to the others of the enemy.
Aya wanted to go to stop it, but the dog zombie was attacking at the same time.
She cursed in her mind and concentrated on dealing with the dog. She could only hope that the others could manage to defend against the cat zombie.
The cat zombie, however, was very agile. Before they could react, it had attacked one member of the group already.
Its movements were almost ghostly, and the surprised man only reacted when he saw the monster near his face.
Frightened, the slightly overweight man waved the machete in his hands frantically, but the cat mocked his poor excuse of attack with a slight movement and then, jumped towards his face.
The man only felt a brief something to touch his neck and then, he saw the cat retreated.
For an instant, the man was unable to understand what happened.
But when he saw the expressions of terror in the other’s eyes, he looked down.
A river of blood was flowing from his neck.
… I died?
With it as his last thought, his consciousness darkened.
Then, his body fell forward.

Jordan Leoren is, unfortunately, not your average 10-year-old boy. He is handsome, from a rich family, and has been a very popular child model and actor since the age of 4. His long golden locks and piercing blue eyes could be easily identified by anyone in England and many across the world...and he hates it. He doesn't want the fame and attention, nor does he want jealous looks from other boys when the girls swarm him. All he wants from life is to explore and discover the unknown. From artifacts and treasures located deep in dungeons to strange glyphs or languages found covering ancient ruins. He longs for adventure and to be free of his constricting schedule. If it wasn't for his parent's proud smiles and expectant eyes, he would have long ago quit and lived normally. He lives a kilometer or so from the small village of Godric's Hollow in his family's manor. This manor has been in his family for generations and they are considered one of the founders of the village. This, and the small-town vibe, basically ensure Jordan cannot go anywhere in the village without being immediately noticed and called for pictures, autographs, or asked to meet people's sons or daughters. Jordan's saving grace is the huge plot of land that his family owns around their manor, and it is his one source of adventure and escape. It is in this large expanse of rolling hills, lush and verdant forests, and rocky crags that he finds a secret. A secret found just days before his 11th birthday. A secret that truly starts his life. No more dreaming of adventure, it is time for him to experience it and discover the mysteries of a strange new world and his family's legacy. The legend of Jordan Godric Leoren is about to begin.
