《Dimensional Paradise》Chapter 83 – Zombies (4)

Aleen peeked through a hole in the wall to identify the situation ahead.
“One two three… Seven.” He counted in a low voice and returned to the group when he confirmed the number of zombies.
They currently were a block away from the school where they appeared. After the glasses-wearing man committed suicide, the group continued in a tense silence. Fortunately, the roof of the store-like building was connected to other buildings, so the group was able to continue without being detected by the zombies.
Unfortunately, though, the block could only be so long.
After going through seven or eight buildings, the group finally reached the end of the street, and if they wanted to continue, they had to cross the street.
However, the street wasn’t precisely empty.
Once he saw the other seven people traveling with him, he communicated his findings in low voice.
“There are seven zombies in the street.”
The group’s expressions tensed immediately; Aleen, however, continued as if he didn’t see it.
“To be honest, I can kill that number of zombies easily, but I don’t want to take an unnecessary risk. We are still too close to the horde of zombies surrounding the hospital, and if for some reason, they are alerted of our presence, then our situation will turn ugly.”
“T-Then… W-What are we going to do?” The last person of the group, a slightly chubby man in his late twenties, asked while stuttering nervously.
Aleen remained silent for a moment and organized his thoughts. “We don’t know if the zombies have a method to communicate between them, so It’s best if the zombies didn’t discover us. Fortunately, there are some abandoned vehicles that we can use as cover.”
The group could only accept his suggestion without complaining.
They then followed Aleen towards the place where the abandoned vehicles were located and gulped down nervously.

Though Aleen called them vehicles, they were a bit different than the ones on earth; and had a very alien felt to them. Despite it, though, Aleen was sure that they were a kind of vehicle when he saw the wheels.
Aleen breathed deeply and looked to the group firmly before speaking.
“I’m going first. Remember, don’t make noise and try not to be discovered.”
The others nodded nervously.
Taking a mouthful of air, Aleen circulated a small amount of mana through his body to enhance his senses and without thinking twice, rushed towards the first car.
Though he didn’t use his skill, his movements were absurdly fast, at least twice as fast as the fastest man on earth; but despite it, his steps were light, and his breathing was almost silent. In an instant, he was behind the first vehicle.
The white-collar woman covered her mouth in panic when Aleen moved, but the zombies didn’t react; it was clear that Aleen's movements went completely undetected.
With his confidence boosted, he rushed to the next car, and then to the next. Aleen noticed that the zombies were less alert than he thought, making the process easier than expected. From what he could see, the zombies probably would not react unless they feel a strong external stimulus.
So, if the group was careful, they probably could cross undetected.
After he crossed the street, he hid inside a building and signaled the rest of the group to start.
The one who took the initiative was again Aya. She followed Aleen’s example and made her steps light before jumping towards the vehicles.
To be honest, Aleen got the impression that she crossed the street even smoother than him.
Was it related to her skill, or was it simply talent? Aleen could not understand, but he could see that, despite carrying the silver cat on her arms, Aya’s movements were fast, silent, and stealthy.

Once she finished crossing the street, he left out the breath he was holding. To be honest, he had to admit that he was a bit nervous.
After it, the rest of the group crossed the street without any incident. As Aleen thought, the zombies didn’t find anything strange despite having eight people cross the street. Aleen was sure that, if the other party would have been human, they definitively would have noticed something strange.
‘It’s as if they are sleeping…’
Aleen could see the expressions of relief on the faces of the group. Even the white-collar woman, who had been trembling nervously from the start of the game, recovered a bit of color.
“Thanks to God, thanks to God.” She repeated softly.
However, as Murphy’s law says, anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
Though they could not see it from their position, a zombie was hiding inside the building where they hid.
Like the zombies outside, this zombie was in a hibernating-like state; so, it didn’t detect when the group first entered the building.
However, when the woman spoke, it immediately opened its eyes wide.
Rotten blood flowed through its veins, activating its dormant body when it heard the sound of its prey. Then, before the group could notice anything, it opened its mouth.
And with a shrill sound, it screamed.
“EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!”
Then, it rushed to the group.
