《Dimensional Paradise》Chapter 26 – Raid (2)

“I'm only going to take my race's fifteen level one. The humans will only be a hindrance when tracing the monsters.” Wulf said before taking fifteen level one and departing, all wolfkin.
“Me too.” Cir gestured with his hand to the group of level one and fifteen kinals walked towards him. Once he organized them, he departed. “I will use the COM if I see something strange.”
Around seventy level one remained, all humans. Caira observed them before sighing in resignation.
“Such bad luck. Well, we can take thirty five each. What do you say?”
“No need.” D’vina answered. “I will only take fifteen. You are a mage, so you need them more than me.”
“Heh… Very well, I will not reject your offer. You all! Fifty five of you will come with me! Now, hurry up!”
The humans were still nervous facing this situation, but when they heard Caira, one of them quickly protested.
“And who are you to order us!? You better send me back home now or my family will kill you!”
“Oh? Elvila, did you explain to them the situation?”
“I did teacher, but it’s obvious that some of them are too foolish to understand that I’m not lying.” She replied aphetically.
“Is it so? You see, I have the perfect method to make them understand.” After saying it, Caira waved his hand.
“Do you hear me!?” The young man shouted angrily. “My family will search for me and they will find you! You better se– AaAAAaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!”
Pure white flames wrapped the young man’s body making him cry in pain. The humans on the surroundings cried in fear and smell of ammonia spread in the surroundings. Some girls began to cry and shout frantically, but then, the level five woman shouted.

“Shut up!”
Immediately, each human closed their mouths. Some girls made an effort to suppress their sobs while carrying expressions of fear.
In a few seconds, the young man became ashes.
Aleen saw all it with an expression of astonishment. He wanted to shout, to stop the woman; but the pressure coming from D’vina stopped him. He could only see the scene without doing anything.
“Anyone else has an objection!?” The woman asked with a slight sadistic smile. “If not then hurry up! I need fifty five of you, now! Oh, I forgot, it's fifty four now; the other is dead.”
Fifty five people quickly ran towards Caira. She simply looked towards the scene coldly, and when they were complete, she turned and ordered.
“Let’s go!”
The humans quickly began to walk following the woman. While she was leaving, Caira turned briefly towards D’vina and waved her hand.
“I’m going miss D’vina, I will communicate through the COM if something comes up. By the way, you better train your assistant more. I hate when someone looks to me like that.”
D’vina simply grunted in answer.
When Caira was gone D’vina released the pressure in Aleen and spoke coldly.
“Did you remember my rules, boy?”
“… Yes.” He answered depressedly.
“Then tell me, what was my fourth rule!?” she asked again, this time clearly enraged.
Aleen thought for a moment before answering.
“... Your words are the law and I must obey your orders without question.”
“Is it so? But I remember giving you two orders! I told you to stay put and I signaled you to shut up! What were you going to do if I don’t suppress your movements?!”
“… Sorry.”
Aleen knew that she was right, but he was not able to control his emotions back then. When he saw the woman burning the young man mercilessly, he felt rage.

But in the end, D’vina was right. If he attacks the woman, he probably would have ended just like the young man, dead.
D’vina sighed seeing the expression on Aleen’s face but continued regardless.
“I can understand you, Aleen; but you must understand that as my assistant, your actions are my actions. This world is a cruel one, and you cannot do anything to change it. Your better concentrate in following my orders and surviving and don’t make me regret the decision of choosing you as my assistant.”
Aleen clenched his teeth before nodding his head.
D’vina then looked towards the remaining humans trembling in fear and ordered coldly.
“Let’s go. We already lost too much time here.”
With these words, the group of seventeen departed.
Twenty minutes later, the group of seventeen was running through the reddish forest.
D’vina had reduced her pace to accommodate the fifteen level one, but most of them were already tired. Because of it, she decided to stop briefly.
“You have one minute.”
The humans quickly collapsed and tried to recover their stamina the most possible. Meanwhile, D’vina walked towards Aleen.
Aleen was wearing a dark expression from the moment the group departed, but he tried to smile when he saw D’vina walking towards him. She simply sighed and motioned him to come over and sit beside her.
“Are you still thinking about it?”
Aleen simply nodded his head slightly.
“I understand, but you better forget about it. Hear me, Aleen, you can't protect each earthling in this game, so you better spend your energy trying to help me and protecting yourself. As for them, you can at most lend a hand; the rest depends on themselves.”
Aleen hesitated slightly before nodding. Then, he looked towards D’vina and opened his mouth.
“Can I make a question?”
D’vina nodded briefly.
“Why did you help me? It’s probably not so simple to get an assistant, right? But you helped me making me your assistant. I cannot understand the reason though.”
“it’s simple.” D’vina answered while making a rare smile. “I avoided death in the last game thanks to you. I’m simply repaying it.”
Aleen made a surprised expression before shaking his head.
“I was only helping myself. Besides, you would have revived even if you died.”
“It did not matter. Besides, though getting an assistant has certain disadvantages, I can bear them easily.”
Aleen simply nodded hearing it. Then, he muttered something softly.
“Thanks.”
D’vina simply smiled before nodding.
“You are welcome.”
While the group was resting, a creature was observing them hungrily.
It was a scorpion-like monster but without the pincers and the tail. It had a strong-looking carapace and three pairs of scythe-like claws. Its body was two meters long and filled with small needles below the carapace. It was crouching silently, observing the humans and waiting for the best opportunity to catch a meal.
Then, it noticed that a human separated from the group.
It was a young woman, around twenty years old. She left the group briefly to relieve herself without knowing that a monster was observing her.
While she was crouching, the creature closed the distance silently. It was pretty fast despite the lack of noise, and ten seconds later, it was just behind the girl.
The girl, however, seemed to feel something at that moment; because just before the beast could pounce, she turned around and saw the monster opening its mouth.
Then, she left out a scream.
“Ahhhhhh!”
And blood flowed from her body.

Avine, the name recorded in the oldest records of faith concerning the creation of the world. The lands of Avine are in turmoil. A lengthy war recently ended. Largely sheltered from prejudice by her parents Serin and Arwaro, she grew up in a kingdom that prospered thanks to its strictly neutral policy. But the winds of war are once more on the horizon. Reality caught up with me, this means I have to scale back my writing time considerably. I promise to finish it, but it will be in pieces, and likely around holidays. As always, any -painful- errors (spelling, flow, consistency or time) please let me know.
