《Private Academy System》Chapter 40: First faculty

After having a peaceful sleep, Ensen woke up to a blue box floating in front of him.
Slowly rubbing his eyes so he could see better, he read the message.
[A few Faculty applications have been delivered to me.]
Looking at the message in confusion for a few moments from his brain still mostly asleep, he finally understood what the system meant.
Forcing himself out of bed, Ensen knew that he needed to wake up. As such, he decided to have breakfast first to make sure he could think straight.
Slowly changing clothes, he soon made it to the kitchen.
Wanting to quickly wake himself up, Ensen found some instant coffee stashed in the back of one of his cupboards.
Ensen didn’t particularly like instant coffee, it was more of an emergency method to use whenever he needed to go somewhere quick.
Slowly brewing the coffee, he also quickly made himself some toast and spread a layer of peanut butter on top.
Afterward, Ensen walked towards the little dining table and began to eat slowly.
Taking a sip of his coffee, Ensen did his best to hold back the disgust on his face. He bought it a few years ago, and while it was still fine to drink it had an odd taste to it.
Unable to hold back his disgust any further, Ensen wore a scowl as he continued to finish both his coffee and toast.
Walking towards the couch, Ensen felt himself wide awake after the trauma with the coffee.
‘Luckily I didn’t die from that.’ He thought to himself, obviously overreacting.
Sitting on the couch, Ensen readied himself as he said out loud “Okay, I’m ready. Let’s see the applications.”
A few moments later a big blue box appeared with a large scroll bar on the right.
Laid out directly on the page on the right-hand side in front of him was a picture rather old man, most likely in his 50s or 60s with bright purple hair.
With an odd expression, Ensen asked “Why does he have bright purple hair? Did he dye it?”
[That is incorrect, it is completely natural.]
“Huh? How is that natural? Are you tricking me?” Ensen asked with a suspicious tone.
[How dare you accuse the Supreme Academy System!]
Immediately after, all of the blue boxes disappeared.

Looking around in confusement, Ensen thought to himself ‘Is it having another tantrum? It really does act like a child sometimes.’
Knowing that he needed to keep things as short as he could, Ensen simply decided to apologize.
“Hey… I’m sorry Supreme Academy System. You’re the best system of them all!” Ensen said loudly while looking around the room randomly.
A few moments passed before a blue box slowly faded into existence.
[Do you mean it?]
‘What is going on? I swear this system has multiple personalities.’ Ensen thought to himself.
“Of course I mean it. You’re a supreme system! The mightiest system ever!” Ensen said in praise.
[But most systems hate me because I don’t raise powerful hosts.] The system wrote timidly.
‘Oh, well, that does make sense. I mean compared to the Supreme Empress System and similar ones. It does definitely seem lacking at first glance. But in reality, I think that it definitely deserves to be up there.’ Ensen thought.
“You help raise many powerful people with your host. It’s only natural you’d be super powerful. How do the rankings work anyways?” Ensen praised to try to get the system to explain a bit more about its people.
[Rankings are based on how large of an impact the systems have on the universe. But… nevermind, let’s continue with the applications.] The system wrote, not wanting to continue the conversation.
‘Wow, looks like it has a weird sort of imposter syndrome maybe? Well, it’s not something I can fix in one day, so it’s right. I should continue with the applications.’ Ensen thought, slightly more interesting about how the system’s society actually functioned.
Slowly the blue box for the application faded back into existence.
Turning his attention to it, Ensen read the application carefully in its entirety.
[Name: Gerhardt Gwyn]
[System: The Poem Writing System]
[Qualifications: Renown poem writer]
[About me: I am 23 years old and was given my system at the age of 17. I was born to a commoner family and…]
[Why apply: I was offered a large number of points by my system for teaching students.]
[Other information: If accepted I will be commuting from my home universe daily so no accommodations will be required.]
“Damn that’s a cool name,” Ensen muttered under his breath.

‘So the poem system seems like he could be useful for English. Wait does he know English?” Ensen pondered before asking the system.
[The faculty members will be granted a temporary understanding of the English language while they are at the academy. However, after they either resign or leave the academy, this information will be taken back.]
Not really understanding the reasoning behind taking the knowledge back, Ensen nodded and reread the about me section. Everything seemed fine when he realized something.
“Wait how he is 23? He looks 100!” Ensen yelled, looking at the picture on the right side of the screen once again.
[How rude. Don’t assume all humans are the same. Just because you are both classified under the same race doesn’t mean that you are one and the same. They are many minor differences between both of you biologically. Take your hair for example, while pink hair does not naturally appear on humans on planet earth it is not the same for other humans.] The system retorted.
‘Oh that makes sense, it’s more of a sort of classification for similar species then. Such as monkeys refer to a group of species because there are many different species of monkeys.’ Ensen thought to himself, quickly understanding what the system had explained.
After having his mind blown that the applicant wanted to commute from his universe to the academy daily, Ensen moved on to the next applicant.
Scrolling through all of the possible applicants, Ensen counted around 10 in total.
“How many faculty members can I have right now?” Ensen asked the system, as it would heavily influence his decisions.
[You may have a total of two faculty members at this time. However, since you are counted as a faculty member, you may only hire one person from this pool of applicants.]
Somewhat expecting the heavy limit on faculty, Ensen simply nodded in understanding. There were quite a bit of applicants that stood out to him that he would love to hire, though.
“Can I hire these people whenever?” Ensen asked.
[Applications remain for a week before they are rejected. Afterward, the host can choose whether they would like to reapply or not.]
Slightly disappointed that he may lose most of the applicants, Ensen wasted no time on considering who he should pick. He could teach both piano and math so anybody who applied with those as their main aspects was quickly ruled out.
After a few minutes, Ensen had finally narrowed it down to two individuals. Either the first applicant, Gerhardt Gwyn, or the seventh applicant.
[Name: Lilyana Foxe]
[System: The Agility System]
[Qualifications: Top-level sports athlete]
[About me: Hey! I’m 19 years old, and I’m applying because of...]
[Why apply: There was nobody that could beat me, so I got bored and now I’m here.]
It was quite the choice he had to make. A renowned poet or the top athlete in a world.
Both had their obvious advantages as well as their disadvantages.
After thinking a little more, Ensen finally decided on Gerhardt Gwyn. There were numerous reasons for this. Foremost, he would take care of his own accommodations. While it was uncertain of Lilyana would do the same, he didn’t have enough money to take the risk. There was also the fact that Sport talents are extremely rare within the area, this is mainly because of the sheer number of scouts Littlewood has around to scoop up any talent.
Plus due to the elite institution perk, they must be great talents who would be hard to find.
While she would definitely be more useful in the future, a great English teacher would be a must for now.
Silently praying that she would keep reapplying, Ensen confirmed his choice of choosing Gerhardt Gwyn.
[Gerhardt Gwyn has been selected as the next faculty member and has been promptly notified.]
Satisfied with his choice, Ensen knew that he had to head back out scouting for the day to try to fill up the remaining spaces.
‘Who knows, maybe one of the potential students will call me later on.’ Ensen thought to himself while thinking about where to head today.
He had already visited most of the popular places yesterday, and while he could go to the same places today it would be rather inefficient as it would still have the same general people around there.
‘Well, I’ll figure it out.’ Ensen thought as he walked towards the door.

The 48 Laws of Power in Practice
Discover how power works in the world, through true stories and real-world applications. In the game of power, we all play - as either conscious or unconscious players. So we can't afford not to know the rules. The ** chapters have the most outrageous content. In each chapter, I will be summarizing one of the laws and how it can be applied to current events and pop culture. Some of you have told me the stories are what you enjoy the most. They are real, raw, and anonymous so that others may learn from my mistakes. There will be cringe-worthy stories of self-sabotage, but perhaps also some unlikely triumphs. Some of the details are changed to protect the innocent, (or perhaps guilty). "The 48 Laws of Power" by Robert Greene illustrates truths about power, through philosophy and lessons from three thousand years of history, which still hold true today. There is a lot to learn from each chapter. I encourage you to go on this journey with me by reflecting on how each law might apply to you. Together, may we learn from the past and take control of the future.
