Chapter 38 – The Night Before the Ritual
It was already night, And Aiden was sitting in the courtyard of his house.
After the youth of Heavens’ Net left, Aiden and Lia inspected every one of the boxes he brought and confirmed if everything was there.
Like the old man promised, every one of the materials Aiden asked were gotten successfully.
Aiden even found some materials with even better quality than he expected, causing he appreciate even more the help that the old man gave.
Though he wasn’t sure, Aiden thought that the value of all the things the youth brought was even higher than the estimate, so he could only be grateful towards the old man for his help.
Even though the old man was a bit eccentric and Aiden could not trust him completely, Aiden had to accept that the help the old man had given during the last two years was very great. Not just it, even now Aiden didn’t find any trace of bad will from him.
To be sincere, he wasn’t completely sure about the reason because the old man treated he so well; but for someone like Aiden, that was practically abandoned form the day when he lost his spirit, the help that the old man gave despite knowing about his situation was considered a great kindness.
Thinking about it now, that old man was one of the people that helped him the most from that day.
Aiden could not help but smile wryly knowing that one of his greatest benefactors was literally the boss of an underground organization located in a rural town.
At the end, he must remember this kindness and try to repay it if there is an opportunity in the future.
Sitting in the courtyard of the house where him and Lia had been living from two years ago, Aiden could not help but have such complicated thoughts.

The pair decided to realize the ritual in the afternoon of the next day. After all, it was necessary for both of them to complete all the different preparations necessaries to guaranty that everything goes well.
Aiden also needed a bit of time to organize his thoughts. Knowing that the thing that him always dreamed was so near put a great pressure in his shoulders. Aiden could feel the fear of failing attacking his mind with every thought that appeared in his head.
No matter how confident he always appeared, the truth was that Aiden was actually very fearful of failing. After all, nobody knew better than him the difficulty of cultivating without a spirit, and it was easy to deduce that creating one must be even harder.
At the end, Aiden and Lia were only working based in the different conjectures they reached after analyzing the process where Lia got her second spirit, and they were not completely sure if it could work. Hell, even now it was clear that said experiment left serious sequels in Lia’s mind.
Thinking about all it, Aiden felt the fear of failure coming even closer to him, like a beast prepared to devour him. The feeling was scarily overwhelming.
“But you don’t need to fear it, young master.” Spoke a voice from behind him.
“Because if there’s someone able of being successful in the creation of a spirit, I think that it is young master. Young master, I believe in you. Even if nobody else does, even if it looks impossible, I believe you will eventually succeed.” At some point, Lia appeared behind him silently.
Apparently feeling the mental state of her young master, Lia walked behind his back and hugged Aiden softly. Then, with a confident smile in her face, she continued speaking.

“I believe in you, young master. Even if tomorrow it fails, I believe that you will eventually find the right answer. So, what if the world think that it is impossible for someone create his own spirit? I believe that you will create one.
“So, don’t worry young master, because I will be with you. When you fail, when you want to give up, I will be here, giving you the support that you need.
“And if fate want for you to fail, then I will be sure of walking that fate with you, after all, I don’t mind living together until old.
“After all, I decided that day that I will always be with you.
“No matter what happens, I will be with you.
“Even if you decided to give up, I will be with you.
“And when the day for you to die comes, I hope to be with you too.
“So, what is there to fear, young master?”
For a moment, Aiden felt his vision becoming blurry.
Even though he tried to suppress it, tears began to form in his eyes after hearing Lia’s words.
Feeling the warm of the arms around his body, Aiden made a crying smile and closed his eyes.
Who would have imagined that the girl he saved that day for pity would end becoming the pillar supporting him?
Three years go, he decided to rescue a girl from a group of men. Today, the same girl was hugging him and saying that everything was going to be alright.
During the last three years, it was Lia who help Aiden to escape from the nightmare that was the loss of his spirit.
Unexpectedly, in the process of saving a girl even more hurt than him, he finished saving himself.
Aiden could only think that fate was truly strange.
Who knows, perhaps Lia was the compensation that the world gave him after losing his spirit.
Lost in his thoughts, Aiden smiled wryly while feeling the heartbeats of the girl behind him.
“Do you know Lia?” Spoke him. “There is something that I have never said you.”
Pausing for a moment, Aiden raised his face and turned to look towards the girl behind him.
“I’m truly happy of meeting you. Do you know? I’m truly fortunate of meeting someone so incredible like you that year.
“But precisely for it, I could not afford to fail.
“You told me that you don’t care if I give up, but I care about it.
“Because, how can I to be worthy of you otherwise?
“If I want to be able to help you in the future, I must be stronger.
“Because the one I love is you, I must create my spirit even more.
“So, when the day comes, I can stay besides you.”
Lia could not help but blush completely after hearing his words.
Feeling something sweet in her heart, she looked towards his black eyes and with a happy face, she nodded.
Aiden could not help but smile after seeing it, then looking towards the soft pink lips in her face, very slowly, he neared his face.
Then, before Lia could react, he kissed her.
The pair felt the world around them to stop for an instant.

And considering even Death itself didn't stop him, he pities whoever gets in his way. ================== Tags: Naruto, Reincarnation, OC, eventual multi-cross. ================== Author's (Brief) Note: Back by popular demand. This was my first significant fanfic (and fic in general). I wasn't happy with the writing as time went on, and took it down, but years later am still getting requests to put it back up so I guess some people liked it. Newly re-released as I finish some minor editing, there are about 100,000 words (~360 RRL pages) already written, so releases should be fast until I catch up with the backlog. That said, it may languish in hiatus at that point if the interest isn't high enough to merit continuing, so if you're the type to only read finished stories (or ones where the author promises to do so), I am very specifically not promising that. On the other hand, if enough people read, like, review, comment, rate, etc. then it will get added to my writing schedule. Generally, the character is based on a “how badass could someone who hasn't done ridiculously crazy shit be? Or, how does someone with the potential, in another setting, with a lot of luck, to be a badass act and develop as a modern, productive member of society? And then how would they deal with the Naruto-verse?” Please, please do not judge my writing by this. Unless you really like it, in which case fine, do, but recognize my other writing is likely better (unless it’s that one MTG/ASoIaF/SW fic I did over on SB as a speed-writing experiment, which is also pretty terrible).

To Sleep, Perchance to Dream
Dying was unpleasant, but coming back to life? How was that even possible? And what are these words that keep appearing before me? This...isn't how life works. Maybe I'm insane. I guess it's time to find out. If I die, will I come back again? Thanks for reading! Please leave a rating or a review! Knowing people are enjoying the story really encourages me to write more. Also, I apologize for the typos. When I get the time, I'll go back and fix them, but they may linger at times. I don't have lots of time for writing, so I'm not always able to do much editing before posting.
