Chapter 31 – The Most Powerful Flame in the World (I)

A beautiful girl was walking in the streets of the border city of Cali.

With her pair of green eyes combined with a long dress of the same color, the girl emitted a warm beauty different from normal. Her fair skin and soft smile gave the impression of being easy to approach, making the eyes of many young men turn towards her.

Though her beauty could not be described like stunning, anybody would think of a soft flower after seeing her. And with her warm temperament, she released a kind of beauty different from normal women.

Only her hair was a bit strange, with a pure white color like winter snow. But it only served to add a touch of exoticism to her beauty.

Behind her, someone was walking attentively with a hood covering his face. Though it was impossible to know his exacts features, everybody thought of him being a servant following his miss in a stroll.

The pair was of course Lia and Aiden.

Because of the current situation in the town, Aiden and Lia decided to go out in these outfits so to avoid earning unnecessary attention. And though their current dressing certainly attracted attention, Aiden thought that it was better than taking the risk of him being discovered.

Currently, they were going to Heavens’ Net. Following Lia’s suggestion from yesterday, they decided that it was better obtain more detailed information about the situation. And in this town, there was not a better place to acquire information than the rundown shop of that old man.

The pair was very careful during the way, after all, many more people entering at the town from yesterday. Aiden even heard about flying ships and a prince of the empire appearing, though he was not sure about what so certain was such information.

Walking in the streets of Cali, the pair of master and servant kept silent in the path towards Heavens’ Net.

Once there, the pair proceeded with the normal procedure and descended the stairs until the dark room where the old man was.

Apparently, the room was currently being occupied, because when the pair reached they were unable of entering immediately.

After waiting for around five minutes, the door of the room was opened, and a girl exited the place elegantly.

Seeing the appearance of the girl, Aiden was secretly surprised. After all, it was the same silver haired girl that helped him during the commotion of yesterday.

The girl looked briefly towards Aiden and Lia with a cold expression before nodding and continuing her way. Lia, courteously, nodded back and entered to the room with Aiden in town.

Once inside, Aiden felt Lia pinching his waist slightly. Looking towards her surprised, he saw a pouting expression as if complaining about him paying attention at another girl.

Smiling wryly, Aiden reassured Lia holding her hand and the pair proceeded to continue.

Looking towards the room, the pair saw the normal old man being illuminated for the candle as normal. The old man, seeing them enter, smiled ironically before speaking in a joking tone.

“It looks like you changed the roles of master and servant this time.”

Frowning deeply, Aiden took off the hood revealing his face, then, like normally, sat in the chair with Lia standing behind him.

The old man laughed loudly towards their actions before looking Lia and speaking. “Haha, it looks like you are so devoted like ever, little girl.”

Lia frowned hearing the old man and opened her mouth to answer, but Aiden raised his hand indicating for her stop, knowing well about the impression she had about the old man.

Looking towards the old man, Aiden calmly opened his mouth and explained directly the reason of his visit.

“Old man, I think you can imagine why we are here. I need information about the reason because so many cultivators had appeared around. I can see that many of them come from prominent backgrounds, so the reason for their presence here must be important.”

The old man smiled mysteriously and raised his hand signaling his five fingers before speaking: “That information is a bit sensitive… Mmm, in consideration at our friendship I will give it to you for only five times the price of normal information. What you said?”

Aiden and Lia furrowed their brows hearing that number. Lia tried speaking again but Aiden interrupter her taking a group of gold coins from his pouch and putting it in the table.

“Explain everything.”

“Very well.” Assenting, the old man taking the money from the table. “Then let’s begin.”

“Do you know about the Supreme Emptiness Flame?”

Aiden hesitated slightly but at the end replied. “Though I’m not completely sure, I heard it’s one kind of flame birthed from heaven and earth. Supposedly, it left the place where it always was and now everybody is searching for its whereabouts.”

“You are not wrong.” Nodded the old man. “But not completely right either.”

“Allow me to explain.”

“From time in time, the world gives birth at certain powerful treasures. Such treasures contain traces of strange and mysterious laws and normally come in the form of flames, ices, thunders etc.

“Powerful peoples search for such treasures with the purpose of forging or fusing with them and trying learn their laws. Normally, people with fire attribute spirit or techniques seek flames and people with the ice attribute seek ices, etc.

“The thing is, such treasures are not easy to get. Many times, the treasure ends eating the practitioners when they try to fuse with it. For such reason, only the most confident try fuse with it. And though they can be used without fusing with it, it also contains its risks.

“Of course, such thing didn’t diminish the number of people lusting after them, so every time news of one of such treasures appears, a commotion is produced in the spirit world.

“And the Supreme Emptiness Flame is the strongest of such treasures.”

The old man verified for a moment that the pair was paying attention, then, confirming it, he continued.

“According the legends, the Supreme Emptiness Flame had protected the world during long before the spirit era. It had always been at the center of the continent atop the highest mountain, burning without stop and generating order. Apparently, it possesses the powers of every single law of the world, making of it the dreamed treasure of every cultivator.

“But though everybody knew about it, nobody was able to obtain the flame. It was because the Supreme Emptiness Flame was too powerful for even spirits emperors take it. At the end, the spirit users of the world reached to the conclusion that nobody would be able to take the flame with exception of spirit gods cultivators spoken in legends.

“Everybody thought that things would continue like it, until five years ago.”

“That day, the Supreme Emptiness Flame mysteriously shattered.”
