(Yarm P.O.V)
‘This was the one who killed Renco and Dragh… he slaughtered them like animals and then ate them. I should kill it!!! This creature doesn’t deserve to exist!’. I began to look around until I found one of the unbroken spears and I walked back to the infernal creature. Tears filled my eyes just from looking at it. I was angry at it, ‘if it hadn’t killed my friends than I wouldn’t have had to run away from Carn. Instead, we all could live together and have then found another Kobolt tribe. After that, we would be able to live happily among other Kobolts… instead I am alone’. Lifting the spear up, my weak arms trembled. Then I pushed down on its head, again and again. But I wasn’t strong enough.
Walking away I began to cry. There was nothing I could do to kill this monster. I just wanted revenge, I wanted someone to help me. ‘Red Furs were not created to do this… instead, we were made to pray. So that is what I should do’. Standing up I went and found sticks, creating a pile near the monster. Then I found fire stones, I could never tell what they were made of, but I could still recognize them.Fire stones were what we priests used to pray to the fire god. The fire stones were bright red, clear crystals that always created sparks when struck together. So I stood next to the pile of sticks and began to speak my prayer. “Oh god of fire, maker of the eternal flame. Please grant me a savor… someone to keep me safe. I ask this of you so please heed my wish”.
After finishing the prayer I smashed the fire stones together, then did it two more times in the hope of the fire god hearing my prayer. I did not expect what happened next. A bright fire erupted from the pile of sticks. The fire was much bigger than what it should have been, almost the same size as me when the pile of sticks was very small.
Then the fire began to move, it caught on the tail of the infernal monster. Slowly the flames covered its entire body. “YES, YES, YES!!! The god of fire is so kind to me… thank you!”. I wish that I hadn’t said those words. Slowly words began to become visible. French words. Written in the flames, were the words Sauveur. “You must be playing a cruel joke on my god of fire… you are telling me that he is my Savior?”. This time the words were showed to me in English, the god of fire said yes.

After that I felt tears well up, I wanted this thing dead. Not for me to depend on it. With one swift movement, all of the fire funneled into a single scale on the damn lizard. I felt like I could hear the fire god laughing in my face about this entire situation. I sighed, noting that now the lizard had a single red scale on its chest… this was going to be a horrible journey.
(Back to Glen)
I awoke much later in the day. It was actually around midnight when I woke up. My mind was still fuzzy from a long sleep. ‘W-what is going on? Why am I alive when there was a Kobolt infro-KOBOLT’. My mind snapped awake when I saw the Kobolt. It was brushing out its fur with a poorly made comb. I quickly tried to stand up, but I realized that my legs were tied together with some sort of vine. Surprisingly the Kobolt was also smart enough to have tied my mouth together. ‘Son of a…’. The Kobolt looked over at me and smiled evilly. ‘I am going to kill it as soon as I get out of these… right, STATUS’.
(Name: Glen
Level – 3
Biomass - 29
Skills: Rapid Development lvl (P), Roar lvl 4, Pain Resistance lvl 2 (+)
Physical Aspects: Small Horn lvl 1 (+), Weak Hide lvl 1 (+), Weak Scales lvl 2 (+), Claws lvl 1 (+)
Mutations: System lvl 2, ??? lvl 1, Smoke Breath lvl 1 (+) )
‘Pain Resistance… I hope that I will not have to use that very much. Either way… what the fuck? System when did I get the question marks and smoke breath?”. The system responded to me a second later. [You received both skills ten hours ago. Both were received from $#%^*#$#*&]. ‘Well I should consider myself lucky for that I got both of those mutations for free. Weird though, I guess those Goblins were worth more than the smaller ones. Hey system, show me the shop’.
I almost regretted asking to look through the shop. The screen appeared in front of me with too many skills and mutations to even bother listing. After looking for long enough I found three that were discounted. The three that were discounted were as follows. Gigantism, Heat Scales and lastly Small wings. Gigantism would let me grow 5% larger than I was right now at any moment, but it cost seventy biomass. Heated scales would heat up my scales, a great mutation for defense and would let me get free from my current situation but it cost me fifty biomass. Meanwhile, Small Wings spoke for itself but I still didn’t have enough.

While I had been thinking about all of this, the Kobolt had walked over to me. In its hands were berries, strange as that was she set them down in front of me. Then the Kobolt went and grabbed one of the goblins spears. Opening my eyes wide I began to kick and flail around. ‘Crap this Kobolt is putting food in front of me, then it is going to kill me, cruel, cruel creature!‘. After my several seconds of flailing the Kobolt put its hand on my side.
My mind seemed to be forcibly relaxed as I felt something warm on my chest. It slowly spread through the rest of my body. This feels weird… but relaxing. The vine around my mouth was cut right before the Kobolt jumped far back. It seemed to be muttering things, but it just sounded like growling to me. Opening my jaw I felt a sense of confusion. ‘Why didn’t it just kill me? Now I am interested in this thing… wouldn't it get stronger from eating me? Or perhaps I am the only one who gains biomass’.
I tried to chew on the berries infront of me, but they tasted awful so I spat them out. I wasn’t that hungry, after eating all those goblins anyways. [I would like to inform you that you can collect part of the rewards from partial completion of the main quest: Find the Kobolts. The rest of the rewards will still be available when you finish the rest]. ‘Yes please’. Quickly I looked at my status screen and found another 25 biomass ‘what th- don’t question it Glen… just accept it… ok, System how much of the reward did I get?’. [You got roughly 83% of the total reward]. That made far more sense to me than the half I had assumed. Now that I had so much biomass I could escape from this.
Moving to the shop, I bought heat scales. A flood of information entered my mind. I felt like I was surrounded by liquid. It was nice and warm, like a hug surrounding me or being near a fire. This new feeling was something that I would call it mana but it felt different from how I thought mana felt. I will still call it mana until a better name becomes present. I then moved on to the step for heating my scales. Slowly I began to become as focused as possible. The energy seeped into my scales, raising their temperature. As I continued to do this I could hear a small sizzle. Once all of that energy was gone I opened my eyes. Looking down I noticed that I had burned through the strong vines. I got up and looked around. ‘Aight, where is this Kobolt prick!!!’.
Looking around though, I saw another Kobolt, a very large one missing an ear. ‘Just who I was going to look for after this. Maybe tubby wants a round two’. Something odd happened right after, the large Kobolt slapped the small red one. ‘Oi, that is my job’. For some reason, the idea that these Kobolts might kill each other instead of me doing the job infuriated me.
I growled loudly at the two Kobolts. The big one started to walk towards me, a club in its hand. Taking in a deep breath I felt my lungs heat up than I let out another roar and a puff of dark black smoke. Like what I expected the Kobolt took a step back, before running right at me. It raised its club and tried to hit me but I jumped out of its way. ‘Got it, big boy is getting harder to scare… I should end this quick to avoid injuries’.
After thinking of that I felt tings of pain from every point in my body that had been stabbed. Pain resistance was doing a good job but if I kept this up I was going to pass out again. I was lucky that all of my bones were intact though.
With a strong jump, I got on the back of the Kobolt. Then I proceeded to tear at the back of its neck. The Kobolt dropped its club and started trying to claw me off but I kept tearing. One bite tore through the hide, the second took the flesh and lastly a swipe of my claw shredded its spinal core.
The big Kobolt fell, right on top of me. ‘Crap Crap Crap’. I began to try and squirm around as fast as possible. I didn’t want to be captured again and I couldn’t even see anything due to being under a giant Kobolt. A minute later I felt something grab my feet and start to pull me. ‘Oh god, the Kobolt has grabbed me… calm down you can just slash it up’.
[Main Quest Complete. Find the Kobolts: Reward 5 biomass]. It was a strange time for the system to tell me that the quest is finished. I understood it a little more though after what happened next. The red Kobolt had pulled me out. "Thank you abomination... please don't eat me". Those words sounded like honey to my ears. Information flooded my mind in the matter of a few seconds. [Bonus reward: Kobolt/Goblin language]. I then spoke, not in English but in growls and grunts. "I won't... yet".
