《Surviving this world with a broken meta!》Chapter 7: Guild HQ

---------------------------------------------
After the commotion at the first floor in Guild HQ, Shin and the girls were brought to a room. It had a neat ambience on it. In the center was a long wooden table with several chairs in it that were probably for dining purposes, or where the Guild meetings were held. On the corner, two flags stood while crossing each other. One was the Official flag of the City and the other was the Guild flag. Whereas in the deeper part of the room was an office desk. Sitting on it, was the old man who Shin and the girls met earlier.
“Sorry for the rudeness of one of my subordinates.” The old man bowed and continued, “I am Theodore De Burghs Baltazar, the Guild Master. Please to meet you.”
“Please to meet you too. I’m Taiyoun Shin, sorry for the commotion earlier.”
“H-hello. I am Yuffa Strauss.”
“Hi uncles. I am Tanya Facururi”
“Hohoho~” Theodore nodded with a smile while caressing his beard.
Shin greeted the old man curtly, while Yuffa had a difficult expression. Tanya, on the other hand, was showing a pure smile that was very different from when she entered the building. Theodore’s outward appearance had a quite friendly aura that might cause Tanya to not be so scared.
Shin looked at the old man with curiosity. He had a friendly face, yet one cannot deny the fact that he wasn’t someone to be messed with. Contrary to the western Europe-like setting that Shin had described, Theodore was wearing something that resembled a black kimono. Since his chest was slightly exposed, his rippling muscles were visible. Despite his age, Theodore had a fairly large stature.
“That was quite the spectacle you showed me earlier.” Said Theodore.
“Huh…Sorry for breaking your wall.”
“No, no. it’s okay. In exchange, I did get to witness something incredible.”
“Yeah I agree. I never thought a man that big could fly like a plane.” said Shin with a small laugh.
“Hmm…?What plane?” Theodore didn’t understand what Shin just said. Airplanes haven’t been invented in this age yet after all.
“It’s nothing. What do you mean by incredible Guild master?”
“Oh no. You can call me Albert or Albert-san. It feels stiff when someone calls me Guild Master.”
“Okay. So what did you mean?”
“You managed to both summon a weapon as well as release magic, in a split second, didn’t you?” Theodore interrogated Shin with a serious face.
“Yes, and?” Shin answered in a care free manner.
“Don’t play innocent with me boy. Did you just use [Spatial Magic]?”
“[Spatial Magic]? What’s that?”
“You didn’t know?” Theodore was quite taken back how Shin didn’t know his skill.
He continues.
“I don’t know if you’re playing with me or you really don’t know what it is. Spatial Magic was a lost magic over a thousand years ago. When the first invasion of the Demons came, our hero used that kind of skill to stop the war from escalating. He appeared out of nowhere and used a strange magic that summoned a mushroom-like object out of thin air, and then ate it. After consuming, he became very much larger and taller as he stomped the enemy mercilessly.Coincidentally, your magic resembles it, but on a different degree.”
As Theodore finished his story, he looked at Shin who was silent like he was thinking of something.
Wait, if I came here and have skills as the last character I played, then the past hero must’ve played…

“Hahahahahaha!~ Oh god, my sides hurt! Ahahahaha!”
“Eh...What? What’s the matter Shin-sama?!”
“Shin onii-chan?”
“H-huh? What so funny boy?”
Everyone was baffled at Shin’s sudden outburst of uncontrolled laughter that was strange for someone of his character. Theodore looked at him strangely, like he didn’t know what to do, while Yuffa and Tanya looked at him worriedly.
“Sorry, sorry. I just thought of something funny… so why was this Spatial Magic so rare?” Tears were on Shin’s eyes as a result of the boisterous laughter. Even though he was suppressing his sides while trying not to laugh, he still asked something important.
“Boy…Have you been living in the mountain? You seriously don’t know anything about magic?”
“Eh? Uhh…S-sort of. Aha-ahaha...” Shin put his hands on the back of his head and showed a wry smile. He can’t casually say where he came from. Even he did, no one would probably believe him.
Theodore looked at him like he was someone suspicious. He looked at his expression but lets out a sigh.
“Fine then. I’ll explain it to you. Spatial Magic is very unusual; you can even call it special magic. Why you ask? It’s because each person can only wield magic that corresponds to their natural element such as Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. Meaning, one can only use a single element as their magic affinity. There are those special people that can wield 2 elements but they are in the minority.”
“Such as you Theodore-san?” Shin interjected as he smiles.
“How’d you know?”
“I don’t. It’s just a wild guess. Being a Guild Master must require a strong special person so, you know”
“Oh. Haha, you got me there, boy.” replied Theodore amused.
“So, based on your story, Spatial Magic defies the common knowledge of Magic?”
“Exactly. That magic has no dependence on any other element. Not just that magic, but after many years of living in this world, I have encountered many people with abnormalities, such as yours. The only thing that was well-established fact was that demons wield special magic. In fact, almost all of them have. We still lack information on that matter, or what might be useful against demon race that has unknown magic.”
“Good thing M*rio saved you all.”
“Mario?” Theodore tilted his head unable to understand what Shin said.
“No. it’s nothing.”
“You say some strange things boy.”
“Haha. Do I? So anyway, it seems we’ve gone off topic.”
“It seems we have. So, you want to apply for an adventurer?”
For a while now, Yuffa and Tanya were standing on the corner of the room, waiting for Shin to finish his business. They talked for quite a while, causing Tanya to start yawning repeatedly. So, Yuffa carried her in her arms to help her fall asleep.
Shin looked in their direction and pondered for a while, and then he decided.
“Can you make it three?”
“Hmm? You also want to register those girls?”
“Ehh??! Shin-sama??”
“Yuffa one-chaan?”
Hearing the content of their conversation, Yuffa shouted in surprisewhile causing the sleeping Tanya in her arms to wake up.
“S-shin-sama? What do you mean by that?”
“Huh? Isn’t it natural for you to be an adventurer too?”
“Including Tanya?”
“Yeah, Whynot?”
“U-um, aside from the fact that I can’t fight, isn’t it quite dangerous?”
Oops! I haven’t thought of that.
He was somewhat careless of his decision. Being an adventurer that is always surrounded by constant danger, might result to Tanya being hurt. Bringing her along might be a bad idea, but the reason why Shin wanted to bring her along, was because she just can’t leave her alone. He can’t just entrust her to some stranger, not to mention they don’t know anyone in this city.

Shin wasn’t sure of something, so he asked Theodore,
“Theodore-san, there is a party system, right?”
“Yes, why do you ask?”
“How do we form a party?”
“W-wait Shin-sama...”
Shin turned around and looked at Yuffa as she stopped him from talking further.
“I-I’m really thankful for all the things that you’ve done for us,and I’m really happy to be an adventurer too, but I think that bringing along Tanya[] might put an extra burden on you.”
Hmmm…
Her concerns are the same as his. Even though what she said is right, somehow, Shin had a feeling that it’s not really a big deal. His baseless confidence couldn’t be justified, and he also couldn’t put it into words, but he really felt like it posed no problem.
Because Shin couldn’t explain it, he patted Yuffa on the shoulders and said to her with a broad smile on his face:
“I don’t know how to say this, but don’t worry Yuffa. No matter what it takes… you two will be my priority, okay?”
*Poof*
“Yuffa? What‘s wrong?”
After Shin said those words, Yuffa was looking on the floor for no reason, so Shin shook her shoulders and asked curiously. But she only said “It’s nothing”. Still hanging down her head.
“But your ears are red. Are you feeling sick?” Added Shin.
“Oh, quite the opposite boy.” Theodore answered off-handedly.
Shin was clueless about the meaning of what Theodore said, so he didn’t pursue the matter anymore.
“About the party system, can I ask for more information about it?”
“Sure. But first, take this.”
Theodore handed each of them a semi transparent card.
The three of them looked at it curiously.
“These are?” asked Shin.
“That is an identification card in this Guild. Put your right thumb on the circle in the center and say your name.”
As Theodore instructed, the three of them touched the card. Afterwards, the card glowed with a tiny blue light and displayed the statuses on each of them.
Name:Taiyoun Shin
Lv. 9
Race: Human
Class: Human Arsenal(Legendary)
Guild Rank:
F
Name:Yuffa Strauss
Lv. --
Race: Human
Class:
Guild Rank:
F
?
Naturally, Tanya wasn’t given a card because her age was inappropriate. Sending a little girl to fight would be barbaric. That concept exists only in the anime back in Japan where Shin lived.
Shin peeked at the card Yuffa was holding, he observed that aside from the name and race, no other information is found. That means starting now… would be the first herexperience as an adventurer.
I’ve got to try harder if I want to protect these girls.
“About the party system you were asking about, it’s actually very simple. Just decide who will be the party leader. If you already have, then the party members will presenttheir Guild cards to the leader. The party leader will submit the cards here to be recognized as an official party, to start sharing experience and Guild ranking points together. Daily Quests or Special Quests greatly add points in order to rank up in Guild Rank. Guild Rank is divided into 7 tiers such as F, E,D,C,B,A, and S. Rank F is the lowest rank and SSS+ is the highest. F is given to new recruits and can only accept rank E quest and F only. The higher the rank, the higher the rewards. One last thing is that each rank is separated between higher and lower tier of the ranks, hence F-, F, and F+.”
Theodore explained the important information in one go, but Shin still have one question left.
“Yuffadoesn’t have class yet. Where or how can she apply to get it?”
“Oh. You don’t know about the class system either? But do you have one, don’t you?”
“Yeah?”
“How you obtained it was the answer.”
“I don’t know. I’m not sure…Maybe by default?”
“Well it’s not that hard to explain how anyways...”
Shin couldn’t say that it was given by a God. He doesn’t plan on showing his Guild card either, because the word (Legendary) was in there. The meaning behind that word might raise some questions that could trouble him in some ways. He intended to hide the fact that he came from an alternate world. It’s really for the benefit of all, especially for his hope that his time here in this world would be smooth sailing.
But if Shin wanted to form a party with the girls, he really needs to present his Guild card to Theodore. He can only wish for Theodore to overlook that one particular detail.
Breaking out of his thoughts, Theodore continued,
“About the class system, one should choose a weapon first. They will use it as a tool to level up.When they do, information regarding the Skill of that weapon would naturally be instilled to their minds after they level up. It’s really that simple.”
“Hooohh~ So Yuffa, what’s your weapon of choice?”
“E-eh…? Um...Umm...”
Since she was asked suddenly and didn’t really think about it before now, she was indecisive. The sleeping Tanya on her chest moved a bit because of her sudden action.
Can’t blame her. I kind of forced her into this.
Shin felt apologetic, but he also felt it was necessary.
“How about you think about it after we go back to inn?”
“Y-yes!”
Shin presented his Guild card together with Yuffa’s to Theodore. He received it and took out a scroll in his desk drawer as he wrote something on it. Afterwards, he gave it to Shin and extended his arms. Shin took it and shook his hand.
Theodore smiled and nods in agreement and spoke.
“Welcome to the Guild.”
“It’s our pleasure. I’ll be in your care from now on.”
“Please take care of us.”
“…m…meaaatt…zzzzz”
Shin replied curtly and smiled. Yuffa bowed while Tanya laid her head on Yuffa’s chest while mumbling in her sleep.
“Then, please excuse us Theodore-san.”
“Excuse us.”
“Uhn.” Theodor nodded.
The sound of footsteps resounded as Shin and Yuffa descended from the second floor, and everyone looked at them reflexively. Some are still visibly shaken from the earlier fight before.
In his peripheral vision, he saw the man whom he hit was still on the wall, while the people tried really hard to pull him out.
I hope he’s not dead.
If Shin knew the extent of his power, he could’ve used his bare hands. But oh well, it was the other guy’s fault anyways.
With that thought, Shin and the girls walked out from the Guild HQ.
