Bunch of things happened and here we are in a pure white place devoid of nothing but a single ordinary desk and a chair.

Sitting on it is a bespectacled old man maybe in between 60-70 of age clad in a butler suit.

While on the floor lies a boy unconscious.

“Geheh..hehehe.. d-don’t pick my nose like that.. heh-ehehe…ssshhh….zzzzzz~~”

Muttering incomprehensible things in his sleep, the boy lets out a creepy smile then goes back in his sleep letting out peaceful breaths.

A vein popped in the old man’s temple who is observing the boy in his desk while resting his chin with his hands.

The old man has been observing the boy sleeping for about 5 hours now. He is letting the boy rest after he had summoned him.

His foot has been shaking uncontrollably. Impatience is very clear in his face.

That’s it!

The old man in his last straw after hearing the boy’s endless sleep talking, took an empty tin can from who knows where and throws it straight into the boys idiotic face.

*bonk!*

It hit him right on his forehead.

It was quite the throw that the hard sleeping boy finally opened his eyes.

“…. Mom please, don’t wake me up like that. it’s annoying…”

 Still half-asleep, the boy rubbed his belly with an annoyed face. He thought he was still in his room.

But a loud shout waked him up.

“How long will keep on sleeping?! This isn’t your house!”

“Eh.. eh?? Wh-where am i?”

The boy named Shin looked all over the room.

It is devoid of nothing.

It is pure white without anything decorated except for the ordinary table and chair used by the old man.

“Looks like you are fully awake.” Says the old man.

“Where am I old man?” shin looked at the old man with a worried face.

“Did you forget? You died due to hunger. “

“Oh. Hehe. I died didn’t i?” Smiling, he replied while scratching the back of his head.

The old man look at him with half-open eyes.

“Hoh~ not only you’re annoying one but also odd.”

“I do get that a lot. It’s nothing new really”

It’s not surprising though. A lot of his friends find him sometimes annoying because of his carefree attitude. Like I don’t care about this world attitude.

The old man continued.

“What makes you odd is you readily accepted the situation you are in.”

“Well, there is nothing I could do about it so fussing over it won’t change anything.”

“Hmm.”

The old man nods in affirmation.

To him, this attitude is rare for someone who just died.

All those people who have met him have various reactions towards the fact but all of them have one reaction in common, fear.

Naturally, the old man looks at him in interest.

“So, what now old man? am I going to heaven or hell?”

Shin spoke breaking the old man’s thoughts.

“Hmm. We don’t always have this deal. We only offer it to people who have SPECIAL circumstances. Also, don’t call me old man. My name is peter. I am the messenger that sends anyone to heaven or on the other world if deemed worthy.”

“The way your tone of the word special feels somewhat irritating but go on.”

Peter intentionally raised his voice when he said the word special indicating he has other meaning to it so Shin easily have seen through it.

Brushing it off, peter continued.

“Well then. This might take a while. You see, there are two worlds that all of you didn’t know. Originally, there is only one but the high heavens created a parallel world different from the original. And that is the world that you are living in. it is be—“

“Wait..”

Shin interjected

“You mean the world, or the earth that I am living in isn’t the original world but the other one?”

“Yes. The original world that have been created consist of everything very opposite to your world. It has magic and everything that you will find on earthly novel fictions. Different races like demons, demi-humans, elves and etc coexist. An ideal world to live in or so the high heavens thought.”

Peter showed a grim look like he just remembered something horrible. It was only fleeting and he decided to continue.

Shin noticed his expression but decided to keep quiet.

“The high heavens thought mixing together all race was ideal. All is well at first; the peace lasted for centuries until one race decided to step further outside their boundaries. It resulted to conflict and escalated to war. Even though the high heavens created that world, they can’t just intervene easily. They don’t know heaven existed so popping out like a zit would worsen the situation. It was so chaotic that they have decided to create a parallel world with no magic with only the same race, and that is your world ”

Listening attentively to peter, shin showed a rare a serious look and spoke while rubbing his jaw.

“A zit, huh? I don’t have one but looking at someone having that… I bet they find it annoying too.”

Idiot. Peter mumbled with hand of his face.

“That is not the point here!” Peter wanted to rebuke but he’s too tired to do so.

“Sigh. Anyways, as you know it ended in conflict, it escalated to a total war. It continued for a long time but ended up in a stalemate. Some races formed an alliance in order for both parties to have a bond and mutual protection. The peace they have right now is like a sand castle, very fragile. It’ll only take time for some wave to destroy it. And that is where you come in.”

“Eh? What? Come in where? Sorry I was distracted. Why a butler suit?”

Shin has been curious as to why the peter wears a butler suit the whole time so he voiced his concerns.

Another vein popped into peter’s temple.

“Don’t make me regret for deciding to offer you a deal. If you don’t take this seriously, I would really love to reincarnate you as a bacteria somewhere in Jupiter. Also, butler outfit is fashionable”

Hearing the threat peter just said, Shin broke into a cold sweat and unconsciously swallowed saliva. He never thought of it as an empty threat considering peter has a high rank in heaven.

He decided to stop pissing him off.

 “Aha- ahaha. I-i was just joking. I get the gist of it. You want me to be some sort of a peacemaker, is that it?”

“Huh? What are you talking about? Don’t get carried away boy.”

Peter looked at him like he was an idiot which he is.

“Naturally going from your story, you want me do something about it, right?”

“Nahh. That was just a setting to fire up the mood.”

“Say whaaat?! So all of it was made up?”

Peter stayed silent for a while and then bursted into laughter.

“Hahaha!... oh my sides is hurting. Phew. Jokes on you boy!”

Shin’s jaw dropped.

“Now you take this seriously this time! You damn old geezer!”

Still holding his side to suppress his laughter, peter speaks.

“..You should have seen your face. Eherm. You are right. We need you to do something about it. We don’t need you to be a hero or something. we just want you to alleviate the situation. Put balance into things. That’s all.”

“Huh. And how do I suppose to do that? My physical test results were even below average. I get easily exhausted just by running 15 meters. And you ask me do something about it? Also why me?”

“Alright. Calm down now. We perfectly know how useless you are in society.”

“Oy. You say mean things for someone holy.” said shin grudgingly.

“Truth hurts. More importantly, it’s not like we will send you as is. As you know, the other world has magic right? Then by that logic, we will augment you cast magic on your own. But not the same magic commonly used in that world. Yours will be unique.”

“Hoh~ very interesting. Like what exactly?” He couldn’t hide his excitement. He showed a rather evil grin.

“Hmmm. How about the skills of the last character you played before you died will be yours, how about it?”

Jing! Something just triggered on Shin’s head.”

“Wow! You can do that?! It’s a bit broken. But i.. accept!”

*grins*

Somehow I got the feeling this is a bad idea. Said peter in the back of his mind.

“Ok. It’s settled then? You will have that power after you wake up in a different world. In addition, you can have this.”

Peter handed Shin a gold ring with a wing-shaped red stone embedded in it.

In an instant, shin backed away from peter with an exaggerated facial expression.

“Stop it there old man. I don’t swing that way!”

“You idiot! This is not a wedding ring! This ring will provide its user immunity to all negative effects. Do you want it or not?”

Shin immediately took the ring off in peter’s palm and put it in his pointing fingers. He was amazed on how the ring adjusted itself by the size of the wearer’s fingers.

“It’s nice. So, how what now?”

Taking off white gloves from his pocket, peter wore it in both of his hands.

“Come closer. Straighten your stance then clench your teeth as hard as you can”

Doubtful, Shin did peter exactly how he instructed.

But now that he think about it.

“Wait. You don’t mean---Bugrh!”

He didn’t even finish his words.

A strong right dug into his stomach.

“That’ right. This is the quick way to make someone sleep.”

“Y-you.. damn old geezer! …..”

Shin collapsed in peter’s arms.

He put him gently and whispers.

“Sorry about that boy. We have faith in you. Please be safe.”

As shin lets out peaceful sighs, peter thrust his arms out gushing with magic and moments later, Shin’s entire body disappeared.

“Good luck boy” Mumbled peter as a parting words.
