《The Wandering God》Chapter 16 : Wei Yi's righteousness [ edited ]

Note : The chapter name actually has a play of words in chinese. Wei Yi's [ 韋義 ] Yi actually meant righteousness. There's a footnote too at the end of the chapter.
Within the spans of moments, these men had already thrown themselves out of the caravan. All of them running towards the great wide plains.
At the north of the plains lies a fairly large city called Glusemburg. Since Glusemburg is located very close to the Mythical Beast Forest, lots of capable warriors and mages resides there before going to venture. Not to mention the battle-hardened city guards who are a cut above compared to a normal city guard who do not need to deal with the occasional beast raid.
But even then, a beast raid at this size is a truly rare scene. It may cause a big damage to the city if they were attacked with a horde of this size, but of course they couldn't care less about that. They were more worried about the distance between them and the city.
Although it was only a 2 days journey with a caravan at normal speed and a distance like that are usually called ‘ just a short distance away ‘ in the Floating Cloud Continent, right now Glusemburg seemed like it was a thousand of kilometers away from them and all of them were practically cursing why the city couldn't be any nearer.
In the middle of that chaos, there was someone who hadn't escape from the caravan. It was a lone placid man who had just stepped a foot outside when he suddenly stopped in his tracks, his head turned back to look inside the caravan with eyes full of hesitation.
His name is Wei Yi. As he was a newbie, he was the lowest ranked amongst them and his strength was one of the lowest one too. Therefore, while the others had hurriedly scrammed away through the doors, Wei Yi had to wait for his turn to exit.
After a split moment of hesitation, eventually he gritted his teeth and ran back inside.
Ah damn it, at least if I die here then I would be able to die with my head held high. I have already soiled the name my mother gave me by doing this job, at least in my death I would be true to my name Wei Yi*
At that point, someone noticed him heading back inside and looked over in a worry.
“ Wei Yi! What are you doing?! Hurry up or you'll die! “ The man screamed at him.
Wei Yi turned his head to the man shouting from a distance away.
It was a fellow newbie he had friended with in his job as a bandit. Since they were both the only newbies in the group, much of the menial tasks were left for them to do and they quickly bonded to become good friends in the past few weeks.
His name was You Longchang*. Don't mistake it though, despite his name, he is a very cowardly person who is terrified of death.
You Longchang is more or less a good friend and a good person, he was one of the few people along with Wei Yi that did not took part in engaging their carnal pleasures on the women. He is forced to become a bandit because of similar circumstances with Wei Yi.
“ Longchang, y...you go on ahead! There are still people inside, I have to help them! “ Wei Yi said after a brief moment of contemplation.
Longchang looked on at the disappearing Wei Yi with a conflicted look, eventually he sighed and shouted remorsefully. “ Aiee Wei Yi you crazy kid, I can only blame myself for having a crazy friend like you! “

Even if he said all those words, his feet had already rushed back towards the caravan at full speed.
Seeing his friend running back to help him, Wei Yi’s heart felt a gush of warmth. To have a friend who is willing to die for you is indeed a great feeling!
Although You Longchang is a very cowardly person, he took care of his friends well and is very faithful to them.
The both of them hurriedly rushed inside and saw 6 naked women on the floor chained with locks, their eyes dead. These women had clearly heard what had happened from the bandits’ talk, in spite of that they had abandoned any hope to escape and leave anyway.
Firstly, they were completely sure that no matter how much they begged and pleaded, those men would have never bothered to spend their precious time running away to help them.
Secondly, they were not cultivators at all, just an ordinary mortal. They wouldn't be able to escape very far when the beasts arrived, bringing them along would only just drag down others too.
Lastly..they felt that dying..is probably a better way to end such a life. With those bandits around, they wouldn't be able to do a suicide. At least they don't have to go through such horrible experience anymore..
Wei Yi clearly understood the second point, the same goes for You Longchang.
But deep down in Wei Yi’s heart, he had always been someone who uphold righteousness. However, because of his sick mother, he had to bent down and do this kind of job.
Glancing at these women whose eyes seemed like they did not have a trace of life in it, Wei Yi’s expression immediately turned grim and full of self deception. He had been here all along, but all he could do was just to watch as these women were constantly violated by those men.
He briskly grabbed the keys and began to unlock the locks placed on a woman.
" ..What are you doing? " The woman glared at him. Even if Wei Yi had never done anything to her and the others, she had a downright bad impression of any of the bandits that captured her.
Wei Yi didn't answer her and instead continued to fiddle with the locks. He did not want to waste even a moment of time as every moment loss could count as them being a step further into the gates of afterlife.
Eventually, the locks are unlocked and Wei Yi hastily fiddled on another one.
The women who had just been freed looked at Wei Yi and You Longchang cautiously, but as time passed she eventually realized that...they do not have any hint of malice at all.
Actually, she knew that Wei Yi and You Longchang was more of a lackey towards the other men, but nonetheless towards them..she couldn't help but put her guard up.
" Why..are you doing this? “ she stared at Wei Yi with a blank expression. She did not understand why they are willing to do this.
“ Don't talk, quick help me out here and unlock the others! “ Wei Yi was not in the mood to answer her at all. In the first place, he saw that amongst the 6 women, she was the only one with a hint of life in her eyes.
The women also stopped asking, she knew how dire the circumstances are and helped unlocking the locks too.
With a click, all 6 of them are freed from the chains, they are truly free now and yet none of them are in a happy mood. They knew that with the upcoming beast horde, it would be hard for them to survive.

“ Alright Wei Yi, all of them are freed c'mon c'mon lets get going already! Which one of you couldn't walk? I’ll carry one of you and Wei Yi, you carry one too..wait, wait hey what..where are you going! “ Whilst You Longchang was busy chattering, Wei Yi had already stood up and ran towards the wagons at the back.
“ I'm going to free the people in the wagons! “ Wei Yi shouted, his voice trailing off in the air.
You Longchang became completely flabbergasted.
“ Damn it Wei Yi, are you seeking death?! “ Longchang just couldn't comprehend this friend of his. How did your brain work damnitt !
The people on the wagon are the one who would be sold as slaves by these bandits, most of them are women and children, there are only very few men amongst them. To escape with such a large group of women and kids? Dream on!
Longchang looked towards the women who were now wearing a simple cloth over them.
“ Dang it, Wei Yi oh Wei Yi, I will curse you everyday in our afterlife! The 6 of you hurry up and get away as far as you can! “ Tears streaming down his face, he got up and chased after Wei Yi. Apparently, he had already given up any hopes of living.
But contradictory to his expectations, all of the 6 women didn't run away and followed behind him.
“ What are you all doing?! “ Longchang looked at them like he was looking at a talking cat.
This father has traded his life away for you to live, why don't you leave damn it!
“ I cannot leave those people in the wagons here. “ The one Wei Yi saved first earlier on replied sternly, the others all nodded to in agreement but they did not talk, their eyes had more life in them now but they were still keeping their guards up with Wei Yi and Longchang.
You Longchang rolled his eyes in response.
looks like I am surrounded by people who are courting death eh!
Alright, here's the keys, there are two wagons that contains people in it. Go open the locks at the 3rd wagon, leave the other one to me and Wei Yi. Their bandit group are very cautious with the ‘goods’ they deliver because one escaped goods will mean their death if their boss founds out, therefore a lot of locks are placed in each wagon.
They say that when humans are pressed into an edge, sometimes they will be able to exclude a power beyond them. And this is can be proven by Wei Yi & co, they had actually managed to unlock all the locks at breakneck speed, all under the matter of seconds.
The people inside the wagon all stared at Wei Yi & co with a variety of looks. Some fear, others anger, surprise and much more.
All of them are locked inside the wagon earlier on, even if they were able to hear the sounds of the earth rumbling, they weren't able to identify what is causing it.
“ Hurry up and leave! A beast horde is coming! “ Wei Yi shouted shrilly.
Only then did they react and hastily stood up to leave. While they were escaping, some had even had the chance to send murderous glances towards Wei Yi and You Longchang.
Feeling their gazes, Wei Yi and You Longchang could only smile bitterly. It was, a very normal response after all.
But when all of them came out, their faces are writhed with despair all over. The beasts are now increasingly close to them, if they were all cultivators they might have a chance to live on, however reality is cruel. Most of them are ordinary mortals, with women and children amongst them, only with a miracle can all of them escape.
Wei Yi of course knew what they were thinking, but instead of being downhearted, he raised two small little girls and shouted.
“ Run! These beasts came here being attracted to something in the wagon, if their attentions are all on that thing then we might all have a chance to live if we run now! “
When the others heard Wei Yi, their ears perked up and their eyes gleamed with hope. They knew that the situation is still hopeless, but clearly even the most little of chance is a hope for them.
Just as they were about to start running away, suddenly..
“ Stop, you don't need to leave at all. Stay there and I will guarantee your safety. “ A voice came out of nowhere and rang in their ears.
Wei Yi and the others who heard it were immediately dumbfounded, they looked at each other and found out that all of them received the same message. They had clearly heard a voice ringing in their ears but they had no way to discern where this voice come from.
While the others were still in a state of confusion, Wei Yi began to tremble as his eyes scanned the surroundings.
The other people all looked at him with a confused expression.
“ This..this is a sound transmission! There is clearly no strong cultivator here in the vicinity and yet this sound transmission had managed to reach us..j-just what how strong is this expert?! “ Wei Yi exclaimed in surprise.
The other more knowledgeable people amongst them also turn wide eyed when they heard Wei Yi.
“ Are you saying that..that voice is a sound transmission? “ You Longchang eyed Wei Yi with an unbelieving look, the other knowledgeable people also looked at him but with untrusting eyes. How could they possibly trust the one who locked them up here? If it wasn't for their hands still chained by locks, perhaps they would've beaten them up already.
Seeing their looks, Wei Yi could only smile bitterly.
“ The truth is..I also don't know. But if it wasn't a sound transmission then what it is? That voice is sent directly to ours ears, and we don't posses a sound transmission talisman too, it must be a person who directly sent it to us. But I don't see such a person near us anywhere, for a sound transmission to be able to reach this far…it only tells just how powerful the person who sent it must be. “
The others all nodded their head in agreement, they too, had no other explanation to that voice.
Sound Transmissions are a method the people of Floating Cloud Continent communicate over long distances. But to be able to do that, one must either posses a sound transmission talisman first or one must be in the 3rd rank of cultivation.
But even then, the distance a 3rd rank cultivator could send is very short, they could only do it when they are standing close by to the target and when the target are in small numbers. For a sound transmission to reach such a terrifying range...they are not able to comprehend just how powerful that person is.
“ What if it was the beasts who send that? “ One of the people exclaimed with glaring eyes.
Wei Yi shook his head in response.
“ These beasts are at most of the 3rd rank, some of them at the 4th. They are not able to send such a complicated sentence in human tongue, nor do they have the power to send it to all of us at the same time.
“ Then..what do we do? “ The women who Wei Yi freed the earliest asked him.
“ This..” Wei Yi clicked his tongue in contemplation..
* The 義 Yi here in Wei Yi’s [ 韋義 ] name means justice/ righteous .
*You Longchang’s [ 尤龍昌 ] name roughly translates to Outstanding Dragon & Prosperous.

Steamforged Sorcery [A Steampunk LitRPG]
This is a fantasy story in a steampunk setting, not a sci-fi. The Great War ravaged the face of the earth many years ago. In the years that passed, the world rebuilt, mixing machinery and magic to form something new. Great blimps took to the sky, belching steam and smoke as metal cities sprouted like weeds below. Angel, a talented mage, scours the desert endlessly in search of lost knowledge. When it unexpectedly falls into his hands, he quickly comes to realize that the world is far larger – and far more deadly – than he ever could have predicted. But no amount of danger is going to keep Angel from seeking out greater strength and traveling the world, claiming all the greatest treasure that it has to offer. To most, the desert is a dangerous threat to be feared. To Angel, it’s a land of opportunity, waiting to be exploited. Steamforged Sorcery is, as the title suggests, a LitRPG Steampunk story with heavy focus on magic and scenery. The main character starts out relatively strong (but far from overpowered) but will eventually grow in strength to incredible levels. It is moderately paced and does not progress at ridiculous speeds. Release Schedule: 1,500 words daily Monday-Friday

What do you wish for?
Norman hated his life. His peers ignored and bullied him. His mother nagged. His father was never home. Norman desperately wished for a miracle, but his prayers went unanswered. Until one night. **************************************** Note: This story is going to be very short. I would recommend reading it all at once. This story started out as a challenge I set for myself. I've recently felt bogged down because of the need to write more. That's why each chapter will be only 300 words long. Exactly 300 words long. At this point, I've pretty much written the whole thing, so I'm very confident that there will only be eight chapters.

Tur Briste
A Druid cultivation novel. Borrows concepts from Wuxia and Xianxia but using Druid myth and lore. More on this at the bottom. Crow is son of Maddox, a Druid with an ancient bloodline and a people with a story spanning toward the beginning of time. Cursed, unfated, and a heap of bad luck have brought him only pain and suffering, but nothing will stop him. Nothing can stop him. A son of Maddox doesn’t bow his head. A son of Maddox understands that only a man with roots, with something to lose, will fight until the last drop of blood leaves his body. The Draoidh were once a proud people. They were both respected and hated for their form of righteousness. Power wasn’t something they gained through the might of their arms, but through intelligence. Their fall was all the more disheartening for the weaker cultivators. The tens of thousands of years that followed… chaos reigned. They forced Draoidh until most fled to the lower realms, nearly wiped out and exhausted. They went into hiding and became known as the Druids of the Oak. The Druid Order wasn’t the powerhouse it had been, and only nine of the major clans survived the calamity. Their bloodline weakened, as well as their prestige. Even the remaining clans fought amongst each other. Already on the decline and near extinguished, the Maddox clan can only struggle for survival, but their foundation wasn’t a joke. Weakened, but not weak. The other clans will understand this difference soon enough. Tur Briste, the Shattered Tower, awaits Crow’s ascension. Reaching the upper realms is only the first step in reestablishing the Draoidh. The Druids of the Oak remembered every betrayal and grievance, and they’ll return to power and reclaim what once belonged to them. The upper realms may have forgotten, but the Druid Order has not. Please Note:1) This is harem story. There are only a few chapters with sex, and it’s not a focus of the story. I’ll only add graphic sex if I feel the story needs it, so not gratuitously. Either way, Crow has several women. This is in line with Druid/Celtic history, and harems/reverse harems were an accepted part of their culture. Further, they had open marriages, meaning the man or woman could end their marriage at any time. While it was still a patriarchy, women had almost equal power. They were a very progressive culture. 2) There is a period of a 30-50 chapters where Crow loses the ability to cultivate like a Druid so he adopts an eastern body cultivation method for a while. This is temporary, but some people feel it’s misleading, so I am pointing it out ahead of time. I promise, the Druid stuff comes back, and 90% of the lore/myths/creatures/gods are all related to Druid/Celt/Irish/Scottish history. 3) I use many original names, most of which are in Gaelic or Irish. In the story, I refer to this language as Ancient. I enjoy all kinds of folklore and myths, so I encourage you to google those original names as they arrive. I give some background on them at the end of the chapter in my author’s note. 4) I use Ogham runes a lot, these are like the Druid alphabet, and they based each rune on a sacred tree so they also have symbolism associated with them. Again, feel free to google that too. It’s pretty neat stuff. Quick Translations:Draoidh = DruidTur Briste = Shattered Tower or Broken Tower Release Schedule:As of Oct 1, 2021- 3 chapters released every Sunday (May have up to two bonus chapters)- Side character chapters… this might be bonus chapters I release through the week. So they won’t count toward the 3 chapters on Sunday.- Please understand I work full time, have two kids, and can’t spare as much time as I’d like toward my writing. Maybe in the future I can switch to doing this full time, but for now 3 chapters is a comfortable pace for me. Lastly… I very much appreciate all my readers and thank you for allowing me to entertain you!
