After thinking for about half a minute, Bob decided to tackle this situation like the brave man he was.
He would...
Play dead.
After all, he wasn't exactly the bravest man on the planet.
Going along with his plan, Bob rolled his eyes back and promptly fell to the floor with a thud.
He forgot that the floor was both
a) cold, and
b) hard.
He could still feel the stares of all present, as well as a sharp pain on the back of his head.
"How?"
One of the many spectators in the crowd the question that everyone was thinking of.
...Yes...
Maybe they would lose interest...
"How..."
Come on, look away, look away...
"How did he fall asleep so suddenly?!"
...
Maybe they would lose interest...
* * *
They didn't lose interest.
Instead, they brought Bob to a hospital.
Well, it seemed to be a hospital, but Bob couldn't be sure, as his eyes were closed and he was focused on keeping his breathing even.
Inhale...
And exhale.
Inhale...
And exhale.
Inhale...
And-
"This guy just saw the Azzipi tree, stopped for a moment, then yelled 'All of you are idiots!'"
Bob heard a blink.
Don't ask me how.
At this point, I'm just as confused as you are.
"Then he passed out like this, and now he seems to be pretending to be asleep."
So far, so good...
Maybe he would get out of this-
Wait.
Let me go back and...
and now he seems to be pretending to be asleep.
Oh, sh*t.
* * *
"Hey, you can stop pretending to be asleep now."
Inhale...
Exhale...
Inhale...
Exhale...
Maybe he would be convinced that Bob was actually asl-
"You're not fooling anybody, you know."
Bob slo o o o o o o owly opened an eye.

Then another.
Then a third.
Wait...
What?
Bob tried to look at his third eye.
Suprise!
He couldn't see it.
Bob frowned.
"Do I have three eyes?"
The man blinked.
"Not that I'm aware of."
Well, that's a relie-
"Are you drunk?"
"...No."
"Are you sure, man?"
"...Yes?"
"..."
"..."
"Hey, like, really, are you drunk?"
Bob thought for a moment.
Maybe the people here would stop bothering him if he claimed that he was drunk?
"Yeah..."
"I think I may be drunk."
The dude blinked.
"Oh."
"That makes..."
A lot of sense.
"...No sense at all."
Bob blinked his, thank the gods, 2 eyes.
"Wdym?"
"What?"
What kind of primitive language did they speak here?
"What do you mean?"
Bob sighed and repeated himself.
"Your breath smells like cheese azzipi, not alcohol, and if you were drunk enough to do what you did, you would be slurring all of your words."
Why couldn't the people here be dumber stupider less intellegent than Bob?
"Well, who are you to question, erm, I mean, whoooo aaaaare youuuuuuu tooooo queeeeeeestioooon aa druuuunnnnk mmannn onn wheeeethheeerrrr orrrr nooot heee's druuunk?"
"The guy who'll be leaving you here if you don't try to explain what really happened back there."
Bob gulped.
"Well, it all started with pizza..."

Plague Doctor
The once-bustling and noisy streets were now filled with an eerie blanket of silence. Hoarse and frenzied whispers lingered high above the heavens, and an indescribable ancient giant lurked in the shadows of the bottomless ocean. A mysterious plague had outbroken, and natural disasters wrought the Earth. Global pandemic and catastrophes had the panicked masses seeking illusory shelters from the devastation, day and night. A bloody shower poured over the land as the streaks of lightning tore across the sky, illuminating the ill-intentioned gathering of ravens above. Nevermore, nevermore, quoth the ravens. “We can see that this malformed creature has twelve pairs of ribs like humans, but also has a “transverse bone” that humans do not possess…” In the medical school, Gu Jun continued bringing down his scalpel, illustrating the abnormal thoracic structure of the malformed cadaver on the dissection table to the surrounding students. Ominous and treacherous times had descended! Truth and logic had crumbled, order warped into a frenzy. Humanity can only forge ahead through the power of intelligence and wisdom.

Ætla Verǫld
AV Online was just a flash in the pan—a harsh, experimental land which lost most of its players in mere weeks. Only the dedicated few remained, carving out their destinies in corners of the vast abandoned world. Lily Quinn wasn't one of them. With a career worth millions in the esports world, she didn't have time for a game like Avo—but when an exclusive beta test for the new version showed up on her doorstep, she couldn't say no… as much as she wanted to. Literally hooked into the simulation, Lily reluctantly entered a world beyond anything she'd ever dreamed of. Accompanied by seven other beta testers desperate to save their beloved game, Lily dives into a vibrant, beautiful world, where mystery and adventure waits around every corner. Despite her reservations, Lily finds a joyful escape in Avo, shattering her cold, hollow reality. It was just a game though… until the group discovered they couldn't log out. Trapped in a game with no rules, and surrounded by cutthroat players eager to kill for a quick windfall, Lily and her ragged band have no choice but to fight their way out, or die in a game that has turned all too real. Hi there! I'm setting off on yet another adventure, come join me :3 Unusually for me, there's only one perspective this time, and it's quite a bit more action-oriented than I usually write. Don't worry, though: everything's still as character-driven as always, and I never get tired of writing dialogue. Just to acknowledge it up front: this story is heavily inspired by EVE Online and the many stories generated by that world. However, since this is a fantasy setting, not sci-fi, don't expect any real parallels. Chapter publish rate for this one will be whenever I write them, as with Epilogue. I don't expect to move as fast here though, since it's not for NaNo. The plan is chapters somewhere in the 4k-5k range, and hopefully frequently. The Last Science takes priority as always though. Special thanks to Reaver and Ace Arriande for pushing me to get this going, and to all my fellow writers whom I've stolen from been inspired by. You're all wonderful people and I love you Quick reminder: Patrons get to read ahead of what's published! Also, try my other works: The Last Science — A Tale of Modern Magic Epilogue — A Post-Fantasy Psychodrama What are you still doing on the synopsis? Get to reading!
