《Modern Deity》Chapter 34: Breaking Reality

Hey! I didn't expect myself to write another chapter, and this one is 3500 words long! Holy crap! That's 1200 words longer than yesterday lol. I really went all out on this one. I'm not gonna spoil anything, but if you have questions you would like answered, I'll do my best. I couldn't think of a chapter title because too much happened. I still can't think of one. Oh well. :D Enjoy.
EDIT: I think I may have thought of a name.

Kyte immediately began to try to forcefully break the barrier between his Spirit energy and the black light. He waved his arm, causing the wind in the arena to pick up and surge around in several different waves. Although he forcefully healed himself, the pain hadn’t left him. For some reason, it was getting more intense the more he tried to break the black light. The large, golden ball within Kyte’s soul began to slightly shake from an unknown pressure.
Kyte looked through the dust cloud to see a blue light suddenly appear. He quickly jump to the right as the blue light completely destroyed the wall, crashing into the arena barrier. Kyte’s figure silently disappeared with the wind. A crimson energy, accompanied by a dark electricity, began to fuse with the wind.
Kyte released a wave of energy toward Jill as he appeared behind her. A wall of blue energy manifested from her sword, blocking the energy. Kyte’s attack was completely nullified and it didn’t even leave a scratch on her defense.
Suddenly, Jill’s figure flickered before completely disappearing. Kyte continually moved with the wind, however, he wasn’t able to find her. He felt an increasing amount of fear grip his heart as he moved to the utmost limit of his speed.
“Stop, running!”
A large wave of blue energy swept out in Kyte’s direction. It was incredibly fast as it caught one of Kyte’s legs and cleanly removed it from his body. Kyte continued to move around until he got back to his severed leg. He grabbed it and stuck back onto his body, which then completely healed within a second. Although it felt a little weird at first, the familiar feeling of his leg eventually returned.
A crescent wave of blue energy surged toward Kyte. It was too fast for him to dodge, and he couldn't do anything to defend himself. He instantly manifested black light in-front of him, creating a small wall to block the attack. The blue energy smashed into the wall of black light, which completely surprised Kyte. Usually anything that touches the black light passes through it like it isn’t even there, however, now it actually blocks an attack? An energy attack that isn’t even physical? He decided to try it, but for it to actually work?
The Hell is that supposed to mean…?
The blue energy flowed past the black light on either side of Kyte as it continually released a powerful pressure. The wind from the energy greatly ruffled Kyte’s hair and robes as it completely decimated the earth within its proximity. Kyte could feel the immense pressure being transmitted from the black light, and a small crack appeared in the middle. The energy quickly diminished until there was none left, however, a shadow enveloped Kyte’s figure.
He looked up to see Jill already bringing down her blade. Kyte quickly moved the black light above him to block her attack, however, it never came. Instead, a blast of energy came from behind him, directly impacting his back and shooting him forward. Kyte’s body smashed against the ground several times before he stabilized himself and rapidly healed himself. Kyte’s expression was full of pain as he swallowed down a mouthful of blood.

It keeps getting worse....The more injuries I take, the worse my internal state gets. My organs are gonna turn into meat paste unless I...go all out. She’s too fast though, I can’t even see her. An area effect attack would work, but that only thing that would injure her is the fire. I can’t control the output well enough to risk that. However, if it gets down to it…Stupid, black light, just fucking break!!
Kyte’s entire being was shaking from the pain and pressure. Every so often, his heartbeat would abnormally beat off rhythm and send even more pain signals across his body. The golden ball within Kyte’s soul began to crack as if it was going to be broken to pieces like a glass ball being destroyed by a sledge hammer.
Kyte immediately enveloped his whole body in black light. He made two holes for his eyes, but underneath the black light was a layer of crimson energy fused with the Iron Body technique. Although Kyte hadn’t mastered Iron Body, his defense was still significantly increased by using the skill. He also made room for his mouth for air.
Kyte’s primary attention was focused on the black light and his Spirit energy, and the actual fight was secondary. All he needed to accomplish was dodging, defending, and surviving Jill’s attacks. Kyte decided to go on full defensive during this time, so instead of moving, he stayed where his was. However, he greatly increased the thickness of the black light around him.
As Kyte was focusing on breaking the black light, he could feel powerful pounds across the black light surrounding him. Every time Jill would attack Kyte, he would be smashed into the ground even further.
“What the Hell are you doing?! Running and then hiding?! You’re such a coward!”
Jill’s sword suddenly released a beautiful light as she raised it above her head. Blue energy gathered around his word like water in a whirlpool. Eventually, a giant blade of energy that was ten times bigger than her normal sword was created. Its power bent and distorted the air as the light pierced the eyes of the audience.
“Prepare to receive my strongest attack. I pray you live to see the light of day.”
Jill furiously swung her arms down, and the large blade of energy descended upon Kyte’s sphere of black light energy. A blinding light illuminated everything as a deafening boom resounded throughout the entire stadium. The ground within a hundred meter radius of Jill’s impact with Kyte’s sphere was completely crushed and obliterated underneath the incredible pressure. Waves upon waves of energy were unleashed upon the surrounding space, and the air was visibly being torn apart.
Jill’s sword smashed Kyte’s sphere even further down into the ground as a gigantic crater was formed from the ravaged earth. Cracks spread out across the entire arena floor; the ground outside of the crater was ripped upward and distorted. It seemed like the entire arena floor was going to give way.
However, Kyte’s sphere of black light was still pulling through. Cracks were spread out across the whole sphere, however, nothing penetrated into the lowest layer. Within the sphere, Kyte was frantically trying to figure out the key. His body was ragged and blood filled the bottom of the sphere.
Fuck, I can’t even absorb my blood anymore. Why? Why?! I’ve tried everything, why the fuck isn’t it working!!! My soul is about to collapse and my body is already breaking down. The power I’ve held within me is going to burst out, completely destroying me….I....can’t die...I can’t…

Within Kyte’s soul, the large golden ball suddenly disintegrated into powder. Following that, a whole new level of pain spread through Kyte’s entire soul and body. It felt like he was being torn apart and burned with an intense, raging fire from the inside out. Blood gushed from his mouth as he involuntarily relaxed his muscles. Blood flowed from his eyes, nose, and ears. The skin on his body began to slowly slip off his red, bloody flesh. The hair on his head quickly began to fall down into the puddle of blood and dead skin beneath him.
I’m...dying...no...I...can’t. There...has...to...be.........----
Among the blood from his eyes, tears began to slip down and burn his already deteriorated flesh. The light of life in his eyes slowly faded until there was only a darkness that belonged to a shell.
The pressure exuded onto the sphere of black light disappeared. The sword in Jill’s hands dropped to the ground as Jill fell to her knees, completely exhausted. After several seconds, she struggled to her feet after placing the sword back in her hands. She looked at the center of the gigantic crater and was amazed at what she saw.
A black sphere with cracks all over it still remained after her strongest attack. It looked to be on the verge of collapse, as if just a tap would instantly shatter it. Everything was completely silent. Several seconds went by, and still nothing. The black sphere remained utterly motionless.
Jill looked at the balcony behind her, but all she got was a shake of a head. She looked back at the black sphere and proceeded to slowly walk toward it. It was about twenty meters away from her position, so she took a few seconds to breath before continuing toward it.
However, once she reached within thirty feet of the sphere, Jill suddenly felt a strange sensation around her body. It was as if a small amount of weight was suddenly lifted from her body. She felt around her body but discovered that nothing was wrong with it. She slowly continued forward, but with each step she continued to feel lighter and lighter.
When she was within ten feet, she felt like she weighed nothing. She took a step forward, unknowingly hitting a small rock next to her foot. She watched as the rock silently flew up, bounced off the black sphere, and slowly moved away from it. The farther it moved away from the sphere, the closer and faster it got to the ground.
"G-gravity control?..."
Jill suddenly thought of the White family in the Core, but she quickly discarded that thought. How could a member of the White family be here, in an Outer Sector without anyone knowing?
A dark figure appeared beside her. It grabbed her and disappeared from the arena, placing her at the Wux viewing balcony.
“M-Mr. Wux? What-” Jill started.
“Shh. You’re very valuable to Sector 31, I can’t have you dying on me. Zack, send an order down to the engineers: Increase the barrier’s defense to maximum. This is something that only with my personal help will the barrier be able to pull through while at maximum power.” David had a serious expression as he commanded Zack.
“Yes, sir.” Zack left after taking out his small tablet.
“Mr. Wux, what’s happening?”
“It’s too difficult to explain, just wat-”
Suddenly, the entire stadium began to shake. It started as a small rocking, but after several seconds the shaking became incredibly intense. Even the air began to visibly shake under the unknown pressure.
“My goodness...evacuate the audience immediately!” David shouted.
The shaking increased in intensity to the point where the entire stadium seemed about to be broken to pieces. An evacuation system had already been built within the stadium in case of serious situations. Each seat holds a certain amount of space beneath that allows the person to be moved far below the ground within seconds.
A visible wave of an invisible force swept outward from the black sphere. It passed through every single thing: the ground, the arena barrier, the stadium. However, the force wasn’t hurtful. Instead, it seemed to transform the area around the entire stadium into a zero-gravity zone. Pieces of rubble that were flung up from the ground were silently floating through the air. When they would bump into each other, they would silently bounce off into a different direction.
David and Jill could feel that the blood circulation in their bodies had been thrown off. They felt a bit of pain in their bones, especially their spines. It seemed as though they suddenly grew taller by an inch or two. The weirdness of these sensations made their minds go a little fuzzy, but David quickly refocused. He had never seen something so unusual and abnormal before in his entire life.
The black sphere slowly lifted up from the giant crater until it was above David’s and Jill’s heads. It no longer had cracks along its surface, and a mysterious feeling permeated out of it. It was as if the chains of authority had tied them to the ground, and all they could do was look up and watch.
Suddenly, the black sphere disappeared into the dark figure that was within it. As that happened, a whirlpool-like suction force was created around that dark figure. Sparks of electricity began to explode into existence around the figure as the space itself around it began to distort. Small cracks in reality began to form as a river of black light seeped through those cracks.
After several seconds, the area around the figure looked as if it was a clear but distorted sphere. The sphere was very large, probably with a diameter of twenty meters. Outside of the sphere were dozens of streams of electricity that would periodically flash with power. The electricity itself seemed to hold every known color, thus rendering it a deep black. Inside the sphere were three large cracks in reality. Each crack had a seemingly unending amount of black light that poured out of them. The figure in the center was completely black, as if it was that black light itself.
Within that figure was a small flicker of light. It was surrounded by black light, and several small streams of it were being absorbed by that small light. That small ember was Kyte’s the leftover of Kyte’s soul.
After the golden ball had disintegrated, Kyte thought he had died. Technically, he did. His physical body wasn’t able to sustain itself any longer. The pressure and energy it carried had destroyed it from the inside out. This process was greatly quickened by the battle with Jill, especially when she had used her strongest attack. By trying to break the black light with his Spirit energy, Kyte had completely exhausted himself until he could no longer take it.
As if it was on instinct, Kyte’s soul abandoned its physical body and receded deep into its own consciousness. There, it could do nothing as black light suddenly began to enter the upper levels of Kyte’s soul. There, it finally discovered what it had originally felt when Kyte had first gained the Inheritance from Sol’keer.
That time when Sol’keer first told Kyte about Spirit energy, Kyte had stated that he felt a different power within him. Kyte believed that power to be his Spirit energy; he was wrong. The small piece of Kyte’s soul, even after discovering this power, couldn’t understand what it was. It took the form of a black cloud, and it seemed to occupy its own individual space within Kyte’s deepest level of consciousness. When that small soul saw that black cloud, it instantly understood that this black cloud had been within him since the day he was conceived. It was created inside his tiny soul and had been slowly growing alongside Kyte.
The small soul tried to reach the black cloud, however, it was behind an impenetrable layer of subconsciousness. That small soul had no way of breaching through. However, when it “looked” back up and saw black light breaking through each level of consciousness, it felt a mix of emotions. Fear, hope, regret, relief. It didn’t know what to think of this black light that had invaded into its conscious.
Finally, the black light reached the final wall. That small soul was suddenly pulled through the last level and into the black cloud, as if it was protecting the soul. The black light smashed into the final wall, creating cracks along it.
Suddenly, the black cloud swirled into a dark figure.
“D̶҉o̧͟͡n't̸̡ ̢b͏e ̶̛ą̴͘f̴͞ŕ̡̀á̡i̕̕͡d̷̷͢.͘͞ ͠I҉ ̴̢a̸͘m̵͜ ͝y̨͏o̴u̶.”
A raspy and distorted voice spoke out directly to the small soul.
……
“R͜ela̛͢x̵͘ yo̧̕u͏́r̀̕͝s̀e͘͝lf̢̢͝.͞ ̛͝L̀ȩt͘ ̡t͏̡he͏͢͞ ͟͏V̶̶͢o̷i͟͏̢d ͘f͡l͏̡͘ow̴̴̡ ͝͠i͟͠ń͠t҉o͝ ͞͞y̶̛͢oư̵.̀.”

The small soul instantly relaxed itself onto the bottom of its consciousness. The black light broke the final wall. It was instantly attracted toward the black-cloud figure and the two of them were like opposing forces. The cloud figure reached out its hand and grabbed the black light, exerting a strange force upon it.
The cloud figure began to distort like a television glitch as it struggled with the black light. It reached out its other hand and tightly gripped the black light. Its figure began to heavily distort as black tendrils protruded out from the black light, wrapping around the cloud figure.
“Aͩ̂̽̚҉͈̫̗͇̥̮̭̯͢͢H͍̼̣͔͉̤̘̯͛͗ͩͅḨ̴̪̮̥͔͖̂͂̂H̴̢͉̹̟͇̮͑̐̉̆͞H͓̝̠̥ͦ̇̄̊̕H̷̻̻ͬ̿̉ͣͣ̔͂H̨̦̥̱̝̍ͧ͐ͯ̇̒͘Hͤ͂̐͂ͨ̎͂̚҉̺̦̺͚͎̗H̷̝͖͂̚͢ͅH̯̪̲̭̭̿͗ͭ̾̍̀̑̆͡H̬̞̗̜̦͕͉̬̾ͫ̄̋H̢̙̥̳͈̙̮̐͊ͬ͊ͩ͗̿!̷͕̗̬̯̟͍ͫ̉́͑ͧ̈ͦͦ!͊̐ͨ̄̊͌ͧ̀̕҉̭̺ !!”
The cloud figure started to scream in a greatly distorted voice as it crazily struggled against the black light.
Seeing this, the small soul suddenly had a flash of insight. It lept up from the bottom and flew above the cloud figure.
“Ẉ̸̺͌̈ͪ͒͑͑̾͒H̟̘̞̫̜͉͎̿ͫ̔̒̓̓ͬ̚͜A̶͈̤̺͖͆̄̋̓͆͗ͯT̞̯̉̂ͨͧ̆̂ͨ̋̚͜ ̢̹͉͔̹̪ͨ͋͞Ả̧̳͕͚̫̳͍̹͖ͪ̅̾̊͒ͥŔ̢̫͈̔͆̕͜E̷̺͍̪̦̳̤̭̽̽͂͑̉͛̆̚ ̯̣ͬ̽̌͂̚͘͢Y̫̭̖̗͎̙̋͂̓̓ͯͪ͞Ǫ͎̟̮̙̤̭ͣͧ̑̚U̧̲͈͙͎̭̘͕͓ͮ͋̆ͨ̅̽ͩ̌ ̤̯̞͍̠̬̹͈̾̓͛́̀̆̆̓ͮ͘ͅD̪̰̙͎̳ͭ͊̅͛͝ͅO̡̯̦̹̰̬͔͖͒̀ͦ̎̎̐ͮ̏ͅI̴̧̻̜͙͓̽̔͒͂ͣͨ͂͊͠N̛ͥ̂͛ͣ̀̚̕͏̻̤̠G̓̌͂̽̾ͫ͏͈̙̙̫͇̳͜ͅͅ?!”
The small soul then latched itself onto the cloud figure, intent on absorbing it for itself. It began trying to devour the black cloud as it began assimilating with it. The cloud figure, under the increased pressure, began to break down and be devoured by the small soul. A small hole opened in the middle of the small soul, sucking in the black cloud.

The small soul silently apologized, for this soul was going to follow down a path that he creates himself.

The black-cloud figure disappeared within the small soul, turning its color from white to grey. Then, without a force to hold the black light, it rushed into the hole in the soul. An unending amount of black light rushed into the deepest level of Kyte’s consciousness and into the small hole. The small soul unceasingly absorbed the black light, changing the color from grey to a deeper and deeper black. Not only that, but the black cloud and black light began to merge together, forming a new type of black corporeal energy.
The small soul began to dramatically increase in size the more black light it absorbed. After a full minute, it was already the original size it was before. After another minute, new walls of consciousness formed, allowing entry of the black light while also being reinforced by its power. After another, a golden ball appeared within the new and improved soul. It quickly grew in size as the ball itself began to absorb the black light. The golden ball started to go under a transformation as black light flooded into it. Instead of staying a golden color, it changed into a deep black. It seemed to transform into black light itself.
Kyte’s physical body began to quickly heal as his soul emerged from within the deepest level of consciousness. Within the cocoon of black light, Kyte’s Internal energy had skyrocketed and directly broke the barrier between the sixth stage and the seventh stage. His bones shone with a blinding light as they completely transformed into an entirely new material, which is called Heaven rock in Sol’keer’s universe. His skeleton was now a pure white color that shined with a brilliant radiance. That radiance increased the healing speed of his body by several folds.
The skin that grew upon his body was smooth like a baby’s, however, it’s resistance and defense was higher than steel. His muscles were broken down and new muscles appeared from within the bright radiance, accompanied by the black light, and wrapped around the entire skeleton. Kyte’s physical strength had increased by several folds. If he was able to lift a ten pound weight before, then now he can lift one hundred pounds. That means that, in comparison with his previous state, even a large truck going full speed, with cargo, wouldn’t be able to impede him in any way.
All of Kyte’s flesh was reformed and strengthened. The transformation he went through has never been seen before. It was mostly due to the fusing of the black cloud and black light within his deepest soul and consciousness, but even if that didn’t happen then he still would’ve been extremely powerful.
After about an hour, the transformation ended. A wave of invisible energy swept through the entire stadium, returning the space to its original state. The rocks in the air fell to the ground, the electricity quickly faded, and the sphere of spatial distortions disappeared. The only thing that was left was a figure covered in black light.
Looking at that figure, David was utterly dumbfounded. He had never seen such an occurrence before. Something like this was even unheard of in the Core. Someone’s increase in power causing large spatial distortions and causing a gigantic area to suddenly lose gravity? This was the first. Even members of the White family had never had something like this happen. Thomas White’s mutation had been eye-catching, but it was leagues below what had just happened.
Suddenly, the black light around the figure was sucked into its body. It was the same face, same body structure, however, everything about him was different. The aura he emitted in comparison to before was like a star in-front of a candle. However, there was one significant difference. Kyte’s hair before the transformation had noticeable streaks of blood-red in it. Now, his hair was completely black. It was the same color as the black light and it was almost mesmerizing. His whole figure had taken the breath away from anyone that was still watching. Except, now he was naked.
When David saw Kyte begin to fall, he was immediately brought back to reality and sped forward to catch Kyte. He landed on the ground with Kyte in his arms. He looked at his face and just silently sighed in amazement as he took off his outer jacket and put it around Kyte’s figure.
(If you guys want, I can put in parenthesis what the cloud-figure was saying. I know, it's hard to read but I wanted to show how distorted and mysterious it really was.)
