《The Bad Guy Always Wins》Chapter 2: Monster Fight

I’m in the front of the forest with my father. I have my Dagger of Darkness with me with leather armor. My father has a short sword and a normal dagger. I’m excited. I’m finally going to be able to fight real monsters. I check my status.

With my previous training I was able to upgrade my stats naturally. I haven’t used any of my points since birth and every level I gain I get 4 stat points. I’ve been saving it for a day like this.

I evened out my stats a little and upgraded my Dexterity with the rest of my points. Since I have this dagger I will focus on stealth if I can. Every point I have in Intelligence raises my regen .5 per minute. Now I regen 25 mana per minute. Although I don’t have any spells It might be useful in the future.
“Are you ready son?”
“Yes father.” I reply. When I said my first words yesterday I decided to stop being so quiet. My mom was so happy that I could actually talk she cried. Was it so weird for my first words to be at 3 years of age?
We walk into the forest. The trees cover the sun so it’s dark. I pull out my dagger making me nearly invisible. About 5 minutes into the forest we meet a slime. It’s back seems to be turned to us. I use Observe on the slime.

“Son, sneak behind it and continually attack. Do not stop attacking until it’s dead.”
I began to sneak towards the slime. I end up right behind it without it noticing me. I attack! I slash and it does 5 damage. The slime instantly turns around. It doesn’t have any eyes but there seems to be holes where the eyes should be. It doesn’t go all the way through but there’s small holes there.
It lunges at me with its whole body but I easily dodge. I turn back towards my father to see what’s he’s going to but he’s not there. I started to try and look around for him but before I could spot him the slime latches onto my arm. Nothing happens at first but then the pain starts. It agonizing! It feels like it’s melting my arm! Crap, it has acid properties! I start trying to slice at the slime parts that’s not fully connected to my arm. It takes 5 slices for the slime to finally die. The slime instantly falls off. I fall on my ass with a sigh of relief. I look at my arms but there’s no burns or injuries. It doesn’t even hurt anymore. I check my stats.

It took a solid 20 health points. Although it hurt it wasn’t really threatening. I stand back up to look for my father but from deeper into the forest 3 more slimes come come hopping into the distance. Fuck.
Before they could do anything I instantly run towards all three of them. Although they hurt they are no threat to my life. I should use this opportunity to gain experience. I’m about a foot away from the middle slime before I throw my dagger straight at him. It goes right between the eyes and the slime instantly falls to the ground. It seems like even slimes have a weak spot. Without a weapon I arrive right in front of slime #2 on the right and kick him. The slime gets sent into a tree but it cost me 5 points of HP. I continue and run past the third slime to pick up my dagger. I run to the kicked slime on the ground and stab my life in between its eyes. It dies instantly. There only one left. I walk towards the slime with my knife in hand. I go for the instant kill that I found.

That was my first real monster battle. I want more. I don’t know why but I want more. I start to walk deeper into the forest. I want more. Before I could leave too far from my starting point, something calls to me. I instantly stop walking. I lose control of my body and start to walk back towards the slime graveyard. I notice something new. It was 4 green floating orbs above all of the slimes corpses. I got to one of them. It’s calling to me. It needs me. I reach out to the orb. As soon as I touch the one orb all of them rushes towards my chest.
Obsorb First Soul! This monster will not respawn back into the world!
