“Ms. Evantula?” Mr. Keweg asked

“Here.” I raised my hand.

“Ah, you’re the new student, why don’t you introduce yourself?”

“Uh…sure.” Xan looked at me and laughed ‘go vanilla’ I saw him mouth.

“Uhm, I am Vanessa Evantula, I am 15, I am definitely not a girly-girl.” I laughed. The whole classed laughed a bit too.

“Thank you Vanessa” Mr. Keweg smiled.

“Now, today we are going to begin reading the book ‘To kill a mocking bird’

I raised my hand high.

“Yes Vanessa?”

“I do not have that book, I wasn’t informed that we were going to read it.”

“Oh, would anyone like to volunteer to sha-” he was interrupted by Xan “I would love too share with Vanil-Vanessa.”

“Okay Alexander, well class start reading chapters one through 4.”

“Wow Xan.”

“What? I can’t let you get taken away by anybody else.” He smirked

“Aww someone’s jealous..”

He rolled his eyes “cmon let’s read.”

After reading the book, we went up to Mr. Keweg “We’re finished.” Xan smiled innocently.

“Oh, well you two can go to the hall and chat or something until the bell rings.”

“Okay, thanks.” I smiled

We went of the room and sat down next to each other.

“So, wanna hang out at the park on Wednesday?”

“Sure, but I gotta ask my mom because the neighbors want to have a Bible study at 6”

“Ooo what religion are you?”

“Christian.” I said biting my lip

“Same! What church are you going to go too???” He beamed.

“Uhh the closest one I presume.”

“The closest one is the one I go too.” Hi smiled softly.

“Awesome, my mom said yes, but she wants to meet you.”

“Great!”

“Why’d you run up to me? And how’d you know my name? Ya know, when we met, like 2 hours ago?” I asked.

“Uhhh, I don’t know..” he lied

“I just met you and I already know when you lie.”

“Whatever..”

“How did you know me Xan?..”

“I didn’t, I just- I just wanted to know you.” He said shyly

“R-really?”

“Yeah….you looked interesting, who was the boy you were talking to?” He asked

“Ah, him, he’s my…boyfriend.” I grinned

“Really…? He’s a bit short.” Xan said trying not to be jealous

“Nah Xan he’s my brother, and he’s short because he’s 12.” I giggled.

“Oh- my bad.”

“Someone’s a bit jealous eh?” I smiled

“Yup.” He admitted.

“That’s cute.”

“So are you.”

I could swear that my face was as bright as a tomato at that point “u-hm”

“You okay?”

“Yeahhh-” just then the bell rang, ultimately saving the intense awkwardness between me and him.

“Ah- bye Xan.” I smiled

“Gimme a hug, i’ll be so bored without you.” He frowned

“Uh…okay…” i hesitated

He wrapped his arms around me and a light set off in my body. “Woah..” his eyes widened “did you feel that too?”

‘You mean the complete sensation of comfort right now?’ “I think so.” I smiled.

“Cya Vanilla!” He said while releasing me and walking away.

“Oh my Gooooooshhhh!!!!!” Some random girl came up to me and screeched in my ear.

“Um, what?” I raised my eyebrow.

“Are you and Alexander dating?!” She beamed a little too much.

“Uh no, we’re just friends, why you ask?” I smiled.

“Because! You two would be so cute together! You totally should!”

‘You wish.’ “Hah, no,” I smiled weakly this time.

“Anyways, I’m Diana, you must be the new girl!” she smiled widely.

“ yup, I’m Vanessa.”

“Ooo pretty name. Want to sit with me at lunch?”

“If Xan wants too.” I grinned looking around the hallway.

“Who’s Xan?” She asked

“Oh I’m sorry, Alexander, he told me to call him Xan.”

“Cute!” She grabbed my hand and dragged me to the Bio-chemistry classroom. “You are in this class with me!”

“How’d you know that?”

“Oh! I looked at your schedule!” She smirked.

“Oh, gotcha.”
