《Reincarnation, the beginning.》Chapter 1 ~God~

Eh! Where am I? I think that I died! Opening my eyes, I could see a tunnel. But it isn't a normal tunnel. That totally shocked me. After I managed to come back to my senses, I noticed that the tunnel was transparent and that I wasn’t standing but floating! Beyond this place, I could see stars. Planets unknown to me.
Trying to move, I noticed that I couldn't, like if there was an invisible force holding me and pulling me in one direction. I didn't notice it earlier in my panic, but I don't have a body! How is that possible! Is this the afterlife? Heavens? Hell? Valhalla? or something like that...
I don't know how much time has passed. Hours? days? years? a millennium... but I feel like I’ve been here for an eternity... I think I will go to sleep. That's funny because I don't have any eyelids, yet I’m still able to close my eyes. How am I doing that? Disconnecting from the vision? Fuck that! Too many questions with no clear answers! See you tomorrow, cruel world!
Eh? Waking up, I found myself in rye. Fields of rye, why? OH! I can walk or fly now!
Walking -after only God knows how long!- I managed to see a small wooden house with some cows around it...
In the house, there was a small bed, a table with only one chair, a fireplace with boiling water on it, but my attention was directed to a shelf with books written a language that I didn't know about. There was a book with every-changing pictures, no matter which page I was on. Also, I couldn't find the end of the book. I tried to open it at the end but I don't know how it still opened up in the middle. I felt like I was watching people going about their lives through the book
While doing this, something took away the book and put it back on the shelf. Turning around, I couldn't see anybody. I ran outside, looking to left and at the right of the house, but there was nobody. I started running around the house, about three times but found nothing. I yelled at him or her for nearly 7 minutes. Then I gave up and went inside.
"You really are loud, despite being calm in your previous life."
It surprised me. Drawing my eyes toward the voice, I could see somebody, but couldn't see him or her clearly. I rubbed my eyes, but it didn't help. The mysterious figure was drinking tea as he said...

"Sit here. Relax, drink this tea and when you are calm again, we can start talking".
I obeyed. After following his instructions, I calmed down from my previous excited state. It was because I finally met someone, after such long time. I asked.
"Who are you?"
The mysterious figure took a sip from his tea then looked up at me. His aura gave me the feeling of a loving father. I've never felt like that. I don't remember my father, he died when I was too young to remember and my mom never told me how he was like. And I never asked how he died. I didn't want to open old wounds. Mother tried to handle the situation, but she couldn't. She left me at the age of sixteen. I've never finished high school, and have never had any real friends...
'He' had an aura, the aura of a real father and that reduced me to tears.
I felt him embrace me and his words resonated in my head 'Don't worry son, you were never alone'. It calmed me down.
After letting me out of his embrace, he patiently waited until I calmed down. While wiping out my tears, he started talking.
"Answering your question, you should already know and have heard about me". Rubbing my eyes, I couldn't remind him, no matter how hard I tried, there was still nothing, and I could feel it: disappointment.
"It's okay if you don't remember. People on your Earth call me Father, Yahweh, the Almighty, Alpha and Omega and many others names".
It shocked me so much I couldn't collect my thoughts. How could it be? Where were the others? God? Could it be that I will meet my dad? Why-
"Slow down child, I will answer your questions".
I couldn’t see it but I knew that he had a smile on his face. Eh? How does he know? Is he reading my mind?
'Yes'.
Eh!? What?
'Don't be that shocked, you could call it telepathy'.
Telepathy... ah yes, that explained the words that I heard earlier. I calmed myself and said.
"Can’t we talk normally? It's weird to look at each other and talk without seeing the other’s mouth moving".
Ah! I'm stupid even if I don't see him-
"We can, I prefer this way too".
"Where am I? Why are there fields of rye? Why can't I see my figure? Are there other people here? It doesn't look like the Eden humanity imagined". I asked. Questions filled my head, but his giggling stopped that. My attention switched over to him.

"Eden...? I should answer you first. We are in my realm, something like your universe, but only we are here...".
Only we!?
"Yes, I like to rest here".
He created a different universe to rest!
"I always loved sunrises and sunsets, and light shimmering in many colors, reflecting in the sky".
I didn't notice that earlier, but here are two suns visible! And still the same part of the day! I couldn't grasp both with my eyes when I was looking at the sunrise, the sunset disappeared and vice versa. That was... I couldn't find the words to describe it. The most beautiful view I have ever seen in my entire life. Why I hadn't I noticed all this earlier? I don't know, but I'm happy and grateful that I realized it.
"... and you are a soul."
How can it be that I didn't think about it!
“The others... are in a place which you could call Eden like you said".
So it's true that this place exists.
"Could I meet with my parents?"
"That's possible".
Yes!
"But not now, maybe someday, but I can guarantee you that they are happy".
A little sad, but I could only smile at the fact that they are together. And the last question.
"Why am I here?" That is the question that had been bothering me from the beginning. "Why me? Is there something special about me?"
"None of those".
That hurt you know.
"You didn't live your life to the fullest. You couldn't taste many things, like love."
Ah...
"I don't often give offers like this, that's why-".
Yes! That's why this time I will live a life to the fullest! A life without regrets... and someday meet someone with I fall in love. I didn't let him end, thinking that he will send me on earth.
"I'm happy that you are enjoying it".
Oh, I should ask about how he will send me on earth etc. But he was already answering.
"... LitRPG".
Hey! I didn’t hear the beginning! LitRPG?
"Good luck".
I think that he won't tell me again and...
"Yes, next time I will show you myself".
I didn't even have time to think about it!
While giggling, he showed me where I needed to go. Why is he giggling?
Walking, my body slowly started to disappear. I could feel like Maximus* at that moment. I disappeared.
When I awoke I found myself drifting in a black space. I could see white dots all around me, wherever I looked there were dots. I came to the conclusion that those dots were just like me, souls since like me, they emitted a crystalline white color.
Hmmm... God said that he very rarely gave this opportunity... Thanks for making me feel special….
I couldn't move, but it didn't take a long time before I started moving, as the others were also getting sucked in the same direction. I wondered where we are going?
I don't know how much time passed, but now I see something in the distance. After some time I could see a tree, it's enormous! But around the tree, there were even more souls.
I started thinking about how he was sending me back. The first thing that came into my mind was reincarnation, I can't think of any other way so I will stick with that. I began looking at the tree.
I couldn't see the bushes at the top or the roots, only a massive trunk around which some of the souls went down while others went up. Probably, the ones who went up were going to be reincarnated and the ones who went down were going to be suffering, in something like hell? But for now, I had no intention to check if that was true.
Falling into the stream with other souls, I started to fly upward while circling around the tree. The journey through the path was long too long, but finally, I managed to see branches with golden, diamond and silver colored leaves, which I am sure the people of Earth have never seen before. The view was breathtaking. The following event I experienced was not something that could be described by words.
My eyes widened, I looked around when suddenly, the flow of the stream changed into an impulsive one. It surprised me, next we were fired over the tree. Everyone soon started falling down. I could see somebody hitting one of the leaves, tearing it off and disappearing after that. The leaf was falling slowly and disappeared too. Some of them were replaced while some of them were not.
I looked ahead and when I hit the leaf, I closed my eyes.
Did something happen? Opening my eyes I could feel a warmth around me, but it was still dark. I tried to move, but my body had no intention of listening to me.
I could now feel every part of my body. With that, I know that I have legs, arms, but what confused me the most... a tail. Looks like my reincarnation theory was right, but what am I now?

The Last Science [SE]
[SE has the same content as the original story, split into smaller chunks for easier reading. This story is on a temporary hiatus due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I work in healthcare and unfortunately no longer have the freetime to continue posting on a regular basis. As soon as our workload decreases, I will return. Thanks for reading! 💙] No one ever knows the whole story. Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, the fading town of Rallsburg stumbles upon an amazing discovery—magic itself. Faced with potentially world-shattering power, the people of Rallsburg keep the secret for themselves. Led by Rachel DuValle, a perpetually underestimated college student with grand ambitions, they seek to found a new society. The world beyond suspects nothing, but magic cannot stay hidden forever. A train arrives in Rallsburg carrying Alden Bensen, a directionless high school graduate. To him, magic could represent meaning for his life, an explanation for his empty existence. This potent force offers anyone the power to change humanity forever—or send it cascading into swift and total annihilation. The Last Science is an ongoing science-fiction / low-fantasy web novel series, focused on the modern world with a twist. New societies bud and grow, but the people who make them up are imperfect and flawed. The story includes elements of mystery, action, crime, interpersonal drama, relationships, philosophy, sociology, politics, and much more, all centered on the perspective characters driving the tale. This is the "Scraps Edition" of the story, where the chapters have been split up into bite-size chunks (roughly 1500-3000 words), for your convenience. The prose has been edited from its original form, with some improvements, but there are no content differences from the original. New chapters will be posted throughout each week starting on Friday and appearing on multiple days thereafter, depending on the length of the chapter. Content Warning (by request): This series delves into some topics and situations which may be upsetting for some readers. In American rating parlance, the narrative would be rated PG-13 (except for language), but some have noted the story can get pretty dark on occasion.
