《Killing Cockroaches In Xianxia For Self-Preservation》39. Representatives Argue, Chen Guanting

(Third Person POV)
(Representative Viewing Area)
In a luxurious room, a group of representatives from each force were gathered.
After seeing such a shocking performance, they all couldn't help but begin to have a sense of urgency.
Someone who was essentially unaffiliated was this talented!
All of them knew about the mistreatment of Sub-Sects and Branch families, as they themselves do it!
So it was basically a given that Bu Cai doesn't have good feelings towards the main sect!
Hence although monstrous geniuses like Song Ju and Long Tian did indeed stand out more, the representatives knew they couldn't coerce them away from their own family.
Therefore individuals, like Xie Xinyi and Bu Cai, who naturally could be persuaded made the representatives more excited.
As each representative was in serious contemplation, one of them slammed the armrest of their throne-esque chair.
This immediately caught the attention of the other representatives who couldn't help but frown when they saw who had done it.
Song Xuegang!
The representative of the Song Family had a rather intimidating face and larger body structure that would not be expected from someone who is from a family that is renowned for poisons and medicines.
He had a serious expression on his face as he told everyone in the room assertively,
"This child will be recruited by our Song Family, I hope the other families can give us face otherwise we may not be able to treat anyone who may be looking for medical attention."
The representatives faces turned even more grim after hearing such words.
They, as renowned families, were being told to lay down and allow such a talent to be taken due to face?
Although they were people who had lived for a long time and experienced many things. They couldn't accept such blatant disrespect with a straight face.
However they knew that offending the Song Family isn't something to be taken lightly.
Although all the families had their own medicinal experts, The Song Family's renowned reputation was not for nothing.
They had experts on a whole new level, Whether it be on knowledge on medicine or poisons.
So if something terrible befell one of their important members, they would be left with no choice but to turn to the Song Family or try and use incredibly rare herbs to try and cure them.

Therefore no representatives was in a hurry to refute his words; Except for one representative.
"SONG XUEGANG!"
"How dare you declare that you will poach one of our sect members so boldly?"
"If we, The Sky Sword Sect, were to give you face and allow this to happen. Were would our face go?!"
"Do you take our sect to be easy to bully?!"
As you would expect, Jin Hui the Inner Elder of the Sky Sword Sect was having none of it.
Although he knew about the consequences, how could he allow such humiliation to happen?
If it were to be publicly known that a talented youngster from a subsidiary sect had moved away to another force, it would give the impression that the Sky Sword Sect was inferior and unable to keep their sect members.
How could he let such a thing happen?
Although on the surface, The five Great Family's and three Supreme Sects are essentially equal to each other; No one truly knows the true extent of all the families.
As such, showing weakness would put them in a very bad position as if you were the only one who is inferior out of the top powerhouses, then who would want to join you?
And the Sky Sword Sect was by no means weak therefore to maintain such a reputation, offending the Song Family was reasonable.
The other families just do not have enough reason to directly offend him, therefore they are keeping quiet; however they will surely not allow such tyranny either.
Song Xuegang replied calmly,
"That isn't what I mean Jin Hui. I have just taken a liking to this boy and since the Sky Sword Sect has such abundant amounts of talents, I was thinking whether he would be truly be given the nurturing he should receive. I hope you don't take my words the wrong way."
Jin Hui's Face distorted even more after hearing that.
Although Song Xuegang sounded reasonable and friendly on the surface, the hidden meanings where anything but.
Song Xuegang implied that the Sky Sword Sect was too poor to nurture him.
He also implied that due to the discrimination between main and sub sects, it wouldn't be a good environment and hence used it as a reason to make Jin Hui yield as he couldn't deny it at all.

Jin Hui responded with smile on his face, it was as if the anger and frowning was all illusory, and said,
"I Indeed may have misinterpreted your words and I do agree that we have large number of talents, however we always have space for more."
"I also must say that aren't you biting off more than you can chew? That Song girl is indeed quite talented, and even defeated the boy?"
"Are you saying a medicinal clan such as your's would be able to provide an aspiring swordsman a good environment?
Plus, he may feel out of place being surrounded by people who are all of the same heritage."
"Of course, do not interpret my words the wrong way, It's just that I feel a swordsmen should be focusing on swords and not medicine with Clan members."
*Silence*
Jin Hui raised the usual argument which sects would defame Clans with...
Difference in bloodline.
Although Clans do have non blood related members, it is well known that they are treated slightly worse, regardless of talent, as they are not fully trusted.
This is a major weakness of the Clan System that Sects use to secure talents.
Since who would want to be nurtured in a place where you will be treated as lesser, regardless of what they did?
The other Clan representatives looked slightly irritated, however they also focused on the the first part of his argument.
'Bite off more than they could chew'
'That Song Girl is indeed quite talented'
This made them realise that letting Bu Cai over to the Song Family was absolutely unfeasible.
Since people in the older generation cannot publicly attack the younger generation as it would result in earning a bad reputation, and the retaliation of the sect behind them.
They must rely on the younger generation to fight for opportunities on between themselves.
Therefore allowing the Song Family to not only have one incredible prodigy but to also get Bu Cai, would result in major disadvantages for the other Clans and Sects.
Soon enough, The Chi Family's representative, Chi Zhenkang, began to refute Song Xuegang aswell.
Soon other families and sects joined in and said their own viewpoints on the matter.
This caused Song Xuegang to feel rather unhappy and argue back.
Just when the discussion started to get intense,
The doors to the VIP social area opened...
In walked a very handsome man with a smile on his clean and tidy face.
He wore a majestic and eye-catching silver robe with some purple lining it, and the robe had the character's CHEN on it.
Everyone had turned around to see who would dare to do such a thing at this important time, however their irritated expressions soon turned into shock, and they put on a smile once they realised who it was.
Chen Guanting.
The Inner Elder of a family that has close incredible close ties with the oppressive royal family.
His appearance slightly startled the representatives, as people from the Chen Family would usually only appear when the royal family was around or if something big happened.
However it wasn't too much of a shock as they are people of huge forces and have seen the royal family and the Chens multiple times.
They all stood up and greeted Chen Guanting with formality, as the Chen family has a position higher than the Sects and Other families.
They have the title of Grand Duke!
The smiling Chen Guanting also formally replied,
"It is indeed great to see the representatives of the Families and Sects, I, Chen Guanting, have come to declare something to you all."
His smiling impression then turned serious as he authoritatively said to everyone,
"Bu Cai is going to be a part of our Chen Family."
*Silence*
The other representatives couldn't say anything.
Chen Guanting then returned to smiling and said in an amicable tone,
"So I hope my fellow representative can give me face?"

The Choice is Not Yours
Author's Note: (As of November 20, 2021) I rewrote all the chapters perhaps more than a year ago, but haven't announced that I did so. Because that kind of announcement would include something along the lines of, "I'm working on the story so expect new chapters!" But the truth is, I lack motivation to do anything. And I would hate myself if I broke a promise. I'm extremely sorry if you have been patiently waiting for uploads. These days, I've been studying, not well, but studying somewhat. I will definitely bring more to show, with regular uploads. If not this story then there's another story I've been writing that's really exciting to me. It's not exactly similar to this story since it has a male lead and he is a baneful asshole with even less morals. I hope you'll like it when it comes to existence. And I'll leave my announcement off with the aforementioned promise. Meet Amber, a tomboyish, unstable, and cheeky lass who likes to keep to herself. According to her, she'll live the rest of her life on auto-pilot mode, awhile holding onto the few things that make her remotely happy. However, she forgot that people never really leave you alone, be it humans or even the Gods. And exactly that happens, ending her monotonous life on such the Gods' whim. But at what cost to her? Will she be able to hold onto the things she holds dear? Or will she fail miserably and lose herself in the process? That's what the Gods want to know. Disclaimer: I do not own the cover photo.Warning: If you are easily triggered, I am not writing this novel for you.
