《True Void Arts. (old version)》Chapter 29. Defeating the king.

Naath got down off of the tree and ran his true void arts producing light energy around his hand. The light energy was slow to cover Naath’s entire hand and he was a bit disgruntled with this. The rune let out a sigh noticing this, he truly thought Naath was a monster level genius. There were some people out there who were considered geniuses, that would take decades to be able to use light energy. It had to be known that light was one of the rarer energy types people would use. It was something so rare that it was unheard of for large groups of people to use it.
However even still, if the outside world knew Naath grasped how to use light energy in mere moments by absorbing it once, there would be many who would cough blood from anger. Even more would probably fall into depression at how long it took them to succeed yet this young man did it in seconds. Naath was completely unaware of all of this and continued to use the light energy and practice moving it around his body like he did with his true void energy. After an hour of this training, Naath had a firm grip on his control over it.
Compared to the difficulty of controlling true void energy, the light energy was like an obedient dog. Naath smiled as he reached a satisfactory level of control then an idea struck him. Heturned his fingers into the shape of a pistol and focused the light energy as much as he could as the tip of his index finger. Naath poured his martial energy into this light energy at the tip of his finger as well. However, he kept the light compressed to a small dot about as large as the head of a pin. Naath moved his thumb down and fired off the light energy.
Just as Naath was hoping for a long beam of light energy shot out from his finger and cut through the rock he was aiming at as if it didn't exist. After that it bored through the tree behind it and continued on for a while. It finally stopped when the beam reached the size of Naath’s finger. Henodded and smiled thinking to himself “haha I can actually shoot lasers from my fingers now!” However, he also noted that it took too long to charge to use in actual combat right now and the energy consumed was a bit much for Naath’s liking. He planned to practice these skills at a later date, with this thought he moved towards the territory of the giant darkness element devil bat.

The second he stepped into its territory a strong gust of wind occurred and the bat was right in front of him. It opened its mouth and seemingly nothing came out, but Naath knew better than that. It was clearly using a sonic attack he simply couldn't hear. Naath immediately covered his ears and put a layer of light energy around his legs and kicked out at the bat. The bat retreated effortlessly flying back into the air, its mouth still open as it released the attack continuously. Naath decided if it was only going to use a sound attack from a distance he would simply place true void energy around his ears.
After doing this Naath smirked at the bat sitting in the sky releasing an endless attack. He went to circulate light energy again and jumped into the air to hit the bat with a fist surrounded with light energy. However, just before Naath was about to hit it his vision began to spin and he realised he could hear again. The true void energy around his ears had turned into light energy. Naath’s eyes widened and he swore “shit!” It dawned on him that he had never even attempted to use multiple elements at the same time.
Naath retreated to the edge of the bat’s territory and grabbed a few leaves stuffing them into his ears. With that his vision slowly fell back into place, just as Naath’s eyes adjusted again he felt something slam into him with a ridiculous amount of force. As he was flying through the air from the impact he felt that it had broken 3 ribs on his right side. Naath was shocked, with the way his bones were now they should be nigh indestructible. He looked over to see the bat that had swiped its wing and hit him with it. The giant blood-red bat sat in the air with a dark black aura exuding out of its body, it was observing Naath in turn with its pure white unblinking eyes.
Naath ran his true void arts and began to repair his broken ribs, the bat not missing a beat flashed again, and was in front of Naath preparing an attack. Naath jumped slightly and reacted autonomously by striking out with a fist wrapped in true void energy. His fist collided with the bat’s wing and Naath once again was sent reeling back, this time his entire right arm numb. He looked up at the bat in surprise to see that his true void energy had just barely managed to leave a red mark on the bat’s skin. At this point, Naath also felt a sharp pain in his ribs, not from the breaking.

He used his martial sense to check and saw there was a strange energy rampaging in that area damaging every part of his body it came into contact with. Naath hurriedly ran his true void arts again and worked on absorbing this energy. The entire time he was doing this he was dodging attacks from the bat running in circles. When Naath finally absorbed all of the energy he realized it was darkness energy.
Naath was startled, “so this was why the rune was so afraid of this beast, darkness energy has this kind of ability?” The rune spoke up saying, “that's right Naath darkness energy will enter your body forcefully and destroy it from the inside out.”
Naath smiled and said,“well then I suppose I should fight fire with fire.” Before the rune could question Naath’s words he had run his true void arts and converted his energy into darkness energy. He used this energy, charged at the bat and threw out a full force punch. This time the collision was a tie, Naath let out a breath of relief glad that this had worked. He also noticed that now that he was using darkness energy the enemy’s darkness energy didn't seem to invade his own body. The bat looked shocked when it saw Naath using darkness energy and seemed to become hesitant.
Seeing this Naath immediately jumped into the air and sent a fist at the top of the bat’s forehead. The bat dropped to the ground being caught off guard by the punch and didn't snap out of its daze until it hit the ground immediately bouncing up back into the air. The bat seemed to become even more weary of Naath after this instead of more violent. The bat was clearly one of the more intelligent magical beasts in this forest. Naath didn't know but this higher intelligence was exactly the reason this bat was considered the king of this forest.
Seeing the hesitation in the bat’s eyes again Naath struck out and hit it on the head in the same spot once more. The bat didn't fall to the ground this time but wavered in mid-air instead. The bat opened its mouth again and let out a sound attack imbued with darkness energy. However, Naath still had his ears plugged and the waves of darkness energy barely even phased him at all. The bat seeing Naath ignore this attack that it had used to take down countless other beasts seemed to decide to flee. However, Naath cut it off and hit it as hard as he could again.
The bat seemed to start to be worn down from being hit on the head in the same spot three times and started to fly unsteadily. Naath smirked when he saw this and every time the bat tried to run away he would cut it off and throw another blow at the exact same spot. This continued a dozen more times before the bat fell from the sky and laid motionlessly on the forest floor. Naath smiled when he saw this and started to breathe heavily, the toll of the battle catching up to him as well as the pain in his ribs.
Naath collapsed laying down on the ground, however before he could rest the rune spoke up saying. “Naath, this bat has an innate ability to use sound to attack, you should take this opportunity to get its skull.”
Naath struggled to grab his infinity gourd and put the bat’s corpse into it. After that Naath laid on the ground with only the motion of his breathing. He was completely out of energy and passed out. Elder Gui appeared from his hiding place next to Naath and smiled satisfactorily at the young man on the ground in front of him. Right at this time a group of eight other people also appeared. Elder Gui jumped and clasped his fist saying “Greetings sect master!”

Starlight Antiquities
There is a place in the galaxy that deals in antiquities of all kinds, human and non-human alike. Its inventory of artifacts is colossal as is its inventory of mercs who they hire to acquire any artifact a client may wish that is yet to come into their possession. The ill-reputable business is constantly rubbing against the changing tolerance of the Union's government, and there are many security officers who would love nothing better than to vaporize the whole place with its owners inside. Yet, there are many tasks that nobody can do better, especially in the vastness of deep space where Union law is worth less than the energy needed to display it. One of its jobs involves finding an artifact that may not only hold the future of the human race but may also disturb the balance of the whole galaxy. *** While waiting for the next season of Mandalorian and the Witcher, and rewatching Firefly for the gazillionth of time, I decided to write this space-based series. The series has some litRPG elements in it, but it does not read like one. So, you won't run into any blue screens here. Yet, I wanted to use litRPG to give another dimension to this whole story and make it as unique as possible. This is a work-in-progress. Hope to keep on improving and fixing my mistakes as I go along.
