《Last Grace: The Apex of Another World》Chapter 14 - Weaved into Conflict

The birds could only fly away as fast as the wind carried them to get away from the imminent mayhem that was about to ensue.

Lucifer curbed away the fatigue that had been built up in the prior few hours - shaking away the constant feeling of being pierced, it was still their but he stood now. His body was working overtime - expelling a significant amount of spider venom. This was the work of the spiders poison. He did not care, he was not the one courting death. The spiders were.

They dared to waste his time, he would dare to waste away their life - one stomp eliminated any signs of life, he could risk being care free. Poison this weak would make him scoff if he was in his former form.

Now? He had to remain cautious. Enough that he wouldn't get poisoned again. Lucifer grimaced looking for any spiders, while he was doing that he tore a long branch off of a tree. This one worked much better as a spear-like weapon then that crooked one he had before. Which he happened to lose, he dropped it when he fell to the ground.

That's how straight shooting his ambitions were to him, they were not impossible. He merely sought to reach the apex. He needed to build a house. He needed to wipe away any threats of his death. He sought not death but eternal life on the path to salvation.

He could handle this much pain, if he couldnt, would he of been Hell's best torturer?

He stretched his muscles, his entire body needed relief - he had to do with what he had, and that included no antidote. The closest thing to an antidote would be their suffering. That would at least mask his pain.

He needed to succeed and to succeed here meant that he had to exterminate the spiders! Lucifer examined the origin of the first two spiders, he could see a faint string of web, more or less resembling a web you would see a normal spider weave. But this vile web was what he couldn't see. He studied it, and traced the path with his eyes. He found that it was stuck to the top - along with many upside down spiders, all ready to come loose. Though this time he was ready.

He slammed the stick into the tree, and they all fell down like landmines. He was going to kill them before they could counter, his body did not need any more venom to rid itself of.

They were numerous, their entire web sunk lower and lower to their ground as their hive of like-minded arachnids was getting unfurled. They couldn't work together now to craft webs. They all had to fight alone for the same goal.

Protect the web from the intruder!

Lucifer had another plan in mind - that was by no means defensive... “Twist!” Lucifer yelled, spinning the lengthy branch around - and around with inept skill, waiting for them to get smashed. Bludgeoned. Wiped out!

The spiders were unaware as they could only see this weird being spinning the branch around like an idiot - ignorant that they were about to get eradicated all at once.

The spider that was furthest up was the first to notice that something was definitely afoot! Wind was somehow getting made.

That spelled danger for that spider, and the rest.

They had to call in reinforcements. High pitched and annoying, the spiders begin shrieking summoning a beast from hell - if the sound was anything for Lucifer to go by.

But bring it, Lucifer thought. He could handle whatever!

A few seconds later the being below them narrowed his eyes in anger when he looked to the north as a deep and ominous chattering noise was audible. His grin told another story. He was not scared. He was excited.

Lucifer lowered his branch, the wind died down and charged towards the north - stick in hand.

Looks like this is a threat he could sink his teeth into.

A larger than life spider bigger than his waist began to creep towards him bringing with it an army of notably larger spiders when they are compared to the spiders huddled together - weaving the web. These were the real beasties of this here forest!

“You're going to be my first real foe, you should be proud,” Lucifer stated to the fast approaching swarm of spiders, easily holding a laugh back. His enthusiasm could not be hidden.

He may not make it, he may die but that makes winning all the more worth the effort. Whoever drew blood first would win!
