Chapter 10: Zayer Demonte
Room '578'
"Hmmm"
"Let's see how this goes"
Zayer held his key and was about to open the door. The door wasn't anything special, he noticed it was some kind of weak magic. He used the key and opened the door and went in.
"What the? Four beds? You mean I got to share the room with three others?? Pffffff"
The room was basically like a house. It had a bedroom where there were four beds, a bathroom ,two empty rooms and surprisingly a kitchen. Zayer really didn't understand the need for the kitchen when the food was basically free. The room had a pleasant air. Though the windows were closed, it felt like something was constantly feeling new air. Zayer went and opened the windows and had a look down. He was shocked. He was at least thirty floors above. Then he looked up and saw many more floors.
"This place sure is big!"
The dorm buildings were fifty floors high. There were around twelve to fifteen such buildings. All them were easily built by an expert mage who specialized in construction magic. All of the buildings in the campus were built by using such a method or else it would take years to build such a place. The Star Fire Academy itself was like a small city. Every year around thousand five hundred students were taken in. In some of the years, the academy even took around two thousand students! That would have been because the talent in that lot would have been good. The Star Fire Academy had the best teachers, best facilities and a long history that made it so famous that it retained the title of the best academy in the entire Gaspra Realm for over a century. The requirements of graduation was Sky Profound Realm. Once the student reached Sky Profound Realm they would be given the right to graduate. The graduation percentage was less than ten percent. This was because it was too difficult to reach Sky Profound Realm in a certain time. The students once admitted in the academy could stay in the Academy until they were fifty years old. By then if they hadn't reached the Sky Profound Realm then they would have to leave the academy. Usually the students would stay here until they were twenty five years of age. By then if they wouldn't have graduated, then would leave as they thought it would bring them shame. The nobles from the major clans didn't care about graduation as their life would be still the same if they didn't graduate. When a student graduated from the Star Fire Academy, he or she would have a great future. If the student was not from any of the four empires, then they would be given the opportunity to join the army of the four empires. They could chose any one of the four empires. The four empires called up such talented martial experts so as to join there army as it would strengthen their army. If the achievements of the student was great then he would advance in the ranks of the army. The four empires would also have other occupations for them and it would be based on the openings available. The selection process of these individuals was really vigorous. This was done to stop spies from the other empires from entering. The commoners were the portion of people who mainly benefited from graduation. It would change their life. They wouldn't have to live in poverty from then on. They would be considered equal to nobility and if their achievements were astonishing then they would have the chance to create their own clan. Opportunities were endless. Even for an average student who didn't graduate, upon leaving at the age of twenty five, he would find employment easily. This was why everyone wanted to go the Star Fire Academy. The Academy that would change their lives.

The nobles from the major clans didn't care about graduation. They would simply stay there until they were twenty five years of age. Theron and Sojul too never graduated. They even left early. But Zayer didn't know about this, he was told that they graduated early instead. The reason why his brothers left was because once a practitioner reached the Earth Profound Realm, the difficulty in advancing to the next level increases exponentially. More over the practitioner needed insights to advance. Usually a martial artist would gain insights during battle. Theron and Sojul left the academy and went out to adventure in the other lands hoping to break through from the Earth Profound Realm to Sky Profound Realm.
Zayer then inspected the other rooms. They had basic furniture and nothing else. He was all alone in the room. Then he decided to unpack. After finishing all the work, he decided to go out and venture around the academy.
He came out of the room and walked along the hall way. Then he saw an elevator and opposite to it was the stairs. He had never seen such a strange thing and had only heard about it. He decided to try it and went inside. Once he came inside, he saw buttons with numbers from zero to fifty and the number thirty two was red in color. He understood that he was on the thirty second floor. After realizing that he pressed the button with zero on it. After he pressed it, the door suddenly shut and opened once again. Zayer was surprised when he got out. The place was different and at the end of the hall way there was an exit. He thought this may be the ground floor. He walked to the end of the hall way and came out. He saw a lawn in front and after that was a road. He scanned his surroundings. There was shock on his face when he looked around. There were a series of buildings next to his building. They looked all the same. He saw a sign on the building that said five. He thought this may be the way to distinguish between the buildings. He crossed the lawn and stood on the road. He looked both ways. On one of the sides there was a sign board. He decided to walk in that direction. He went near the sign board and saw what was written on it.
Community Square
350 meters
He walked along the road for a few minutes. Then he came in front of another set of buildings. They were small buildings which were at most three floors high but what surprised him was the crowd. There were thousands of people walking in and out. It was like a shopping district. He saw students wearing uniform but most of them were in casual clothing. Seeing this he felt somewhat relieved as wasn't wearing an uniform. He walked into the bustling crowd. Then he came onto a street. There were stalls set up on either sides selling food and other stuff. He saw that the bigger shops were in the buildings. He saw students hanging out and having fun.
As he walked past a few stalls, he then saw a restaurant. It was an open restaurant with some of the tables outside and some inside. When he glanced around the restaurant, he found two familiar figures. They were Aunt Annis's daughters. The older one was Marilla and the smaller one was Levia. Marilla was fourteen and Levia was thirteen years of age. They both were sitting together with another boy. He look around Marilla's age. He had jet black hair and black eyes. His skin was milk white. It looked like they were having a nice time in the restaurant. Zayer walked in to the restaurant and went towards them.

"I'm sorry but have I seen you somewhere?" Zayer said as everyone at table looked at him.
"Zayer!"
"Zayer!"
Marilla and Levia got really excited upon seeing Zayer and went to hug him instantly. The boy at the table couldn't understand the situation.
"Zayer! When did you get here?" Marilla asked.
"I got here a few hours ago"
"You idiot! Where were you the last year? You didn't even come home. What training was so important that you couldn't even come to send me off when I was leaving for the Academy?" Levia frowned.
"Yeah. Zayer I heard you didn't even come back after a year. Is that true?" Marilla asked.
"I'm sorry Levia, I truly am. I got back only two months ago" Zayer said.
"Now that you're hear, you won't go off to anywhere else okay?"
"Okay. Okay. I'll hang out with you Levia. Okay?"
"Good"
Zayer had only two friends in the clan. They were Marilla and Levia. It was the same thing for the other two as well. The three were inseparable. Zayer really liked hanging out with them because he could easily trick them. He sometimes used to tell them stories of nonsensical stuff and make them get scared. Though at end, most of the time Marilla would understand that Zayer was bluffing but that wasn't the same for Levia. She believed whatever Zayer told her. There was one time when Zayer told her some stories about spirits and how they attacked only small girls. Levia didn't sleep for the next three days.
"Zayer this is Theon Sparkson from the Sparkson Clan" Marilla introduced him to Theon. Sparkson clan were one of the big three clans of the Zoroark Empire.
"Oh! Hello, I'm Zayer Demonte"
"I'm Theon Sparkson" the boy gave a handshake as he had a smile on his face.
'Third Eye'
Zayer used his Third Eye ability on Theon. Upon seeing nothing suspicious, he calmed himself and sat down.
"Zayer I can't believe you were training in seclusion for almost two years!" Marilla was astonished.
"Seclusion my ass! It was all because of that damn Verona! If I were bit more powerful, I would have taken care of her easily"
Marilla and Levia began to laugh. They knew Zayer didn't like his Grand Mother. Theon was shocked by what Zayer said. He couldn't believe what he just said.
"Y-You don't mean Verona Demonte do you?" Theon asked.
"Yup that's her. That's the only Verona in my clan" Zayer answered.
Marilla looking at Theon's expression and explained to him
"Theon, this is how both Grand Ma and Zayer talk to each other. I know it's shocking but Zayer is her favorite grandson. So that's how it is"
"Favorite my foot!" Zayer snorted.
"Zayer what kind of training did you do?"
"Training? That was only a hoax!"
"What?"
"I did train there. But most of the time I was put to study different books. Verona said I would concentrate more on my training there. So I had to stay there"
"Oh! Looks like you a bad time" Marilla said.
"Not entirely. There was something good that happened there" Zayer looked at Levia.
"What happened?"
"I met with the spirit of our Grand Father. Verona actually took me there to meet him"
"What? Really? What did he say??" Levia asked.
"He said I was the child of the prophecy. I would go on to unite the whole of Gaspra Realm!"
"What? No way! Really?" Levia was too curious.
Marilla and Theon looked at each other and began to giggle. They knew Zayer was just bluffing and tricking Levia. Marilla just couldn't control and burst out laughing. In a few moments all of them except Levia were laughing.
Levia's face became red in embarrassment.
"You idiot! You lied to me again!" said Levia as she started punching Zayer's shoulders.
"Sorry! Sorry! Okay! Calm down!" Zayer said as he was still laughing.
The four of them talked on for an hour. Then Zayer told them he wanted to check out the library. Levia said she would take him and both of them left the restaurant and walked towards the library. After a few minutes, they came in front of a building. It was a ten storey building. The entrance looked very grand. They walked up the steps to the entrance. They went inside and walked through the hallway. On either sides of the hallway were paintings of different people. Zayer understood these people were some of the famous figures. After they walked past the hallway, in front of them was a huge desk and a man was sitting behind it. The man looked really old and had white beard. He was stroking his beard when Levia and Zayer came to him.
"Teacher, this student is new. Please give him a library card"
The man looked at Zayer and said "Give me your badge kid"
Zayer gave him the badge and the old man took note of his number on the badge. Every badge had a unique number. Then he used magic to create a card.
The old man returned his badge and gave him his card.
"Thank You Teacher" Zayer said.
"Hmmm" old man nodded.
Levia then took Zayer to the library. The library had five floors. Zayer's library card gave him access to only the first two floors. The rumor about the library was that there were more than five floors but to gain access to them the student needed to have amazing achievements. Levia and Zayer walked past the rows of books. Then he finally asked
"Are there any books about Immortals?"
"I think there is. It may be on the second floor"
Zayer and Levia walked up to the second floor. It looked almost exactly like the first floor.
"Hmmm. Now where are they? Let's walk to the end"
"Okay"
They walked to one end and saw a section where there were books regarding to Immortal lands.
"So, what do you want to see? I'm sure you won't take much time. I know you hate books!" Levia giggled.
"Enough. Let's just go have a look"
"Okay relax"
Then they saw various books about immortals lying on the racks.
"So what do want to see? How about Land of the Immortals or.........All about Immortal Lands? huh?"
"No. Not interesting.Hmmm let's see." Zayer started to look around.
Then Zayer saw a book which peaked his curiosity. It was a thick book which was biting the dust. It was covered in dust. Zayer went to have a closer look.
"Okay what's this? Hmmm"
"Famous Immortals: A Description Guide"
"Oh! Did you find a book?"
"Yes. This should be interesting"
"Okay, let's find a place to sit"
Zayer and Levia went over to the nearest table and sat down. Zayer blew all the dust off the book. Now the cover could be seen clearly. It was a black book with a gold colored borders. There was strap on the center edge of the book. Zayer opened the strap.
"Zayer, I think this book is over fifty years old"
"How did you know that?"
"See that strap, they stopped using it around fifty years ago. I've seen it on some of the pretty old books"
"Oh! So this is more than fifty years old?"
"Probably"
"Okay, let's see"
Zayer opened the first page. Only the name of the book and the author was written. He didn't really care who wrote such a book. Then he glanced at the index and was quite surprised. It only had names. So, he randomly flipped through pages and saw how it was written. On every page, the name and the picture of the immortal was given. But the details about the person varied from person to person. Zayer thought this was because of lack of information. He was right. It wasn't easy to write everything about famous immortals. The details about them either was collected from a source or witnessed personally. Hence, the information was definitely not accurate.
"Now, whom should we see? How about Krezul?"
"Zayer who's that?"
"Just some trouble maker"
Zayer went back to the index and started to look over the names

"Woah! Look at him! He's looks too scary!" Levia started to get frightened.
"Relax! It's just a book"
"Okay"
Zayer started to look over the details.
"Hmmm. Name Krezul alias Mighty Krezul alias Demon King alias King of Death"
"So many names"
Zayer began to giggle looking at Levia.
"Let's see what else. Killed more than hundreds of thousands......killed the immortal........extremely dangerous.........known affinities: darkness...........hmmm......present location: unknown......"
Zayer glanced over all the little details.
"Alive or dead: Unknown"
"Boring! No good information on this guy here. I thought at least I'd know from where he came from and things. Forget it! Let's look over more names and see if there is anything interesting!" Zayer was displeased with the lack off information on Krezul.
"Okay go back to the index" Levia said.
Zayer once again went back to the index.
"let's see from........here, right!" said Zayer as he started to look for interesting names.
