《Woke Up a Tree.》Chapter 30

I had a new project I was working on. I needed to make a crafting room. I thought about names before I started. It is very important to come up with a good name before you make something. You don’t want to be known for stupid names.
The room of crafting? The workshop? The garden? Anything made would actually be grown. Leaving materials laying about would subject them to the mana wasting issue. Woodworking? No. It needed to be tree related. I had a theme going on and I didn’t want to break my streak.
Carpentree. Yes, that was it. Any wood related crafting would be called carpentree. There was no one to stop me. I could do anything I wanted.
I needed the ants to be high in mana. I asked Queen Bitey to select the most suitable ants for the project.
Two blue ants showed up to the chamber I was working on. I made a mana shaping tool. My idea was to use special tools to grow the wood into the desired shape before breaking it off and that would be the finished item.
I wondered how Monte stabilized the items. I was using seed pods. The user of the item would provide mana and the item would grow in power over time. The seed pod would connect with the seed pod I was having my tree sworn ingest. It was a magical key and lock system. I hoped nothing went wrong with it.
I called Monte into the chamber. “What do you think?” I asked him.
He walked around a bit. “These aren’t normal woodworking tools.” He told me.
“No shit Sherlock.” I replied. “You won’t be working with normal wood. You’ll be working on my heavenly wood.”
“I’m not sure I like that.” Monte told me. Monte pointed to the blue ants. “Who are they?” He asked.

“Your assistants.” I told him. “Or maybe you are their assistant. I don’t know yet.”
“Do they have names?” Monte asked.
“I haven’t thought of any yet.” I replied. “I like to watch someone work and play before I bestow a name. I feel like their name is an emergent quality of their personality.”
“That’s cool.” Monte replied. “Are you going to give me a name?”
“Maybe.” I said. “Wanna be my woodmaster?”
“No.” Monte replied. “I changed my mind. Please don’t give me a nickname.”
“Wuss.” I told him.
“So what should I be working on?” Monte asked.
“I was thinking of weapons of some sort.” I told him. “I’m still looking over the sky whales that attacked us. They had some interesting modifications.”
“Oh, really?” Monte asked.
“Yes.” I replied. “They could fly and they had those cool missiles they shot everywhere.”
I turned my attention away from Monte. I really did want to examine those whales. They were so cool. How did they fly? What were they shooting? I wanted to copy it.
I also looked at the progress of rebuilding. Well, it was really regrowing the houses of the outer town. I was tired of directing the work myself.
“Queen Bitey.” I called out.
“Yes, Tree.” She replied.
“I am tired of growing everything myself.” I told her. “Is there anything you can do?”
Queen Bitey shifted in her throne cavern. “What about those mage ants helping that human? Can you make ants that handle the growing?”
“Oh.” I said brightly. “That’s a good idea. I probably need to change their color though. The blue ants are really supposed to be the magic ants.”
I went to my magic pods to figure this out. This was going to be cool.

Tower of Babel: Speedrunner
Launch day. That was what they called it. The day when over four million people vanished in an instant from the island of Manhattan. The day earthquakes ravaged the east coast. The day a one hundred and one kilometer tall tower rose from the wreckage of the now empty city. The day every screen, newspaper, and smart phone displayed a single message from an unknown source: The Great Emperor has issued his challenge. From the ruins of the Old World rise the Tower. Its doors will soon open, and the great game will begin. A hundred floors and a hundred challenges await the worthy. And to the victor? A Wish of Unlimited Power. Cayden Caros yearned to play that game. His only problem? The Terms and Conditions. A strict set of rules that, among other things, prevented anyone under the age of sixteen from entering the tower. Forced to wait for over two years, Cayden did the only thing he could do to pass the time. He researched, he practiced and he prepared. It would take a lot to catch up to players with such an enormous head start. Lucky for him, he was a special type of gamer. A SpeedRunner So.... It has been a hot minute. I don't like talking about my personal life, but suffice to say I had some fairly bad times for the last couple of years and have only just recently pulled myself back to good health, physically and mentally. I have a very supportive partner, and am put together enough that I want to get back to doing what I love. Writing nerd fiction that I am too embarassed to try to explain when people inevitably ask what my books are about. Still beats when I used to write erotica. Story updates for book 3 should be on a daily schedule, baring unforseen circumstances. The majority of chapters from books one and two have been pulled down to keep with amazon's KU rules. Book one is found here. Book two is found here. If you like the story, please comment or favorite. Each comment goes a long way towards pushing visibility for the story, which means more people get to see it and I feel slightly more validated as a writer. I have a discord now where you can ask me things and I can be like 'no. no. I'm not answering that. no."

The Mob in His Novel
Through his hard work, Arthur Bennett has achieved what he thought was the pinnacle of life: wealth, prestige, and power. However, achieving those came with a price; he lost everything and everyone he loved. One day, out of boredom, he mindlessly wrote a fantasy novel filled with numerous clichés and superfluous conflicts. However, he never imagined he would be reincarnated into that world after his death. No, not as the protagonist, not even as an important supporting character, but instead, he became a mob in his novel. Will Arthur use his abilities and knowledge as the author to make the right decisions and make it through the end, despite the fact that there was a greater, more powerful threat that he was unaware of even as the author? ==========-I will also be posting it on Webnovel, Scribblehub, and Tapas (TBA) under the same name
