《Breaking Limits: A DBZ Fan-fic》Chapter 51

"Something is about to happen, huh? "
Sarada didn't react to the voice of Bulma. Although she was very right. It was already time for the world martial arts tournament. It had been going on for some time now and Sarada had been keeping a close eye out. At the moment she was at the lookout, looking over the earth in search of the enemy that would arrise. He wasn't awake yet. Kami would feel his presence and immediately inform her. She didn't have to be doing this. Kami was more than enough. But she still wanted to. The minute he popped up she would know his location and decide where things go from there. It should be rather interesting seeing as his power level has been boosted by a lot. He would make for a decent opponent. It's been a long time since anyone challenged her. Although his power level isn't much of a challenge anyway. Oh well.
It was interesting to find Tien a bit stronger than he originally was. He wasn't super strong but his power level was higher by three hundred. Butterfly effect maybe. Who knows. Sarada just kept an eye on the happenings, awaiting the awakening of Piccolo. Pilaf really doesn't give up. He doesn't even know what he did. That idiot. What is with his thirst for power? He obviously won't get it. He's literally a comic relief villain. Its annoying sometimes. The only person belonging to his group that Sarada liked was Mai for obvious reasons.
Sarada had a unreadable expression when a new presence was detected. She opened her eyes and stared ahead unmoving. Nearby she heard Kami gasp in shock and horror, proof to what she had just discovered. He's awake. He's back and he'll be in search of the dragon balls. He may have eternal youth now, but something told Sarada he would still hunt down the balls. She again closed her eyes in order to scope what was happening. That stupid pilaf.
"He's.. He's awake" Kami said with a look of terror on his face. "He's a wake and stronger than before. This is bad"
"Who's awake ? "Bulma asked the old Namekian.
"King Piccolo" Sarada informed as she stood. She was her calm self as she performed a few stretches . "The very evil counterpart of our lovable Kami"
"I understand that you far outclass him in power, but he is still immensely strong and that spells danger for the humans" Kami said to the casual Sarada.
"People die every now and then, it's no big deal" Sarada said with a shrug which earned her a disbelieving look from the old Namekian.
"You're -"
"Kidding. I'm kidding " Sarada sighed. "I'm the guardian. I must protect my people and I will, don't worry too much"
Bulma watched the younger walk towards the edge of the lookout, creating a white cloud as she did. She hopped on and glanced towards her with raised eyebrow?
"You coming? "
Bulma nodded and was quick to join Sarada on her created cloud. She obviously had something up her sleeve if she was that carefree when it came to the lives of innocent.
"I'll be seeing ya Kami. Don't worry that green head of yours"
"Where are we going? "Bulma asked as she unconsciously toyed with the ring on her finger.
"The tournament is still in full swing" Sarada said as she directed the cloud downwards. "Multiple capable fighters are gathered and the finalist have already been decided. Piccolo will strike"

"You knew this would happen, didn't you?"
"Yes I did"
"And you could have prevented it"
"Yes I could"
"But you did not, why? "
"Because this situation will give birth to a powerful ally" Sarada said in her very cryptic manner. "And its not like the guy is comparing to us in any way. My five year old sister can take him"
Bulma said nothing after that. Sarada was completely right. After all she made it her mission to be stronger than any opponent that may come her way and she has been seeing it through. She is the strongest amongst them and because of that she hardly gets into fights. Bulma already knew she would not fight this guy unless she really needed to. She liked to give everyone else experience like that.
To think it had already been five years. Bulma sigh and fell back in the cloud. Holding true to her promise she did marry Sarada when she turned eighteen, despite the girl saying something about it being to soon. She sure as hell didn't resist much if at all. Bulma only then realized that Sarada apparently had no last name. No saiyan actually does. Frankly Bulma can't imagine the other with a last name so she just remained Sarada while she kept Bulma Brief. It was a simple thing really but Bulma hoped it helped Sarada rid herself of any doubt or anxiety she had.
As she lay there she picked up on an impressive ki level. She immediately knew that it was thus the King Piccolo. Maybe he could not hide his ki, unlike most. He'll be easy to locate. She noted that another smaller ki was heading towards the tournament. The ki wasn't pleasant. The was an evilness rolling off it.
"That was fast" Sarada seemed to have picked up on it as wel. She leaned forwards as if trying to spot this figure. "He already created minions and already sent one toward the tournament "
Sarada hummed. It would not be a problem. Her entire fsmily was there along with Chichi, Krillin, the perverted master and his girlfriend and Jun. Piccolo's minion will Not scceed in retrieving the dragon ball or killing anyone present.
She felt bad for the poor guy. He didn't even know what he stepped in.
~~~~~~`
Gine and Bardock were currently at the tournament and watching their son battle a cyclops. Or at least that's what Bardock called him. Bardock seemed very critical. That bald human was no where as strong as his son and yet Kakarot insists on dragging this fight out. He momentarily looked away when he felt his youngest scale his body and come to rest on his shoulder. The toddler was staring at the sky with a pensive expression even as she ate her cotton candy. It seems she had sensed it too . The ki is stronger than most. It was actually standing at 7000 if he had to give it a number. It wasn't the level that worried him buy the evilness he felt coming from it. He knew it made his wife uneasy, who shifted as she gazed at the sky.
"That feels very wrong" his daughter, Lotus noted as she sat down on his shoulder.
Gine nodded in agreement to her daughter. She also sensed Sarada and Bulma heading their way. It was very likely that they already knew of whoever was coming their way.
"Am I the only one who feels that? " Krillin appeared nearby, his voice shaky as he spoke. That aura sent a chill up his spine. He knew he shouldn't be so afraid seeing as they weren't as strong as the weird friends he has made, but the evilness was terrifying.
Chichi who was watching Kakarot have his fun also stared at the sky. She had a feeling that things were about to get very interesting.
"They're here" Krillin announced as he directed his gaze to the building he came out. He was there just a moment ago and it should be empty. However he sensed another presence within and something told him that was bad. Whoever was in there with the new arrival was in serious trouble. He had to do something , didn't he?
With that in mind he made a mad dash for the building. It was where the perliminaries had taken place and where he had to wait before his fight. He slid across the concrete stopping At the door and kicking it open. There he found the announcer cowering on the ground and a green creature with bat like wings hanging from the ceiling. Krillin almost flinched when his aura washed over him. That evilness he felt was coming from him. The creature chuckled darkly as he opened a brown sack, catching the four star ball that came out of it.
Krillin stepped back when he was suddenly in front of him. He steeled his nerves and launched a punch. The green guy only laughed and made to dodge, but Krillin was faster and he caught him in the gut. There was shock on his face as he stumbled back. Krillin glared with fist raised. He needed to get the dragon ball back.
"That doesn't belong to you, give it back"
The green man scoffed. "Try to take it then. Don't think it'll be easy because you landed a lucky shot"
Fine, if that's how he wanted it. Killing pushed off the ground with trained speed. There was no need to be afraid. He was stronger than him. He worked hard to get as strong as he was and he would not allow himself to cower in the face of evil. He was determined as he launched another attack. This time his opponent did managed a dodge and readied a counter only for Kirllin to disappear from his line of sight.
"Ha! " Krillin came from behind with a kick to the knee, bring his opponent down and reaching for the dragon ball. He was not afraid. He grinned, sure to get the dragon ball when he was kicked in the gut and sent flying.
"That hurts" he whimpered as he pulled himself off the wall. He made a dent. His back was in pain, but he'll manage. He let his guard down when he believed he won. Big mistake. One Kakarot taught him not to make. It won't happen again .
With a shout he launched himself at his opponent, delivering a series of kicks and punches. With each attack he increased his speed steadily and refused to give this guy the space to breathe. He won't be capable of dodging him soon enough. He had smug smirk on his face thinking Krillin was at his max speed. How wrong he was. When he tried to land a blow of his own he received a fist to the wrist strong enough to break it.
The creature screamed in his pain and stumbled back only to get a kick to the chest, knocking him onto his back. The dragon ball was dropped and Krillin was quick to retrieve it. He smiled slightly as he eyed his enemy. Never letting his guard down. His enemy was now cowering before him and before he could try to get away Krillin jabbed him in the neck, knocking him out.
"Yeah!" Krillin cheered for himself, feeling proud. He did it. "I did it! "
"Very well done"
He almost screamed when Sarada's voice was heard. When he realized it was her he sighed in relief. That was close. She almost gave him a heart attack.
"Good job Krillin" Bulma congratulated with a hand on his head.
"Look at that, you escaped death" Sarada said absentmindedly as she inspected the body of who she knew was Tambourine. Of course she noticed that her statement made Krillin very uneasy. She only chuckled. The boy had grown. He was stronger and should learn to be a tad bit more fearless. She supposed the pure evilness rolling off this guy would make anyone uneasy.
"Who is that guy?" Krillin asked. Sarada obviously knew what was going on.
Before she could answer Kakarot came strolling into the room, his eyes immediately landing on Tambourine.
"I'm guessing he's the one who gave me a bad feeling" he said to no one in particular . "He's already taken care of. And here I was ending my fight with Tien just to make sure things were ok"
"Someone needs to give Tien a senzu" Came Chichi's voice as she walked into the room followed by Bardock who was carelessly dragging the monk's unconscious figure while holding a struggling Chiaotzu with equal lack of care.
"Bardock, please don't hold him like that. He's injured and an ally and would you put Chiaotzu down" Gine sighed as she tried convinced her grumpy husband.
Bardock scoffed and dropped both of them.
"Dad, seriously. I told you to be a bit kinder to our allies" Sarada sighed.
"This boy swore to kill my son because of some idiotic farce between their masters, how is he an ally? "
"We had a good chat" Kakarot said with a shrug. "Things were sorted out soon after"
"Unbelievable "
Sarada ignored her father and looked to her baby sister who had her gaze on the hand held console she occupied herself with while she repeatedy kicked the unmoving Tambourine.
"Who is this green guy?" She asked. "Is he trying to copy Kami or something? He looks like ge couldn't choose between that and a bat"
Sarada sighed. "It's a long story"
Lotus didn't seem too convinced by that. "Let me guess, some evil lord has awoken from his slumber and created minions who will do his bidding? "
Sarada didn't even know what to think about her sister's very accurate guess.
"Well, yeah. That's absolutly correct"
Lotus smiled a very happy smile at that. A smile that reminded them of the fact that she was just a toddler.
"Yay, that means I get to kick some butt"
But in the end she was a full blooded saiyan.
On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road.
