《Reality Grants One Chance》Chapter 28: F*ck the larva

I could feel my eyelids tremble as I pushed them together with all the power I had in my body. Somehow calmly giving up to die didn't seem like the course of action I was ever going to take.. well - unless dying was what I wanted. I was going to die on my own terms, having made a conscious decision on that. Seconds passed as I felt more weight on my forehead, slightly wet, some slimy substance was sliding over it..
"Doesn't really feel like a larva.." - My eyes slowly opened, as I tried to look around to the most of my ability. This, however, wasn't necessary.. one look above me gave the answer right away.. a strand of the material that the "nest" was made of, detached itself from the wall and was now residing on my face. I would give out a sigh of relief, but my breathing was still something I could not control.
"The thrashing stopped though.." - Indeed, the thrashing inside of my stomach stopped...for a brief moment.. As after a slight delay, the larva became active again.. their efforts doubled ... more aggressive. I jinxed it..
My mind went blank for a brief moment, as I felt the worms moving around my stomach.. the difference? They weren't eating with the same slow and patient tempo, they were agitated by something.. and that - made their actions hurt a whole lot more. I felt the larva rapidly rush up the stomach, trying to go through the esophagus, all at the same time.. a few made it through - but ultimately, a number of them got stuck, clogging the esophagus with their bodies, which apparently had tiny spikes on them.. I could feel them trying to wriggle through, more larva pushing up and causing the clogged ones to scrape the tube and get stuck even harder.. That's when the larva spread out and started chewing, ripping flesh and trying to claw their way out of my belly..some made their way out towards the natural exit, as I felt them becoming impatient and starting to dig their way through the walls of my intestines. My whole belly seemed to be wriggling, as if a spawn of Shub-Niggurath was trying to find it's way through, digging out with its branch-like tentacles..

The larva made their way through the walls of my stomach - wriggling into my abdomen. It was like a dozen slimy fingers running along my insides, making their way around the organs and trying to find the way out.. I could feel the tiny stub-like feet attach themselves as they crawled along the inner side of my abdominal muscles.. I dreaded what came next, as it was the same fate as the toader... they began their way to the surface - gnawing on the muscles and wriggling right through the fibers, ripping them apart.
The other larva, which had been lucky not to get stuck in the esophagus... made their way up my throat, and now - were crawling right into my mouth. I immediately felt the sweet taste of the honey they were covered it.. right now.. it was revolting, as the oily spawns were wriggling along my tongue, their bodies moving in a wave pattern, brushing along the taste buds, making me scream in my mind - unable to do anything... Their small heads popped between the teeth and forcibly opened my mouth.. there were a bit too many of them, as I felt my lips stretch as all of them rushed right out.. In horror I looked down - seeing the pale bodies pop out of my own mouth like multiple tentacles. They were covered in the feeding liquid.. which was colored red due to the blood that got mixed into it, small bubbles of air and tiny pieces of my own flesh lined both the worms, as well as the whole inside of my mouth.. I could feel the minced meat that was made out of myself on my tongue.. The larva popped out all at once.. scattering and sliding all over my face, dropping lower.. ever so slowly.. their wriggling bodies were moving slowly...
Their friends, still trapped inside of my body, seemed to go completely crazy and started chewing through everything withing their reach.. I could feel the worms bite through the abdominal muscles.. mete centimeters away from the skin... but all of them were becoming even slower - as if they were tired, out of energy.. It was then.. that my vision shifted.. and a cold feeling spread through my whole body, like someone pouring liquid nitrogen right through my veins..

I could feel something happening, something moving inside of me.. not the worms, it was akin to a liquid that poured right through my body.. I could sense it - I could feel its shape. It was dark and intangible, and it was coming out of the tiny bodies of larva, which were getting weaker by the second. The feeling was bizarre, a new type of high..
The larva were dying, and this.. this inky, ghostly substance..it was pouring somewhere inside of me.. spreading right through every fiber of my body, running along both my veins, bones and nerves at the same time.. It was more pleasurable than anything I've felt, or done, or been done to. Wave after wave of pleasure was spreading through my body, making even my scalp tingle.. indescribable all consuming euphoria.. I was on the peak of pleasure and it wasn't going down at all..
God knows how long it lasted, as I blacked out in the middle of it... But.. I woke up.. and my eyes weren't eaten.. and I couldn't feel any maggots chewing though me.. only my racing heartbeat and elevated breathing..
" I'M BREATHING?!" - The realization struck me with a force of a sledgehammer... I could breathe on my own accord, I could breathe faster, or slower.. exhale and inhale.. that meant - the paralysis wasn't permanent.. it wasn't irreversible.. I nearly laughed, slowly understanding why it went like this ...
"Paper-leaf.." - my chest was twitching from laughter.. though it was just me exhaling loudly in short outbursts..
"It's probably the fucking fungus in my blood... FUCK YOU WASPS! I already have a parasite inside of me!" - For whatever reason- the fungus had killed off the creatures that ate the contaminated flesh, which drank and swam in the vile blood.. and they died.. even the ones lying on the ground beside my head.. were dead - curled up and burly, looking more like ugly potatoes... they died and I survived this torture and was alive..
"So there are dead bugs inside of me now.." - the thought wasn't that pleasant.. though the score was still in my favor.. I didn't bleed to death.. once again - thanks to the fungus... I didn't feel much pain.. Rotting bodies of the larva could kill me withing a short time, but.. but I didn't even feel the ones that were digging through my abs.. I breathed larger breaths and felt.. nothing out of ordinary. Minor aching, but I didn't feel like there were dead bugs floating in honey within my guts.. Everything seemed.. well - solid.
"I have a fungus inside of me. Hah.. Should I shout Waaagh!?" - the aftereffects of the pleasure made my mood too optimistic and .. good.. too good for the situation I was in.. As .. even though I survived and could breathe.. I was still within the breeding chamber of the wasps... right next to the chewed up body of a toad, covered in banana sized larva.. Not the right time to be laughing in glee within your mind..
Especially considering that another toader was just thrown on the ground into the cave.. Three wasps entered it.. two had toads with them, and the last one.. well - it started plucking the fattened larva off of the body of the toader.. or I'd rather say off of the mostly digested remains of the creature and moved them into a sort of a basket, or a nest, fixed on it's back.. where the wings should have been. I could hear the skittering motions of the wasps, as one of them loomed over me, touching my skin with its antennae. I steadied my breathing as much as I could, but I could do jack-shit about my racing heart.. it continued looking at me with curiosity for a few moments..
"Leave.. please leave.." - I begged silently - looking into the faceted eyes of the creature.. If it could sense that something was off with me... I didn't want to think what could happen then..
The giant wasp moved away from me, scraping the stone floor with it's hard long feet.... then I felt hard mandibles clench my shin and start pulling my body, stone floor brushed along my back...

Hawkin. Bronze Ranked Brewer.
07/11/2022 Update: We're currently at the end of the 7th arc, out of 10. My plan is to continue to publish a chapter at least 4-5x a week for the next few months. Synopsis: Hawkin found his place in the world, far from humans and monsters. He abandoned the adventuring life long ago and left civilization, opting for peace and isolation instead. After ten years out in the northern forests, he befriends a strange creature and his life changes. A traveling trio of monks then show up in Hawkin's woods and share with him the best beer he's ever had. After that beer, Hawkin wants to do nothing but accept the brewer's path and brew. This story is intended to be slow and easy. It involves a slow progression of power and brewing more powerful beers. There is occasional conflict. Thanks for reading, and I really hope this story relieves a bit of stress from your days. Note: I'm behind on Audio, but I hope to catch up soon. Linked Audio is always free.
