Chapter 584: [ Battle in Solheim ]
“So are you going to continue fighting?”
Sounding impressed, the Dragon King P’thala said.
But this was of an attitude of looking down from above.
"I will... till I beat you, that is!"
Hearing Allen’s determined words directly, the Dragon King P’thala only widened his eyes and he gave a soft sigh.
“What chances of making a comeback? It doesn’t exist anymore. As long as you think about the number of special moves that you have and possibly can use, you can understand the outcome. If you want to pray, maybe a miracle will happen, but relying on those things isn’t going to destroy such a rare breed of Monster Kings called ‘Monster Emperor’”
"...A rare number of them, huh?"
Battered and tattered, Allen muttered.
With a tone that was from deep within his heart.
“……You will not back down?”
“I will not.”
“……not even if you die?”
“……I would rather die.”
The Dragon King sighs bitterly.
“As I thought, you’re a bigger idiot than I imagine.”
“… …”
“… However, I don’t hate such an interesting idiot like you…” He laughed happily. His mood lifted and his expression lightened. “—I got it. You got me, then, let me display a similar determination……!”
“This will be the last round if you survive this, you win…”
“I’ll destroy you!” Allen grinned.
“Come and try, you damned human!!” The Dragon King smiled happily despite his choice of words.
… … …
Allen’s body was in tatters, but his eyes held a wild light as he smiled fearlessly. He held his chest as if taking out something. Then, a strange, skull-mask like an object, half transparent and holding a strange luster.
“This time is my turn…! (All of you fear me! All of you kneel before me—for I am the strongest!)” As Allen chanted his spell words, a golden radiance flashed past.
As if releasing a bird back to the skies, Allen spread his arms and let go of the strange skull-masked emblem into the sky. As he released it, it rapidly expanded.
Nonstop flashing. Points of golden light bloomed and surrounded Allen, flickering continuously like the stars in the sky.
At a ridiculous speed, to a ridiculous scale, it steadily swelled up. Then, it widened.
As it swallowed the surroundings, it grew enough to envelop the entire forest. Suddenly, with a violent shaking, intense drowsiness assaulted the Dragon King. But after an instant, it vanished like a lie.
“—Welcome to my world, Dragon King!”
The Dragon King frowned and looks around. He then felt it on his skin.
Now, this world was like his, a different space—a different world.
A personal world owned by the caster.
That feeling was correct.
“Ho? So you rewrote my Domain…?” The Dragon King smiled faintly. He looks around, curious and interested. “As expected, so you do know how to fight using Domains, huh…”
Truthfully, he had already weakened his hold on the surrounding. With his original power, even if Allen put everything he could, rewriting his Domain would be a difficult task. However, the Dragon King didn’t want to do that. He wanted to fight Allen at his fullest. But no matter how long he had waited, Allen didn’t do anything he had expected, making him somewhat disappointed.
But now…
“… …”
Allen’s face fell heavily. In fact, he had already tried this before but his aura couldn’t budge the world and so, he had thought rewriting the Domain is already impossible. But just now when his power burst forth to help him, his aura accidentally sweep over the place and he was surprised, there’s no interference. And so, he was finally able to cast it—

But he wasn’t an idiot and knows why…!
Allen felt not ‘pity’ but instead, ‘Challenge’ from the Dragon King… and for this, his battle spirit surge once again.
“… Since you didn’t do anything and just stood there within mine, I actually thought you don’t know how to do it.” The Dragon King smiled, amused but with a bit of teasing. “One must know, as long as you are many times stronger than your enemy, being entrapped within your opponents' Domain, is tantamount to suicide~”
“… even if I do anything, I wouldn’t be able to… my power is not enough to overwrite the world you created.” Allen shrugged. He was not an idiot and obviously had tried it before. Amidst the battle, he tried releasing his own Domain numerous times. However, the power within the world was just too strong and powerful he couldn’t do so—he was being outclassed.
“However, when you release that powerful breath, your stream of mana distorted for a bit and became unstable. Taking advantage of that small moment, I managed to overwrite it… and make it my personal reality…!”
“Excellent!” The Dragon King laughed heartily. “Good eyes…”
“…??” The Dragon King’s casual attitude caused Allen to feel doubt and be vigilant. But the Dragon King just smiled faintly as he looked down on him, “… Mid Gods are the rulers of their own worlds. This is the starting point, the boundary between a God and a High God… That’s why, in this state, a God would now be able to shape and create their own personal world, like some sort of a draft, a blueprint beforehand.” he suddenly started.
“… …”
“Lesser God, allows the individual to feel the world… to perceive everything in its entirety. By being able to see the truth and perceive the real ‘Truth’ of the world. They would be able to possess or should I say gather divine knowledge about the world and it's unseen ‘reality that couldn’t be seen by the naked eye. In this realm, they would be given chances to see how the world works, the energies around—with that, it’s the preparation to becoming a real God, one that able to create a real world!”
“…Reaching the Mid God Realm means having the ability to create a world that is cut off from proper reality. An independent space. A world of their own, a type of reality that is unique for each individual—the world they wanted to create. Although it could still yet to exist in real reality, one can still able to drag others inside of it for a significant amount of time.” The Dragon King smiled faintly. He spread his arms wide as if embracing the entire world. “This is your own world, how fantastic…”
“… …”
Unlike the Dragon King’s Domain which was a vast and unending forest, Allen’s Domain was an open, barren desert with monolithic black tall pillars that seemed to be supporting the entire sky. Each pillar looked like those of Greek seen in Pantheon but they were as massive as they can be, looking as if they were connected to the sky.
The sky was curtain with the dawn, coupled with the eye-catching red clouds hanging from above and great gears turned in a never-ending rotation.
At the Center of the massive pillars was a large tower-like thing with open windows and doors.
A large banner was placed at the top of the tower with large strong words engraved on it: [ Solheim—The World of the Brave ]
Below was an endless hill of swords; perhaps a countless number of swords anchored in the ground like grave markers in a wasteland, yet are well preserved. There were weapons of all shapes and assortments all around them. Some weapons were extravagant, some looked plain and ordinary, some seemed obviously sharp, and some looked Holy and sacred while others were filled with killing intent...

The numbers were so much to the point where it was difficult to count!
“…Seeing it, one would surely feel how you live your life up until now…” The Dragon King smiled wryly. From his tone, one can even feel sympathy and pity.
“… …”
“This world melted into a realm that was you, down to your core…”
Most Domains are a creation that depends on the creators’ state of mind and their experiences in life. Those that define who they are and what they desired.
“… in here, you live your entire life in a battlefield… lusted for battles, on the way lost many people you acknowledge and treated as love one…” The Dragon King sighs and muttered in a soft tone. Then, he turned around and stared at Allen, “…My dear brother, one must not forget Mid Gods fight battles using their own Domains. In their world, they have full control and interact with it.”
This was their own world, and they made up the rules.
“The creator in their own personal world has complete knowledge of all that's going on within it and dominating power within its fields. They can change the laws and reality within it… here, you are God, I guess…” “However,” The Dragon King smiled as his body radiated a sense of greatness that would make it easy to recognize him as a royal being. “… You should not ever forget, Mid Gods fight using their Domains.”
Crack! Suddenly, the sky showed a crack and various pieces akin to that of glass shards starting falling from the sky.
Allen’s eyes widened in shock. “If you can overwrite other Gods Domains, you should be prepared to be overwritten as well.”
However, when the sky was almost completely broken and Allen’s face instantly paled, it stopped.
The Dragon King continued smiling; “If you think that you had already won just because you managed to entrap them within yours, then you are gravely mistaken. With the current you, I can easily destroy this world and drag you on my own reality. As long as one has stronger power compared to yours, you would never be able to win…”
“… Damn it!” Allen clenched his fist in frustration. The Dragon King’s words, he understood it. If one used their Domain, one must know the timing to release it. Because, if the Domain is destroyed and was overwritten, the caster would receive a destructive backlash that would cause him a winnable battle to be a failure!
Just because, he had managed to drag his enemy into his world, doesn’t mean your victory is already assured. Who knows, it might be the cause of your defeat instead…
The Dragon King saw Allen’s bitter expression, and “Ha ha ha, you are still young. However, your current status can make any Monster Kings jump from their seats. You are that of a Monster, so you shouldn’t feel inferior or shame.” The Dragon King slowly descended on the ground. He faced Allen with a mischievous smile; “Be honored, it’s not often I acknowledge someone… but you indeed had earned that right…! Your power and potential had captivated me…”
“… …”
“Truthfully, I also feel the same way as you do…” The Dragon King sigh melancholy. He raised his head and sigh. “I always thought that being a Monster King was an Honor that anyone in this world could only dream of having.”
“I longed for this power and worked hard to reach the stage that I was at now—all in order to protect everything that I held dear.” The Dragon King smiled. But this smile was full of pain and sorrow. “But I was mistaken…”
“I only learned about the truth when I become a Monster King—when I had spoken, the oath…”
“… …” Allen’s body stilled.
Tears started falling from his eyes, tears full of pain and uncontained sadness. “I did everything I could to protect my kinsmen, to protect my family—what do you think I felt when I learned that all my efforts until now were for in vain…? That I all my sufferings, my pain, my dreams… all of them seemed to be cast away as if they were discarding all my efforts and sufferings.”
“… …”
“To kill you was my plan in the beginning. But seeing you have potential but still currently weak, I thought killing you here and now would be a waste. A boredom. So I gave you time to mature and give me an entertainment at least…” The Dragon King grinned. “…but who would expect you were quite a hot-headed and reckless person, challenging me when you truly know how wide the chasm of the level between us was…”
“… I often heard that” shrugged Allen with a wry smile.
“Yeah, you are and without a sense of humor as well…”
“I also heard that~”
“Ha ha ha, you are still yet to qualify to stand in this stage of ours. But it’s not that far, at least… from what I can see on you, you are a Monster with a monstrous growth speed as well. Sooner than one can imagine, you will be able to contend on this stage… as long as you have time…” The Dragon King smiled gently, unlike the ones he had shown before.
“Cause, I’m a genius~” Allen smiled proudly. “You might be stronger than me now but sooner or later, you would be the one who will look up to me.”
“I know…” The Dragon King unexpectedly agreed. He had known that he had realized that. “Since you are adamant to change destiny, to change fate… why don’t I give you a chance.”
“What…?” Allen was startled.
"What are you talking about now? Didn't you want to kill me, just a while ago?"
"That is because... the world is watching. It's not like I would let you enclosed me in your world for entertainment reason, right? This is one of the reason. This world of yours, the world would not be able to see or hear what we are doing. Now I can say what I want to say--so hear me out, and lend me an ear..." The Dragon King P'thala smiled faintly.
"...?!"
“… The desire of the world is not mine. However, due to the oath, I wouldn’t be able to do anything… but you can. And you just showed me that.”
“… …?!”
“I never thought someone like you to appear, especially among the Monster Kings. I don’t know what you wanted to do but if it led to saving my people, I wouldn’t mind lending a hand…that is if you succeed. If not, then I guess I bet wrong…”
“If you help me, then—”
“Don’t misunderstand. I won’t help you directly. When we return outside, I would be subjected to rules once again.” The Dragon King then looked around. “However, didn’t you say… fighting makes you stronger? Why don’t we have fun then…?”
“… …” How did it come to this…? Allen’s brows twitched. Oh well, that’s what I had thought as well…
“The world outside is temporary, I know that. So, before it ends, let’s have some fun… little brother~”
“Jeez… you make it sound like I’m looking forward to it…”
“Ha ha, your words don’t match up your expression…!”
“That’s just your imagination!”
“Bring it on…! Let me see how far you will reach…! Let me see how you struggle from your own fate…!”
The Dragon King laughed. Then, his body disappeared.
Baaaang!!!
Sparks fly across the area as a metal clash.
Allen didn’t need to hold back anymore.
He didn’t need to hide anything either.
From here on out, he’d be at full power.
No worries, no panic, no anxiety—just have fun!
“LET’S PLAY, DRAGON KING!!!”
“ENTERTAIN ME WELL, LITTLE BROTHERRRR!!”

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.
