Chapter 532: [ Pain of Dawn (2) ]
“Pain? Dawn?”
“That’s right~” The one who called himself Pain nodded his head, as if proud of his name being known by others. His expression as hidden behind the strange mask yet the tone of his voice was so eerily calm and cheerful--as if ignoring the fact that almost all the people within this ridge were an enemy that he had just bared his fangs in a moment ago.
If a fight broke out, surely, he would be at a disadvantage even if he was possessing a very strong power—with this many people, he would be drowned in an instant. And yet, the masked youth, Pain was acting leisurely and nonchalant as if not realizing this fact.
Was it confidence?
Or boldness...
…still, isn’t this being very arrogant…?
However—
Silence.
The entire area became as silent as death at this moment.
Not one dared to act aggressively nor showed any hostility!
A silence like that of death. The originally lively ridge, with many colors and personalities clashing, like balls on a billiard table, had in an instant become totally quiet. The flickering bright golden glow on the sun above, imprinting a comical dullness.
After a moment of silence, Pain commented, slightly unhappily; “However, I disapprove of bullying… especially towards the Dawn People.” he started. His tone gradually turning cold, and the entire area once again plunged by a strange cold pressure. Like an icy cold sea, pouring down on all people from up above, the atmosphere turned cold and chilly yet for some reason strange reason, all the people started sweating heavily—there were even people who immediately released their own auras, causing countless of colors to light up in the ridge, and yet not one was able to breathe without problem—except for the people of the Passing Cloud Sect who was watching the scene unfolded in a strange yet dumbstruck manner.
Ignoring the glaring and gazes of a salad of hate, fear, and anger all mixed, Pain continued with an indifferent yet ice-cold voice; “…As of now, Passing Cloud Sect had some connection to us and those who insulted them will also be like insulting us! Although I don’t want to interfere with the problem of the young, but if you push it too far, Dawn wouldn’t mind stepping in~”
“… …?!!”
“This occasion, from what I know is not a public persecution event for Passing Cloud only but a recreation for all those who were invited…am I right?” Pain announced in a youthful, sonorous, and clear voice. The tenor of his voice was enough to tell of the undeniable authority he possessed.
“Ha ha ha, what mister said is right.” One of the Elders tried to mediate and muttered. “However, in my opinion, doesn’t mister reacting exaggeratedly in this small squabble among the young heroes?”
“That’s right…! I also think that as well…”
“Yeah, yeah…” Many people immediately joined in, like small fire spreading through an entire forest, the voices from soft and weak to become stronger and loud. They started expressing their opinions and complaints…
Yet, Pain was still unperturbed. He adjusted his position, sitting on the branch of the tree, he calmly dangled his legs like a kid while sitting, waving his both legs as if he was playing—“Hm, squabble among the young heroes, eh…but, in my opinion, old man, two or more sect looking for trouble for just one small sect after arriving, isn’t mere squabble anymore…but bullying, isn’t it?”
“You—!!?” Being called old man, the elder was about to flare up but at this very moment, two figures appeared at each of Pain’s side—wearing cloaks with the same markings, both wearing a bamboo hat obstructing their faces.

One was a young woman with beautiful looks, the other a small kid around thirteen to fourteen years old with black hair and golden hue on his long sideburns.
The sudden appearance of these two people immediately caused quite a commotion from all the people within the ridge, because they haven’t felt or noticed any presence before the two people arrived or appeared. It’s as if both of them just materialize in thin air. Extremely mysterious yet giving other people horrifying feelings and dread and fear…
In fact, even now, from the shock gazes of all the Elders present in the ridge looking at the two sudden appearances—they have keener senses than other people and yet, they couldn’t even feel it, they were shock and ashamed.
The young woman and the little kid weren’t wearing any mask at all so their faces are displayed in front of everyone, without intending to hide whatsoever.
The people processed the image of the young woman, starting with her long, shimmering, flaxen hair billowing in the breeze, a few petals caught in the silky strands, and she didn't seem to mind, her eyes focused on something else.
She had a youthful profile, bright and unmarred by the stresses of life, and one could see the pinkness of her tongue peeking between her plump lips as she stood behind the masked youth; Pain. With a huff of frustration and a crinkle of her nose, she glared at the people beneath the place they are standing.
Carrying a might that could shake the heavens and the cold of an icy world, the young woman was emitting a fearful aura and presence at the same time, causing the people who were slowly edging forward to step back in fear.
The other one was a kid, with a shimmering black hair and golden long sideburns. His eyes were oceanic blue—giving an impression to all women looking as being handsome and cute at the same time. Thus, the moment he appeared, almost all the women turned their eyes on him as if being pulled into. Many wore a bashful expression; some were even sparkled in their eyes.
And yet, even with all this attention, he was getting, the kid never turned his eyes towards them, only stood indifferently behind the masked youth, callous and cold.
“… If you can still call it a mere squabble and nothing worthy of attention, then, why don’t we join in?” He muttered with an icy cold voice.
His presence threatening and menacing.
“…?!!”
“I can assure you, our ages doesn’t differ that much. In fact, most of us can even be said to be younger than most people here—why don’t we join you in this little charade…? I’m certain that you would surely like the show we will perform,” After saying that, aside from the masked youth, the young woman and the kid finally made a move.
They released their auras and to the horror of the people present in, especially the Elders who think of doing something reckless—a pressure that wouldn’t lose to the one that the strangely masked youth bear down on them.
Brown colored sand appeared around the young woman, turning into strange tentacles wriggling like living beings while blue flames appeared at shoulders, arms and hair of the young kid. Both released auras not inferior to a Saint Realm…
How is this possible…?!
Three Saint Realm experts at the same time?!
What’s more are their ages…!
Beads of sweat appeared on the face of the people, especially those standing close to the tree where the Dawn People was standing. …

This people, none of them was normal. They were all monsters with frightening capabilities.
If they joined in this battle—Nangong Liuyun, Zhan Shen, and many people started feeling their hearts beating wildly. Would that still be called sparring…? Even idiots and fools would realize the power difference between them and the people of the Dawn. If they really fought them, it wouldn’t be a fight anymore but a one-sided bullying!
Only fools and morons would feel that they still have chances of winning or contending against these monsters!
Seeing their expressions, Pain spoke, “…We’re not fond of conflict… but we won’t retreat from war…” While speaking, he twirled his hands in the air, as if playing. He continued; “While we didn't interfere in the worldly struggle for power, we are not afraid of any provocations. If you want to seek death, we will definitely satisfy your wish!”
“… …”
One could discern from his voice that he thought in the following manner; ‘Go against us and perish,’
Arrogance…
—yet with substance!
“We desire Peace… so don’t let us take up arms. Iron Heart Sutra Sect and all the Sect present in this place… we are but a mere passerby but, if you try to block us, can you withstand…?”
Simple words, arrogant tone but the people below on the ground trembled as the familiar pressure appeared.
It was not only the Iron Heart Sutra Sect but most of the people aside from the Passing Cloud people.
A gust of bone-chilling blizzard arrived howling as a virtual image of an ice lotus began to blossom behind the masked youth’s back, and gradually become substantial. Coldness as if coming from the bottom part of an icy world, the tree that he was sitting on instantly turned into an ice sculpture and the surrounding area become a freezing world, shocking the people. Even flakes of snow started falling down from the sky as if coming the season of winter—truly incomprehensible…!
Ximen Wu and Bu Fangyi glanced at each other, shock and doubt filled their eyes. This could also be said to be the same among disciples present as they wondered—who was Dawn? What kind of group is this and what is their relationship with their Sect?
However, as for Lan Ling ‘er, Si Mulan who was able to join this event using their respective connections even though they had just managed to enter the Sect, as well as Ximen Han, an elder—all of their gaze immediately turned towards Allen who was nonchalantly watching with a smile like an unrelated spectator.
Allen, of course, notices the gazes that were thrown at him, but he only assumed an “I don’t know anything” look of innocence, causing everyone who saw him to smile bitterly. Dawn… of course, how could they not know of it—their leader is right here, you know!
Nangong Tian had stood motionless like a rock until this time. However, he had started to sway now due to the unbelievable scene of the frozen world. He gave an unwavering look to Pain and his comrades. A strange sound came out of his chocked throat, "oh… oh… oh…" But, he was unable to speak anything in the end.
What the hell is this power…?
It’s as if he was able to control the weather of this world to his liking…!
Is that a Saint power…? No, more like—Nangong Tian’s face turned extremely pale as realization struck him.
Only such being can exhibit this kind of prowess…!
Beings only few in number within this continent…
God…!
Pain let out a chuckle, “Whizz, relax, we don’t desire war against your respective Sects… this is but a mere warning, a good advice so to speak. We won’t do anything as long as our tails are not stepped on…
Dawn will remain as the dawn of the world, beautiful but fleeting, seen but aloof…”
“…what do you mean by that?!”
Instead of replying, Pain only responded, “We hope that your Sects were open-minded, or else, conflicts may arise… and we are not fond of doing unnecessary action either…”
The people, especially the Elders present from different Sects looked at each other in dismay after they listened to those words. There were many wild and untamed hearts present amongst them. They knew that the opposite party’s strength was a mystery, and they wouldn’t be able to match him. And yet, another sudden appearance of an unknown group terrified them…Therefore, a bewildered clamor rose in response…
What are they going to do…?
This was especially true for the Elders of the infamous current first Sect under Heavens; Iron Heart Sutra Sect. Nangong Tian and Nangong Bu Yu’s eyes were almost shooting flames, and their fists were clenched. It seemed that they were about set into action but was trying to hold back due to fear slowly budding within their hearts…
In the end, after a long silence, one let out a bitter sigh and asked, “…haaa, Your Excellency, what is your purpose? Who are all of you? And what do you want in the Despair Grieving Mountain?”
In response, Pain smiled under his mask. He had shown himself for two reasons. The first was to follow his original plan, and that is for his Dawn to make his appearance in the world and tells them that Dawn is here. Leaving his mark…
The second was the extremely distraught appearance of the Passing Cloud Sect Disciples he had gotten to see; he couldn’t bear that sight as he was also, can be considered one at the moment. Thus, he had made use of the opportunity he had after scaring the remnant soul who had tried peering his secrets, riding on its momentum.
With this kind of opportunity of showing strength, what else would he need?
Allen had a clear conscience in this regard. However, he wasn’t going to act despicable when it came to the other half of it. He was just here to advertise the existence of the Dawn…!
Beyond that is already… too much…
“Ha ha ha, straightforward aren’t you?” Pain let out a chuckle. Giving an amused expression, “But fear not, we didn’t come here for anything wicked or any ill intentions. We only came here to send someone off… besides, we are not of Divine Martial Continents people so the happenings in this continent, we don’t take a bite of it. Even if you kill each other at this moment, we will only watch from the side in excitement, so relax.”
“…?!”
“…However, although it is hard to admit it but we owe quite a debt to the Passing Cloud Sect for saving someone very important to us. And for that matter, any ill intentions towards the Sect would also reflect on us—so I ask of you, people of Divine Martial Continent, all of you might not be in good terms but please do show an act of respect and not just act like shameless hooligans—it’s unsightly…” Then, his gaze turned towards a certain direction: “… especially to the hot-headed young people. You are called young heroes by your elders so please do not do something that would taint the name ‘heroes’…”
Pain muttered as he turned his gaze towards Zhan Shen and Nangong Liuyun’s direction, obviously implying where these words directed to.
“… …” All of the prestigious youngster present in the vicinity, including Zhan Shen and Nangong Liuyun, clenched their fist, their nails digging on their palm, shedding blood.
Their eyes full of anger and humiliation.
However, what can they do?
They are not idiots who couldn’t recognize who was strong or not… who was genuine power or not. More so, they extremely well—known for being the strongest and most powerful among the younger generation. They prided on their strengths, so their insights!
Facing his undisguised challenge, should they accept it or not?
Just facing up against the masked youth, whose power and status among these three strange people is obviously above, was already troublesome enough. If they also had to fight against these two people… the eight slaughter Kings and other distinguished people among the younger generations didn’t think that they would be enough to contend against these three people.
If the Elders joined maybe… but where will their face be thrown into afterward…?
Even if they won’t interfere, just ganging up many people against these three was already humiliating enough for their status and prestigious names—!!
Hence, with regards to the masked youth’s open challenge, the two; the hot-blooded Zhan Shen and Nangong Liuyun and even the aloof and cool Blue Sky lake Young Master, Wang Feng, as well as the two Imperial Princes; the First Prince Ye TianLong, and Third Prince Ye Wugang, all only stayed quiet.
Acting like predators, silently watching from afar.
Boring… Pain muttered inwardly as he noticed the people withdrawing. Though, this response was already anticipated by him and so he shrugged carefree, acting nonchalant.
The two people behind him also withdraw their auras, causing the tense atmosphere within the ridge to slowly calm down.

Waking up in his sweats and t-shirt near what seems to be a forgotten path through some woods, he struggles coming to terms that he's no longer in his apartment. As he tries to cope with his new reality, he hears a horse coming down the path. He hides behind a nearby tree dreading what may happen next. As the horse approaches, he sees a man walking next to it. The horse is burdened with packs and gear. When the man nears, Drew nearly panics. He has a large sword strapped to his waist, obviously a fighter. He continues to hide as the man slowly passes only for the man to stop a dozen meters past his hiding spot. "You may as well come out, ya know. You weren't as well hidden as you thought," the man stated matter-of-factly, letting the horse’s reins go and putting his hand on the hilt of his sword. Slowly and scared for his life, Drew raised up and walked from behind the tree. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't planning on attacking you. I-I don't know where I am. I heard your horse and hid. I didn't know what you'd do if you saw me. I'm sorry," he nervously blurted out. A minute passed. Then two. The man seemed interested with Drew and stepped closer, eyes squinting as if trying to see something. "What's that on your shirt? Is that. What is that? Is that, Pac-man?" The man was visibly shaken while pointing at me. Looking down at his t-shirt nervously, "Yea. Yea. I woke up here a few hours ago I think. 3 maybe 4 hours. I’ve just been sitting here. Where am I? What's going on?" Drew asked. "That's not important right now," the man replied. " What's important is where you're from. What year is it?" "What year? April something 2020. Why? What's going on?" Drew continued now worried. The man was taken aback. After a few moments, he seemed to calm himself some. The man sighed and looked at Drew in earnest. "Well, I've got good news and bad news for ya. Bad news is you're not on Earth anymore. Good news is you happened to run into me and not someone else. You’re either really lucky, or it’s fate we met in these woods, and I don’t believe in luck." The man continued to walk towards Drew while talking and put out his hand. "I'm John Mitchell from St. Louis or thereabouts. You’ve got nothing to be scared of by me. Walk with me and let’s talk."
