The sound of gunfire from the M16’s and the M4’s fill the air, a hail of bullets rains down on the monsters trying to approach.
Cartridges and bullets hit the ground one after another and splinters and dirt explode into the air.
Groooaaaarr!!
“Eric is down!”
The man named Eric was sent flying by a four meter-sized wolf. He almost died but fortunately, he managed to use his rifle to block the beast’s claws if not he would have been split into two.
“Damn it!” He cursed himself. He then took a bayonet knife and a Beretta M9 and equipped it in both hands.
“Let’s see what you got doggy!” Eric snorted.
The wolf pounced on him at the same time Eric charge.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Eric shot at the incoming wolf with his pistol.
Grooaaarr!!
The wolf was hit on its eyes roared angrily and opened its mouth full of sharp teeth that it almost looked like those from the movie Alien!
When almost in contact, Eric twisted his body in a hurry and evades it.
Safe!
He was able to see its movement.
Certainly, being a Lv2 was actually quite amazing! It was almost surreal!
As Eric was rotating mid-air, he thrust his knife to the wolf’s neck!
Gyaaaaahh!
The wolf howled in pain with the knife still stuck on the side of its neck. Eric rolled on the ground and, Bang! Bang! Bang!
He finished it off with his pistol!
Dead!
“Uha, uhahahahaha!! Did you see that!?” Eric exclaimed excitedly!
But suddenly, a second one spring out from another direction still aiming at him.
Tarararara!
Sounds of gunfire echoed in the area and the wolf fell in the ground Dead!
“Don’t get full yourself, idiot! This is a battlefield, soldier!”
“Yes! Captain!” Eric hurriedly saluted. He then looked at his rifle but sadly, it was already unusable because it’s almost bent in V angle.

That wolf’s claw was certainly scary! Eric wiped off the cold sweat from his forehead.
Holding his pistol, Eric took the knife back from the wolf’s neck and rendezvous with his comrades.

The intense combat was still ongoing and the casualties have already skyrocketed.
Gradually the soldiers were being overwhelmed.
"Watch out! A gorilla-like monster is coming at us!"
One soldier who saw the gorilla screams. They were shooting off small sized enemies like oversized Lizards, wolves and other beasts, which is manageable despite their troubling numbers. But this gorilla is a different ball game.
The monster is a 3m tall giant ape with a head full of short and thick horns.
It has thick hides that completely repelled bullets. They can't take on this enemy while engaging the horde of small monster beasts.
"...! Farmer, Falkner, and Wilson! Aim for the ape's legs! It will be bad if they draw near!" The Captain immediately issued his command.
“Yes, sir!”
“Damn it! It’s almost three minutes!”
Their ammunitions were already used up and they are already panting hard. If they were still a normal human, they would have already sprawled on the ground with their guts spilling out from fighting monsters with only guns and knife equipped.
They try to stabilize their breathing as they continue to defeat the unending torrent of monster beasts.
A minute to endure but somehow it seemed impossible!
As most of the soldiers had already given up and was only continue fighting to drag as many monsters as they can to hell to hell with them, suddenly,
“Hmmm,”
A voice resounded in the noisy battlefield.
It was not loud and instead as low as a person softly muttering to him but for some reason, all the people in the battlefield hears it.
But what’s more unexpected was that the moment that voice appeared, the captain and the other soldiers noticed that the monster activities actually ceased.

“Who’s there!?” The captain cried out.
“… …”
No response was heard. The soldiers began to panic as the unknown voice had become silent.
Is the ambush done by this person? Some soldiers thought of that.
It wasn’t unfounded, after all, the monster suddenly stopped attacking, and even their movements become halted while their bodies started trembling.
Are these monsters owned by this person?
Monster Tamers aren’t new to them. Even in their camp, there were two monster tamers existed.
However, they never heard of someone capable of taming these many monsters!
“Speak! Do you need something from us?!” The Captain once again asked.
“I don’t speak that kind of language!” The voice finally responded.
English?!
When the captain heard it, he was surprised at first but he finally felt something,
A person’s presence?
The captain sensed someone’s presence and turned to look behind him.
“… …”
Not far away from their position, a black hooded figure with his head covered by a hood was sitting on a tree branch.
Based on the build, the figure looked to be a teenager, at most in his early twenties.
Who is he?
“Friend, who are you? Are you related to these monsters?”
“I am not. Don’t put much blame on me so carelessly.” The voice turned cold. “It might take your life.”
The Captain was surprised and immediately tried to recover the conversation. “I apologize.”
“… …” The figure turned silent.
He then stood up and jump from the tree.
The moment he does so, from the bushes, a large white scaled snake appeared, glaring at the soldiers with its gleaming red eyes.
The snake’s appearance startled the group and the soldiers immediately raised their weapons.
“Calm down, this is my friend.”
The Captain heard his words and felt complicated. He gestured to his comrades.
The soldiers lowered their weapons on their leader’s orders.
“Who are you?”
“… My name is Magwayan, A Filipino.” The figure raised his head but the Captain and the other soldiers can’t still see his appearance.
“A Filipino?”
“I’m lost…” The man named Magwayan spoke. “Say, where is this place?”
“North Khorasan…”
“North Khorasan?” Magwayan’s voice faltered. “So I’m in Iran… still a long way to Italy…”
“Italy? Are y--!”
The captain wanted to ask but suddenly he heard the monsters once again started growling. However, they didn’t attack nor move; they only let out threatening growls.
The Captain finally remembered that they were still in a battle. But before he could turn around, he heard a voice, “Leave!”
Grrrrrr!!
Awoooo!
Graaar!
Monsters one after another let out cries of anger and discontentment.
“Still won’t leave!?”
The hooded man’s calm voice immediately became murderous, causing the captain and the other soldiers to instantly stop, their bodies stiff.
They felt an incredibly cold pressure covering their bodies, causing them to freeze… killing intent!
This was an incredibly overwhelming wave of killing intent. They looked up at Magwayan, who had not moved an inch.
Behind his hood, Magwayan’s eyes and expression had completely changed. His eyes were completely dead, and unmoving. Being stared at by these eyes, even many of the monsters couldn’t help but shiver.
Many monsters instantly shivered and started whimpering. They immediately turned around to leave, not wasting any moment in this place!

Is their destiny set in stone, or will they forge a different path? No matter what, their choices will bring forth a new era for Mendala. ------------------------------ If you love vast fantasy worlds, rich, fleshed-out characters, and a adventure where your'e constantly discovering new things along the way, then this is definitely a story you'll enjoy. This is a slow-burn high fantasy / adventure with many characters and intersecting plotlines. It’s a quest so lots of adventuring, exploring, and character moments, but not a ton of fighting/action (though there are definitely some great fight scenes as payoff to the buildup). Because it’s a fantasy world with lots of people and new concepts, I try to make it easy so that you don’t have to memorize anything. The narrative will constantly remind you of important people/places/concepts as you keep moving forward. Some things won’t be fully explained right at the beginning to avoid information overload. My goal is that the reader will learn things organically as the story progresses. I use two mechanisms to help with the intersecting plotlines. - Each chapter is named for the (main) plotline it’s following and which part. - At the beginning of the chapter, and anytime there is a scene shift, the location is listed. Also, though this is definitely a portal-fantasy (isekai) it’s different from the standard isekai, especially since the world transfer doesn’t happen immediately. It’s not Lit-RPG but characters gain powers and grow over time. Also, it’s a group of teens that transfer, not just one central character. All of the teens are distinct characters, with their own character-arcs, relationships, powers, growth etc. Hopefully you’ll find this interesting as you’ll see the world and story from multiple perspectives. The story is always in 3rd Person (Omniscient) POV so that it’s not jarring as perspectives shift.
