《Fantasial Apocalypse》Chapter 2: [ The Beginning after the ending ]

“Y…You’re…?!” With great difficulty recovering his vision, Allen saw the girl in front of him and he was so scared his soul almost separated and flew off.
In front of him was a short blonde haired blue-eyed girl he had seen so many times before.
“Mia!?”
“Did your brain get drained by a sewer; of course it’s me, the great Mia Bianchi! Don’t you dare forget that idiot!”
Mia Bianchi. The girl he once thought as a valuable comrade.
One of the [ Ten Kings ].
The Mad Princess
But she should be dead by now… isn’t it? Is that it… because this was a dream?
How come she was facing him right now?
Besides, wasn’t his teacher, Ms. Grace here just now? Then why is Mia… here?
“…it’s not a dream if that’s what you’re thinking about.”
However, as if reading Allen’s thoughts, Mia said while smiling.
“!?”
“I drag you here from your classroom because we need to talk.”
Now that I remember… Allen remembered hugging Ms. Grace because of his overflowing emotions but then after hearing a nostalgic voice, he was suddenly hit in the back of his head.
In fact, it wasn’t enough for him to lose consciousness but because he was rained down by vicious punches and kick after. And man that was without doubt unbearably heavy blows for a frail boy like him.
Therefore the poor kid had fainted straight away.
After that, he was dragged by Mia under the dumbfounded gazes of all the people.
“…not a dream…?”
“First of all, if you are thinking that this was a dream then you’re greatly mistaken. This is real. This is the world before the apocalypse.”
Real… what is she talking about?
“If you don’t believe me then I can’t do anything about it.”
“W…wait, just wait. You…you’re saying that this is real? Are you joking?” Allen asked cautiously. From all of the strange events happened in his life, he had never experienced something this strange.
His mind was a scattering mess. If there was a word to describe his current train of thought, it would be ‘ridiculous’.
“I’m not. Although I don’t know whether the apocalypse was all just a dream or we really came back in time, this world is real. In fact, that was also one of the reasons why I came here to find you.
Oh right, I also met Keneth before I came here.”
Hearing that name, Allen frowned.
Seeing his reaction, Mia flashed a bitter smile and softly muttered, “So you knew…”
“Where is he?”
Mia didn’t answer as she reached for her cup of coffee.
“…he’s gone. I killed him.”
Allen’s eyes widened in shock. What did she just say? Kill him?
He never expected for her to do something like that. Wasn’t Keneth her lover?
“He’s nothing but a traitor…” Mia said with a cold voice. Her face distorted in disgust. “Anyway, he’s not like us. He doesn’t remember anything or maybe still hasn’t yet. Oh well, he’s dead.”

“I see.” Just that, Allen didn’t say anything else because even if Mia didn’t do it, there’s a chance that he would be the one to do it if they met right now. He could never forgive him.
“How about the others?”
“As for now, I don’t know. That idiot and yours are the only names, address, and country I could remember. Anyway, back to the present. From the looks of it, you just regained your memory, am I right?”
“Yeah. From what I remember I should’ve died, and then I suddenly woke up as if I was just having a bad dream.”
“Who killed you? Daniel? The others? Or demons”
“I killed myself.”
“Hwha!?” Mia’s hand that was bringing the cup to her mouth froze.
Her gaze instantly shot towards him. “What? You committed suicide?”
Allen let out a sigh. “Yeah. It’s not just Daniel and them, Celty also betrayed us. I was going to take revenge for you and chased Daniel and the others so I consulted her for help but as you can see, she captured me and told me everything; including about Keneth.
Despaired, I killed myself…”
A dry laughter leaked from Mia’s lips and then looked at him in a pitiful and yet mocking gaze. This caused Allen to almost want to punch her in her face.
“So we’re the same, however, you sure are an idiot. I’m guessing Celty captured you and wanted you to join her, didn’t you? Why didn’t you do it?”
Celty would never kill you, you idiot. Mia thought to herself but she didn’t say that.
“Don’t joke around. As if I’m going to become a slave to those demons!”
“Fair enough~” Mia shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly.
At this moment, Allen finally managed to calm his thoughts and completely understand the situation. Although it was difficult to believe, it seemed like they came back in time, if not Mia would never know him or even remember about the apocalypse.
“Apocalypse huh…”
[ Fantasial Apocalypse ]. That was what they call it.
The end of the current era and the beginning of a new completely different age!
Before, there was a woman who has managed to get a rare class [ Priestess ] and use its innate skill [ Divination ]. This skill managed to communicate a mysterious entity who calls himself [ God ].
‘… what will you feel, if you were to get destroyed by the things you created.’ That’s what the entity said.
…‘by the things you created’ means all the monsters and demons that appeared in the world.
Goblins, slimes, ogres, demons, dragons, all of the things humanity created in their myths, legends and stories. All products of human’s imagination appeared one after another, causing the extinction of mankind.
It’s not by fire or water, it's human’s imagination that ended the whole world.
…and thus, the apocalypse was called; [ Fantasial Apocalypse ].

“If what you said is true, then how long until the [ Apocalypse ] begin?”

“Three days later,” Mia answered without hesitation. “I have already prepared everything on my part, that was the reason I couldn’t meet you earlier…well, it seems like it’s fine, you wouldn’t even believe anything I will say if I came a little earlier.”
“Prepare… when did you come back? It seems like you woke up earlier than me.”
“That long?!” Allen remembered that Mia died just a day earlier than him so it seemed like there are some subtle differences in time between their awakenings.
“Ah, I should have awakened earlier too…” Allen couldn’t help but grumble. He could have prepared various things before the apocalypse…
“So what are we going to do…seemed like I don’t need to ask anything huh. But even if you are excited about meeting me again, couldn’t you hold up your violence?” Allen flashes a bitter smile as he touched the bruise on his face and chin. It was still extremely painful.
Hearing his complaints, Mia’s eyes instantly narrowed. Her gaze was cold indicating the anger inside of her.
“…you should’ve been grateful that I didn’t kill you, you bastard.” Mia gritted her teeth. “That is never been enough for your sin.”
“… …” Allen didn’t reply and just bitterly smiled.
Of course, he never forgot.
His unforgivable sin towards her.
The sin of killing her one and only younger brother.
Allen shrugged his shoulder and slowly stood up. He still has many things to do and things to prepare.
Now that he knows what is going to happen, he would never let anything happen like those of the past to happen again.
Allen thought about the time when Ms. Grace died after saving him.
The classmates who made him bait just to escape from the school.
…and most of all, when his sister came back to save him and ended up captured by a monster and got eaten.
All of these things would never happen again.
In 3 days, the apocalypse will start. I can do many things in these 3 days.
Mia just coldly gazed at him but the corner of her mouth was slightly curled upwards.
She was enjoying this.
When Allen started walking towards the door of the room, it was suddenly opened and a familiar figure appeared before his eyes.
“Lieri…” It was Lieri Del Con. Mia’s loyal bodyguard and servant.
Even though the apocalypse began, Lieri was still loyal to Mia and her brother. She was always there, protecting them.
That undying loyalty earned her Allen’s admiration.
“Nice to meet you--- or should I say, it’s been a long time young master Allen.” Lieri greeted as she bends her body to bow.
“Lieri, do you---”
“No, she doesn’t remember anything.” Mia cut Allen’s words nonchalantly while drinking her coffee.
“…welcome back, Lieri. So how is it?”
“All have been done according to Milady's wishes.”
Mia nodded her head and continued drinking her coffee.
“Lieri, what is that Mia ordered you to do?” Allen was curious so he couldn’t help but ask. “And do you really didn’t remember anything?”
Lieri turned around and face Allen with a bright smile. “Unfortunately no, but I have heard so much about you and the coming apocalypse from my lady. And also, my lady ordered me to procure and prepare some weapons.”
Allen looked back at Mia but she was looking out the window without a care.
“…do you believe it?”
“Yes,” Lieri answered without hesitation. “…even If my lady was serious and told me that the sun would rise from the west tomorrow, I would believe her.”
Allen let out a wry smile as she observed her expression.
“…You really didn’t change at all Lieri, or should I say, you would never change no matter how many years passed by.” The expression Allen currently had on his face was something he never made before.
It was gentle, calm but somewhat lonely.
These words were also the same words she spoke when he asked him how could she believe her when Mia told her that she would save her after ordering her to attract four Level 9 by herself during an operation.
That kind of loyalty could either mock her as a fool or gained their admiration.
Lieri’s expression changed when she saw Allen’s expression.
He wasn’t that handsome, to begin with, though he wasn’t ugly either. He had an average looks, black hair and dark brown eyes but at this moment, for some reason, she couldn’t help but blushed slightly and narrowed her eyes.
He was looking at her as if he was looking at his long lost precious friend.
And this kind of expression greatly shook Lieri’s feelings.
“Is something wrong?”
“N, no! It’s nothing!!” That said, she couldn't just admit to looking at Allen admiringly, so she quickly covered it up.
“Is that so…”Allen failed to notice Lieri’s intentions and just nodded his head. At this moment…
“Hey, playboy. Don’t you dare bully my servant or else I would dig your eyes out.” Mia’s cold and dangerous voice rang out.
“M, Milady?!”
“What do you mean by bully?” Allen smiled wryly while scratching his head.
“Now then, since the infamous Mad Princess is glaring at me with such a scary face, I think it's about time to leave.”
Upon hearing Allen’s words, Lieri looked at her mistress.
There she saw Mia giving Allen a serious glare and couldn’t help but let out a smile.
“Get lost.” Mia nodded and showed a serious expression.
Shrugging his shoulders Allen started walking towards the door. He then stopped and threw a glance at Mia and said, “…It’s good to see you again, Mia.”
I’m really happy to meet you again. Allen really thought to himself.
Looking at his back, Mia’s cold expression gradually softens and her red soft looking lips turned into a smile.
“...Stupid...”
They were sweet words from the Mad Princess.
“Me too, idiot.”

Through Mist, Veil, and Summer
Anna Lawrence is a quiet girl who'd rather sit and write poetry than bustle about with her peers. After an incident resulting in a panic attack and a trip to the hospital, Anna's foster mother sends her to stay with her aunt and uncle for the summer. THROUGH MIST, VEIL, AND SUMMER is my homage to Studio Ghibli films. It's a fantasy romance with a dash of adventure and a sprinkling of self-contemplation. It's a story that moves a little slower, a little quieter. It is my fourth novel, written between October 1, 2017 and January 6, 2019.
